Just more features: the touchscreen, whilst you have to press hard on it, makes altering settings much easier, direct, and faster; the graph for the past 24hr period is great; you can set up four different temp. settings through the day; it can run as whatever type of thermostat you choose; it can control two heating elements, not just one; the mechanism for bracketing it to a wall (bought separately) is leagues ahead... I really need to make a separate video about its greatness!
Hi. Do the lights on the control panel stay on permanently or switch off when not pressed please? Do they still work after 5 years? Any issues. Thanks.
Quick question. Can I use one socket for basking bulb for a day light and heat emitter on the second socket for a night ? For example I would like to set up a day basking bulb at 30C and then for a night it would go off and heat emitter go on to hold the temp at 26C ? Thanks for answer and I hope it make sens 😁👍
I get exactly what you mean! No, you can’t do that with these thermostats, but you CAN with a Microclimate EVO - I’ll be reviewing these thermostats within the next few months.
Sorry for commenting on such an old video, but had a quick question. I just got this thermostat and have set it all up. I know that when on the main screen, you can use the arrows to have a quick look at your settings (without being able to change them). But I'm confused regarding the screen after the Timer 2 setting. It shows a higher temperature than I have set, and I was curious what this was? Once left, it goes back to the main screen, I was just curious if you had any idea what that screen is telling me?
This is incredibly helpful, thank you. It's actually a money saver if I can run 2 vivs from it and don't ruin my bulbs! Should I still get thermometers for both the hot and cold end as a precaution or will I know if this is not working? (Obviously, the thermostat sensor will be at the hot end so I'll need a thermometer at the cool end anyway.) Thanks.
Hopefully I understood correctly but reading other comments, can I check? I'd have 2 vivs with the same set up, heat and light requirements and I'd like to run both heater bulbs on this if possible. Will I get 2 sensors or is it more designed for a heater on one channel (with sensor) and light on another no sensor). Thanks very much.
Your second comment is correct: you get one sensor that feeds back to one channel for a heater; the second channel is for other lighting, misters etc. Although you CAN use one thermostat on two vivs, I don’t recommend it. I’ve tried doing it once with one of these thermostats and it was a complete failure, perhaps because one vivarium was on top of another. You might have more luck if they are side by side.

Hi. Just purchased this and I’m not sure which is the best placement for the probe? I’ve moved my thermometer around so I know that where it’s placed now it should give a nice basking temp for my ackie but it’s also close to one of the top valves and the sliding doors on the hot end so the temp will fluctuate and the bulb kreps going on and off.
I'm about o buy this just for dimming feature and extra plug for UVB but have one question. I dont want it to do anything at night! Past 9pm just both turn off and dont do anything untill 7am. Is it possible to do that since I see its a Day/Night thermostat. Thx.
Yes, it is most definitely possible. I would recommend, though, not to have your lights on for that long every day: a 12hr photoperiod is more natural than a 14hr one, so 8 till 8 should be a happier medium.
So im really thinking of getting one of these but i have one important question that i think u answered in the video but i just need to double check if i got it right: If you have lets say a heat lamp, aswell as a UVB light plugged into that thermostat. Really hope its nr.2 as i would have to invest in a timer aswell if its going to start dimming the UVB light aswell :S Hopefully u could answer this so I would get some clarity :)
Number two. The second channel is constant control (ie the item plugged into it is either on or off) - only the first channel has dimming control. Both can be manipulated with different built-in timer settings. 👍
Hi, I've just purchased two of these for my ackie and my tegu, I'm wanting the stat to run the daytime Baskin lamps and uvb 8am to 8pm and turn them both off during the night (so neither the heating or uvb is on at night) can you explain how I make the stat not run either during the night please, many thanks 🙂
I just got this, set it up and cannot for the of me work out why my UV bulb won't turn on (it's plugged into the "lights" socket on the thermostat). Don't suppose you have any idea why?
Hi I have got two of these units and I have two enclosures which I have 1 x basking light and 1 x UV and a night time 180 w green house tube heated per enclosure, I need the basking day heat at 32c and night time temps no lower than 10c so would i be able to connect 2 basking lamps 100/150 watts each on plug no 1 thermostate doubling the plug up for day time temps, and then I can plug the UV Iight on no 2 socket for day on night off. Then on other unit double plug the 2 x green house 180w tube heaters and set for night temp on thermostats and then socket 2 for the other daytime UV lamp day on night off.
I’ve tried doing something similar, and it didn’t work. Unless your vivaria are exactly the same in every way and not stacked in any way, you will end up with different temperatures. The other issue is that if the heater blows in the viv with the probe in it, the thermostat will “lock on” and cook the inhabitant of the other enclosure. You’re better off getting more stats than making do with less 🙂
If the thermostat measures the temperature as being below the set point, it will ramp up the output until the set point is reached. If your heat lamp in the enclosure with the probe is has blown, it obviously won’t get any hotter, so the thermostat will keep the output high - “locked on”, as I call it. In the other enclosure, this means that the heater being run by the same thermostat will also be held permanently on, so it will get hotter and hotter until it can no more. Depending on the animal, the enclosure, and the heater, this could be very detrimental indeed.
Hi thanks I get it,I need to change my way of setting up so the last question is I need to turn off the night function to stop the basking light coming on as I will run a separate heater with built in stat I cannot seem to turn night function off, and I have two of these units one I can adjust the night temp range from 0c to 50c but the other only goes from 15c to 50c just abit lost
Press and hold “set”, then keep pressing set to cycle through the settings. The setting you are on is whatever flashes onscreen. The final setting to flash is the current time.
You could, but I would not recommend using a heat mat alone as a heat source. I discussed why in my latest video - ua-cam.com/video/dUJZ04sqhxk/v-deo.html
@@JTBReptiles so would you recommend using a ceramic heat lamp aswell as a heat mat and a UVB bulb, I've done some research and people say either use a heat mat or use a spot heater
No, if you watch the video I explain why a ceramic heater is only suitable for upping ambient temps, rendering them obsolete in almost all circumstances. They are only useful in very cold reptile rooms. The best standalone heater is a tungsten filament lamp set up correctly.
I have purchased one of these and recently set it up, running 3 heat mats (all same size and wattage) all the settings are correct but it’s not showing power % and not getting up to desired temperature, what can I do? Thanks for any help.
If it isn’t getting up to temperature, your heating elements aren’t powerful enough. I discuss different heaters in this video - ua-cam.com/video/XG7bA3sUIJ8/v-deo.html As for not showing the power, what do you mean? If it’s just saying 100%, that is consistent with the heating elements being too weak. If it doesn’t say anything, well, I’m not really sure why that would be. You’d have to ring up HabiStat to find out. Hope that helps.
The problem there is with the over-temperature alarm. Press and hold set for three seconds, cycle through to the alarm, and set it to as high as it can go (5 degrees C). One you’ve done this, it might beep the next time the setpoint shifts: if so, go back into the settings and re-enter the alarm as 5 degrees (so just cycle through all of the settings). This should sort it out for you. (The alarm function on these things is rubbish - it’s totally useless!)
The day set point is what the thermostat will control the heater to maintain during the period that you define as “day” when setting up the thermostat - this could be from 07:00 to 19:00, or 06:43 to 20:12, whatever you want. The nighttime set point is what will be maintained for the rest of the time (19:00 to 07:00, 20:12 to 06:43, to continue the previous example).
Hi, I've just purchased one from the UK (I'm in Australia). Are you able to give me the dimensions of both the main unit and the display? I'm currently building my vivarium and need the measurements. Cheers.
Can you please help me set up. I've gone through it all and it works for 5 mins then says error? It's for s Leo. I have a dhp and uvb in it., I've put the over temp alarm to 5°C and hasn't done it again. But am confused about timer 1 and 2, I only want the light to come on and go off once, how do I set that up. Thanks.
Also confussed about the timer 1 as need that on all the time for dhp did you figure it out i have set both times to 0.00 hope thats right and keeps it on all the time
One socket, I *think* socket “I” (captical “i”, for indigo; not lowercase “l”, for Lima) is the channel for your heater. The other socket, I think socket “II” (two capital “i”s) is a simple on/off timed socket.
i have a problem with mine, its been perfect for a couple of years but now is going over the temp i have set. the ceramic bulb is heating up when the thermostat should be dimming it... the power meter goes down to 0% as should but temp still rises... any ideas please? thankyou
I would just chuck it in the bin mate. I spent a fortune on the evo's less than 2 years ago. On one the screen dimmed til it died, the other probably has a month or 2 left. The dead one still works but unusable really without a screen. Had an exo with a screen going for four years. Evo's were sold way before they were tested for longevity with a cheap rubbish screen that was the worst thing I've ever tried to use & I just took the dead one apart & looks like it was made in a shed. These are probably no different
No, one you would use for something that doesn’t require thermostat control, such as a mister or UVB bulb. The other is then used for a heating element, which should preferably be a deep heat projector for less heliocentric species (like most snakes or crepuscular geckos) or a DHP and/or a halogen lamp for a sun-seeker (such as a bearded dragon or green anole). Hope that answers your question :)
Thanks :) Yes, I’d still say that it’s the best thermostat I’ve ever had. I have bought my third one within the past month, and I’m actually a bit disappointed with this one: it has a minor fault with it, so I’ve contacted Habistat and hopefully they’ll replace it. I’ll let you know how I get on - customer service is something that I place a lot of importance on, so if they leave me hanging then my perception of them will be greatly damaged. Hopefully it won’t come to that. Given how accurate they are, yes, I think they’d be great for an incubator.
mAYBE One of you all can help me? Using a dimming thermo on a bulb, but when the temperature needs to drop then the bulb sort of just 'drops' its brightness. Is this normal? I had expected it to be a slow transition like a dimming knob.
Lizard You can get away without them using heat bulbs, but I definitely wouldn't chance it with CHEs or any other heating element. Thanks for watching mate :)
hi, i've got a question. i've installed my thermostat correct or so i think. Everything is set, the only thing is; at night the temperature stays the same as the day temperature although the display says it's nighttime with the temperature i have set. The current temperature says the day temp and it keeps heating like it's 24/7 daytime.... Can you help me? (hope you understand my problem) kind regards
Funnily enough, I bought another one of these in December and had the same problem. I’d never heard of it before, but if you’re having the same issue, it might be a recurring problem. I’ve sent mine to their factory for repairs, but it’s been a month and I still haven’t had it back despite regular promises that it will be fixed “by the end of next week”... I’ll let you know if I get it back and if they have fixed it, but I don’t know if I’ll be buying one again and I think I’ll have to change this video to include this information. Apologies that I can’t help you :/
I am not sure, but at least 50 Celsius. I should think that there is no cause to go that high with any reptile (which you might disagree with in some cases, but it is quite a long argument for me to explain why, so I won’t here!), so I should think that it goes high enough for whatever you might want to do with it 🙂
I wish I could show you the pictures on my phone of my old thermostat where you plug in the heat source and the UV source exploded out of the side melting it and sitting with black luckily I saw it before you catch anything on fire
You cannot dim a UV bulb - if you were using this model of thermostat and plugged it into the wrong socket, I could imagine something like that happening.
I've got one of these but lost the manual, am I right in thinking the 1st plug is for heat and the 2nd for light? I did have the heat plugged into the 2nd socket but it was getting stupidly hot xx
Dont rate these at all, screen ends up faulty when buttons are pressed, it goes on and off with button presses and the temperature range ended up stuck at a maximum of 28c on mine. Waste of money
It’s a POS!! Don’t buy this. Mine just broke, lasted less than 1 day. Shows hh claiming it’s too hot when it isn’t even close to been hot enough. Done everything correct but it’s garbage.

Cheers.
I’m away at university at the moment, so unfortunately not!
@@JTBReptiles no worries, the unit arrived on Friday anyway! Cheers.
That is seriously advanced compared to the old ones! awesome
Buzz Killington Definitely! A bit dearer, but you get what you pay for!
How did you turn the alarm off?
Can you please help me set up. I've gone through it all and it works for 5 mins then says error? It's for s Leo. I have a dhp and uvb in it., I've put the over temp alarm to 5°C and hasn't done it again. But am confused about timer 1 and 2, I only want the light to come on and go off once, how do I set that up. Thanks.
Also confussed about the timer 1 as need that on all the time for dhp did you figure it out i have set both times to 0.00 hope thats right and keeps it on all the time
ive just bought one of these, where is the best place to put the probe for a bearded dragon ?
thanks
Under basking spot
whats the best place to set the temp probe ??
so helpfull thx very much
on mine ive noticed two different icons on the socket, what do they mean ?
One socket, I *think* socket “I” (captical “i”, for indigo; not lowercase “l”, for Lima) is the channel for your heater. The other socket, I think socket “II” (two capital “i”s) is a simple on/off timed socket.
How do you change the time mine is 1an hour and a half faster
Can’t get mine under 30c, am I doing something wrong?
That’s odd. Try contacting the company, they might be able to fix it for you.
im having the same problem temp rising above what ive set....did you sort yours?
I have been trying to set this for hours but have not been able to 😢
i have a problem with mine, its been perfect for a couple of years but now is going over the temp i have set. the ceramic bulb is heating up when the thermostat should be dimming it... the power meter goes down to 0% as should but temp still rises... any ideas please?
How do you setup the light settings on it?
Can you change it from Celsius to Fahrenheit ?
I don't think so, no. Sorry!
Do you use the two sockets for a light and a heat mat
No, one you would use for something that doesn’t require thermostat control, such as a mister or UVB bulb. The other is then used for a heating element, which should preferably be a deep heat projector for less heliocentric species (like most snakes or crepuscular geckos) or a DHP and/or a halogen lamp for a sun-seeker (such as a bearded dragon or green anole). Hope that answers your question :)
Great review 👍..
Are you still satisfied with the Habistat digital thermostat?
Do you think it's ideal to use for a incubator?
Thanks 😉
Thanks :)
Yes, I’d still say that it’s the best thermostat I’ve ever had.
Given how accurate they are, yes, I think they’d be great for an incubator.
how high can you set the temperature to?
I cannot remember, but at least 50, which is higher than you’ll ever need to set it.
Please give us a full set up.
mAYBE One of you all can help me? Using a dimming thermo on a bulb, but when the temperature needs to drop then the bulb sort of just 'drops' its brightness. Is this normal? I had expected it to be a slow transition like a dimming knob.
Great video I don’t use thermostats but properly should do
Lizard You can get away without them using heat bulbs, but I definitely wouldn't chance it with CHEs or any other heating element. Thanks for watching mate :)
Won’t the heat element make night time bright when it comes on at night?
You need a heat source that dosnt emit light, for example a ceramic heat lamp or a deep heat projector
hi, i've got a question. i've installed my thermostat correct or so i think.
Apologies that I can’t help you :/
how do I get this in the US?
See the video description :) I don't know that you can get the "official" HabiStat version, but I have provided a link to a very similar product.
TY so much
Whats the max temp it goes to?
I am not sure, but at least 50 Celsius. I should think that there is no cause to go that high with any reptile (which you might disagree with in some cases, but it is quite a long argument for me to explain why, so I won’t here!), so I should think that it goes high enough for whatever you might want to do with it 🙂
Ho could anyone tell.me if its possible to reset one of these please
I wish I could show you the pictures on my phone of my old thermostat where you plug in the heat source and the UV source exploded out of the side melting it and sitting with black luckily I saw it before you catch anything on fire
You cannot dim a UV bulb - if you were using this model of thermostat and plugged it into the wrong socket, I could imagine something like that happening.
I've got one of these but lost the manual, am I right in thinking the 1st plug is for heat and the 2nd for light? I did have the heat plugged into the 2nd socket but it was getting stupidly hot xx
Yep, that’s correct! You need to swap them over!
If you’re going to post a video review, actually show how to set it up, it will help people new to the reptile world!
20 o'clock XD
Dont rate these at all, screen ends up faulty when buttons are pressed, it goes on and off with button presses and the temperature range ended up stuck at a maximum of 28c on mine. Waste of money
It’s a POS!! Don’t buy this. Mine just broke, lasted less than 1 day. Shows hh claiming it’s too hot when it isn’t even close to been hot enough. Done everything correct but it’s garbage.
Are you 13?
SeatMan No, a bit older :)
JTB Reptiles oh neat. How old is your corn snake
SeatMan about three and a half years, which has flown in!
