FYI. The interaction between Seph and Lucrecia is a mirror image of the same interaction between Turk Vincent and Lucrecia. Specifically the part where Lucrecia mentions the warm breeze and how Seph should sleep. It's when Vincent is recalling the time he was sleeping under a tree in a field of flowers before Lucrecia shows up.
@@Phantomyre Ever since Rebirth came out I've been considering that Jenova is possibly learning human interactions and feels genuine care towards Sephiroth. I'm not entirely convinced that Jenova is the mindless disaster that the Cetra make her out to be. I think they're exaggerating history in their favor to paint themselves in a better light. Just a personal theory with no solid evidence yet.
@@jesse1381 In my opinion, it would be far better if Jenova cared for Sephiroth (though, back in the day, Ultimania stated that Sephiroth wrestled against Jenova for control of the cells after falling into the mako post-Nibelheim, if I remember correctly, and eventually overpowered her; ), rather than being portrayed as some generic 'big bad' seeking to corrupt him, so that in part 3 of the Remake all characters can sing kumbaya and fight against it. But honestly, I’d prefer Jenova to function more like a colony of cells-something akin to The Thing(which was sort of intended in the OG, if I'm correct)-that fulfills the needs of the entity serving as its mind (in this case-Sephiroth) or reverts to some instinct, if no such thing present. Instead of a sentient being with an identity. If Sephiroth were feeling troubled, for instance, it could draw upon the memories and experiences of various entities it had encountered to create a persona (Alyssa) designed to help stabilize his mental state after Rhadore or affect his mind like it does to Cloud after he meets Tifa in sector 7 slums station(constructing him an identity to help him). Ultimately, this process would be a subconscious extension of Sephiroth himself, with the cells reacting to and striving to fulfill his desires/needs. However, I think it’s fairly clear that the writers (Nojima?) are leaning toward the concept of an evil Jenova preying on Sephiroth as its victim. Perhaps Masamune would contain a fragment of the alien, which would help Jenova to 'corrupt him'. I could be wrong, though.
@@abanereizei204 These are really interesting theories. We still don't really know where they're going with Jenova's characterization in terms of being raw evil and deceptive vs just acting in a certain way and not knowing otherwise. But I believe Jenova is capable of growth. Rebirth has shown us the Gi's perspective and established that the Cetra are perhaps not quite as nice as we might believe. The Cetra are intolerant vicious people according to the Gi and perhaps it was the Cetra who Jenova learned how to be "evil" from after interacting with them. And then after witnessing Lucrecia and Vincent she reenacted the same scene with Sephiroth. She also positively responds to Sephiroth's desire to have a mother.
Bro we got Da chao and wutai lore that's why wutaians worship him and got a big statue, plus masamune lore and this is where the 'embrace your dreams' thing that zack got from angeal.
My theory is that the monster without a name was Jenova or at least part of her, like the Jenova boss fights in OG. When the five warriors defeated them, the organism ate its way into the land and has been slumbering there ever since. When the Cetra resettled, it took possession of the blacksmith when it became clear how talented he was and forced him to forge Masamune in his madness. a powerful weapon for her offspring when the time comes. I would say Alissa is a SOLDIER who may have even had Lucretia-jenova-cells implanted by hojo, who of course also sent her there because, as always, he wants to know what happens to his precious subjects in all possible situations, this also applies to Sephiroth
Great music and very interesting environment. Bachman and Alissa are good characters and nice to see such a solid story as short as it is. For me this was another top notch episode. Jenova is kind to Sephiroth. Didn't get much new on her motives and it'll be nice to see more of what she's really up to hopefully in the next one.
I think this is Jenova’s way to get closer to Sephiroth to manipulate him. Didn’t she do the same with the Cetra in the past? Deceive them by being friendly to them first
@Serenemistt We don't actually know that for sure. The Gi described the Cetra as very intolerant beings who were harsh and menacing. They don't sound too friendly in the lore here either and are described as having invaded Wutai lands. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle but we don't know yet
@@Serenemistt Personally and this is my own view but I trust the Gi more than I trust the Cetra. It's just my own personal take in the absence of more concise evidence. The Gi's rage and sorrow and a need for the black materia came from somewhere and I doubt they just woke up on the wrong side of the bed one day feeling upset for no reason. I think it's more likely that Jenova and the Gi ended up on the planet either they came separately or together, and both were immediately met with extreme hostility and violence from the Cetra who drove them south. Then the Gi came to follow Jenova and form some sort of alliance and then Jenova adapted to the rage of the Gi who suffered from persecution and she took out the Cetra in turn as more of a survival mechanism rather than mindless destruction. Once the Cetra were gone it at least appears that Jenova never bothered exterminating other forms of life. I think it's a case of the Cetra starting a war they simply couldn't handle. So they're not wrong to describe Jenova as a calamity from the skies but they're probably lying about who struck first and downplaying their own part in how they treated both Jenova and the Gi.
SEPHIROTH NO COME BACK TO THE LIGHT He’s acting a bit like Gollum towards the end, getting a bit like “my precious” over Masamune and even the potential status it would give him, which is strictly a post-Nibelheim Sephiroth thing. All throughout the first episode and in parts of this one, we can see the miserable but soft-hearted kid he really is, but as soon as Jenova starts whispering to him, especially in those dreams and possibly (?) through Alissa, he starts to lose himself and become focused on Masamune a little too much. I think Angeal is gonna be the one to save the day here, honestly. But he’s gonna have to help Sephiroth through the painful mommy issues that just get worse every chapter.
Im curious about what Alissa and Sephiroth are. Either he sees his mother in her and keeps her by his side. Or she is some jenova clone sent by hojo to trigger his memories. But it's true that the character will be dead or turn into that monster and be a boss fight....tho some say they could be developed to lovers which I think it'll get weird to have a love intrest on a parent which looks like his mother
But apparently the sword has that effect on people, it has happened before and the villagers killed each other to get it and then Masamune finished the rest of them. So the sword might not be calling to him specifically, although it probably is. Why isn't it calling to Angeal too? If it's Jenova, which it most likely is, he even has its cells too. I'm curious about the reality behind Angeals dreams, because they're probably as real as Seph's. I smell tragedy, that him leaving Banora was not at all a happy event, but we'll see. Either way, he's definitely better prepared to figure out what's wrong with them. Agghhh! Someone please protect these boys... now and in the future... their endings are just too sad!
