5:33 Dabi's point in this scene is that Endeavor was awful to his family's prior to his "death". And he ran all the way back home to apologize and start over. Only to see that Endeavor CONTINUED the same mistakes. Whether Touya was alive or dead, Endeavor was too stubborn about wanting his child to surpass All Might. Even though that same dream quite literally caused his first son to explode and nearly burn to ash.
Exactly, Endeavour caused the death of his oldest child and was like 'nah let me keep doing the same shit to my youngest son'. I'm pretty sure I would have snapped too if I'd woken up three years after nearly dying to realise the person I care about the most doesn't give a shit about me.
At the end of the day, both Toya and Shoto were victims of their father's pursuit of perfection to surpass All Might. Both endured physical, mental, and emotional abuse and were traumatized. However, Shoto had a support system to keep him afloat, Toya went ultimately from one abuser to another in AFO.
5:40 - "The family moved on from him and Endeavor was training Shoto when Touya returned home" - basically means that Endeavor continued to be an abusive piece of sh*t even after Touya's "death". That nothing changed in the family. As if his death didn't mean anything to them, especially to Endeavor and they just continued with their lives and Endeavor continued to train/abuse Shoto. It was expected that Endeavor would change and become a good person after Touya's death, that he would continue looking for his oldest son, and that he would stop training/abusing Shoto because his sole attention to the youngest son led the eldest son to death. But no. Nothing changed and Endeavor continued to be a stubborn b*stard, obsessing over surpassing All Might through Shoto, though that very same obsession caused Touya's death. That's what Touya meant here.
Shoto embracing his power further as his own was honestly great to see. I couldn’t be prouder. Also, something I can never say enough is how I couldn’t imagine being in Touya’s place in those flashbacks. Like, he burned himself up, and the next thing he knew he was several years older and looked completely different and had a different voice. And then he went home, only to realize that his father had essentially just continued on. All of Touya’s fears had essentially come to life. It’s also honestly super sad that Shoto feels the need to carry all of the family’s hardships on his back when none of this should really be his responsibility. Unfortunately, Endeavor spent the last month or so completely neglecting Shoto and Touya, so he’s gonna have to fight All for One now instead, which sucks since Touya seems to really want to talk to him instead of Shoto, and I can’t say I blame him. Still though, I hope that Shoto can get through to Touya in some way. Touya may not want to admit it, bit they’re more alike than he thinks.
4:58 - Touya was a backup vessel just in case Shiggy failed. And since Touya failed to be their vessel, their next plan was to make him a Nomu like that High-End Nomu (living corpse) in front of him.
i find it interesting tho, endeavor was all like "FIRE HOT, COOL DOWN BODY, MAKE FIRE EVEN HOTTER" and shoto just went opposite lol, it definitely is his power
Living Corpse = Nomu. Don’t forget they all used to be humans. The doc had a bunch of orphanages and retirement homes…on purpose. That’s why Pixie Bob had a bit of a freak out when she saw the picture of the tiny Nomu „Johnny“ in the beginning of last season, after she learned about the whole scheme. MHA is underlying very dark.
@@ayamekiyasuki4001 nope he was pointing at the Nomu right in front of him. Shiggy is also not a living corpse, at least at that point in time it would have made zero sense. The conversation between the doc and Dabi happened right before the Endevour vs Hood fight, cause Dabi was actually allowed to pick the Nomu for it (which we already knew) and now we know how that came to be. A lot of people also do not realise by the way, that Dabi specifically picked hood cause he knew he would give Endevour a good fight and make him look good to rise in popularity, just to crash down later. Dabi revealed it during his speech and even taunted Endevour by saying “in between I was afraid you might actually die”.
Tragically both brothers despite hating Endeavor ended up just like him. They became obsessed and that obsession kept them from living their lives. With Dabi its obvious he dedicated himself to revenge and went crazy. For Shoto he was dead set of proving his dad wrong and trying to do things his way but he was still just as driven and blindsided as his dad, as such he didn't even try to make friends.
So my big take away from this fight is yes Dabi has a sad tragic backstory but that doesn't excuse him killing innocent people who have nothing to do with his family drama. At least that's how I viewed what Shoto said.
Man Dabi literally went froo it all man, dad messing up his head and the effect it had on him and then when Shoto was born knowing his dads desire and feeling lackluster not good enough and like he could never make him proud. Then there's how his dad generally was with everyone and how unpleasant that wudda been. Being cursed with a body that is weak to your stronger quirk as if the worlds rubbing it in his face man. He wanted to show him summat at that tree or whatever and worded his desire in the moment to just wanting some acknowledgement rather than necessarily being stronger than All Might which i think is significant to affecting which path he could go down in that moment depending on what happens. It would have been a cool potential rebuilding arc for them to maybe have his dad teach him how to control his quirk regardless for his own safety and maybe if things develop other things can be looked at but ultimatey his and others safety is paramount and in a sense hed be partly becoming a hero knowing hes got shit under wraps Teach him to accept his situation and apologise for what you did make amends by bonding over other shit but na Endeavor was on a mad one back then werent he. Cus he werent there then Toya loses control and nearly dies by burning himself alive man and think about whats going through his head in that moment like my life was unfulfilled and shit and didnt have a love in it, through no fault of his own really whilst experiencing physical agony. Wakes up three years later and he has a good will for the world for wanting to be a hero then gets told he cant cus his body got fked. Goes back home and sees his dad is still the same geeza. Fked man Be interesting to see what he says when he wakes as he didnt exactly have a change of heart
LOL, this episode reminded me that Shoto became a hero because he wanted to be like All Might. Imagine being Endeavor: you centered your entire personality around power, but remained number two your whole life, you didn't achieve your goal with your own powers and the title of number 1 was given to you because you were just there, your entire family hates you, one of your sons is a mass murder, and the other is one so plagued by guilt and insecurity, but he decided to become a hero because of the man that you lost to forever. He now has to deal with AFO, but to be fair if AFO had an HP bar, it'd be at 1% after All Might was done with him, but AFO is still more powerful than everyone else . GIVE MY BOI A BREAK.
It’s a real thing, look it up on encyclopedia or wikipedia as “cool flame”. The short version of it is that it’s a fire that doesn’t burn flesh. They take a little bit of liberty here, though.
Minor detail, but inner voices don't work that way. When he first woke up and spoke in his head, he should have sounded like his younger self. Our inner voices are made up. Just like how you can imagine someone else talking and give them their own voice. So his ignorance to his new voice should have caused him to speak as young toya until he actually spoke
Im glad the anime onlys enjoyed this episode. As a manga reader it was kinda disappointing. The art WAS TOP NOTCH, but the animation was hella lacking. I guess in the age of great animations like demon slayer, jjk, and some OP eps, I was hoping we'd get that in MHA but it has yet to be seen.
There’s always the physical media release corrections. I read the manga as well and I didn’t mind it personally. Let’s not turn this into the “Lemillion vs Overhaul” where people bitched on for missing one single panel that was just words and with no drawing at all.
@@manhwafanatic all I’m saying is compared to One Piece and Demon Slayer releases this weekend, this was the weakest. Still good just the bottom of the three

thank u for this
The main difference between Dabi and Shoto is, that one got a save-space and a healthy support system and the other one got All for one.
This, exactly this. If not for Deku and his classmates, Shoto was on the path to become a villain too.
I agree with you here l fell şad for dabi and his mother and his bother here@@fantasylovemagic have nice day

Shouto's never listening to his old man, he will do literally the opposite of what his dad wants.
