I've got a bunch of the Russian Capture K98ks. The wood is gorgeous under the red Russian lacquer. Sarco has capture screws & front sight hoods. IMA probably does too, if Sarco is out.
I have the same year and code also an RC at the gunsmith getting a SSR and original MSW scope mounted. Someone put a very nice aftermarket trigger in it and it shoots great, one of my most accurate guns
Nice find ... 98 actions n straight pull Swiss rifles are the ones I like .. Nice bore too which for me is the most important thing cause my Milsurps are Not Wall-hangers .... MB .

Really nice example. My RC Kar98 is the inverse of yours, a mid-war rifle in a pre-war stock.

What was the purpose of the "takedown disc?"
It was used to take apart the bolt after removing the firing pin assembly.
