The Lord gives us many new beginnings, big and small-from the joy of new life when we first receive Him to new years, new months, and the dawning of each new day. As we start 2023, we hope that this song will inspire you to look away from all of life’s distractions to the Lord Jesus.
Hebrews 12:1-2 encourages us to run the Christian race: “Therefore let us also, having so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, put away every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us and run with endurance the race which is set before us, looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith.”*
The Amplified Bible translates verse 2 like this: “Looking away from all that will distract us and focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith.”**
