"With borderline arrogance....pancakes can smell fear." This is, imo, the best phrase I have heard Chef John use in a food video. I damn near died laughing 🤣🤣
Thank you Chef John for brightening my day.
We're doing pulled pork Sunday for a small shindig. This is the 3rd time you've read my mind and/or bugged my house, which is fine as long as those recipes keep coming.
I found this channel yesterday and loved it.
I unfortunately woke up a bit sad and for the past couple hours my mood has just been declining. Thank you Chef John for making me smile and laugh for a bit. Ima go binge more videos to cheer up :)
Oh,yes, his videos are an oasis you can visit time and time again . Especially the ones around the various holidays.
@@ladyalaina42 In case you haven’t found it yet. There’s a link under the video to the Allrecipes.com site.
When I saw the title, I said to my wife, “I think Chef John is losing his mind in quarantine.” But after watching the video, I have to admit that these look amazing!
@@hockeymom49721 His entire channel is based on making weird tv food.... That's how BWB got the following it has.
@@river7874 By copying Feast of Fiction? I do like Babish, btw.
On the original topic pulled pork stuffed into corn muffins is a thing, so this another way to do the same.
You have a good point! Thank god Chef didn't have some whipping cream he needed to use up! Yes, they look amazing, but lordy, pancakes layered with pulled pork, butter and maple syrup? Sometimes I think John invested in a heart transplant company!
You know you’re dealing with a pro when he can teach you how to combat the fear sensed by the pancake
Ok. Chicken and waffles never did it for me. But THIS is intriguing. Looks brilliant.
"A pancake can sense fear." Truer words were never spoken.
I had something similar to this at a restaurant outside of Kansas City, MO, I believe. The only difference was it was topped with sausage gravy. It was excellent.
*was just thinking about how such a fusion of southern breakfast standards needed to exist and then BOOM your comment, RIGHT THERE!!!...as if it were all part of a larger plan...if not...breakfast Magic...(spooky music plays from the next room on a kazoo)*
@@scottmantooth8785 Found the picture I took of it on my phone. It was at the New London Cafe in Parkville, MO. When I saw it on the menu, I was thinking there was no way it would be good. I ordered it because it was the only time I've ever seen something like that on a menu. Glad I did order it because it was excellent.
Dear Chef John, I am a long time listener first time commenter. I just want to say thank you for everything you do. Your tutorials are not just informative but your videos provide a great venue for trying and experimenting with different recipes and have been an amazing distraction during these trying times. I have lived in Taiwan for the past 10 years and your recipes and videos have not only been all delicious, but a great reminder of home. Keep up the great work and as always, enjoy
This took me back 60 years to growing up in Nashville. There was a barbecue restaurant with several locations called Nick Varallo’s. You had the option of have your barbecue sandwich on a bun, or on corn griddle cakes. That was my mother’s favorite, pulled pork on corn cakes with a garnish of cole slaw.
Ooh, another alliterative recipe to add to my common consonant cookbook
Don't you mean "another alliterative assortment of appetizers instructions"?
This should be a brunch item on a menu at a fancy restaurant, that's how amazingly delicious these looked! 👏🏼🤗 Another winner, Chef John!!
I used to make cornbread waffles with bacon bits in the batter but this takes that idea to the max!
There was a dinner in Bloomington Illinois that served this. Chopped pecans and chives on top
I'm not too far from there. I'll have to try it out! Do you know the name of the restaurant?
Nicole Fort Jesse cafe. They only served until noon I think. Real nice little dinner
My three daughters made this for me on Father's Day. What a delicious dish! I was pleasantly surprised and they were so happy to have made such a wonderful meal (and my wife didn't have to cook!). Thank you Chef John!
Mmm some jalepenõ infused Maple syrup would be perfect on these. Thanks for sharing!
I can attest and do declare this is the BEST pulled pork spice mix. Unbelievable. Served this pancake nirvana this very morning to two of my favorite dads. Big hit! My husband will reheat for dinner - his request. Thanks Chef John!
I do smoked pulled pork all the time on our pellet grill. I bet that would be killer this way. Thanks again for making me look like a genius at home in the kitchen. Side note; my family absolutely loves the Russian honey cake recipe. I’ve made it now 6 times!! 😉
Chef John! I just made this with my wife for my family. Wow, wow, wow. Thank you for this masterpiece of a video, and the best pancakes I have ever had. Cheers, and keep up the fantastic work!
I've got about 3lbs of leftover smoked pulled pork in the freezer that I know what I'm doing with now. Thank you!
*that's a lot of pancakes for one serving*
*not that i'm judging...merely a culinary observation from a trained noticer*
The possibilities are endless for that pulled pork!
Did the pork minus the pancakes. We used rolls instead. It was a total hit!! Never had pulled pork that moist and deliciously tender!! Thanks chef John!!!
When you think about it, this is just like a really upgraded version of pancakes with sausage.
You are, after all, the Jordan Peele of your pancakes with cornmeal
This retiree has been teaching himself to cook. After over 10 years of random luck with recipe videos he found Chef John. Now there's a whole new yummy world out there. Forget about Gordon, Jamie, Marco, Emeril, Alton, Martha and Kenji - Chef John, you are the best. [Edit: OK, maybe add Kenji back into the list]
Is anybody else blown away that there wasn’t even a small dash of cayenne in the pancake mix?
I was waiting for it! lol I swear Chef John would put cayenne in his cold cereal.
*probably would have used a bit of chipotle' as well as i like the smoky kick it provides*
My hubby and I think we could make a drinking game out of his use of cayenne.. we don't drink enough to do so though.. 😁
I've been a Food Wishes fan for several years now but I think this is the first time I've ever seen Chef John attack a plate of food! He just kept talking and eating and eating and talking, until half the plate was gone. Big Daddy Eating. Made it look simple and delicious - simply delicious. Soon as the rain stops, heading to market to bring a lil' piggy wee-wee-wee, all the way home.
I love corn pancakes, and this is a really great combination!
We made this over the weekend also. This is indeed some succulent and flavorful pulled pork. I started mine on the smoker to develop the crust and add some smoke character then braised as per the video. This was flat out amazing. The sandwiches this makes are unbelievable. You gotta try this one.
A great candidate for my "cheat" method. Brown in the Dutch oven, transfer to the Instant Pot for 50 minutes with appropriate juices and finish back in the Dutch oven. Just in time for Father's Day. Thank you Chef John!
Shiny side down. Buttermilk reacts with baking soda differently than milk. Learned some new kitchen science today. I don't have any pork but I have all of the ingredients for the pancakes. I love pancakes. ❤️
Thanks Chef John after three months of lockdown and eating healthy food this is going to be the kiss of death.
Jiffy brand corn muffin mix for the best lazy man cakes. Waffles too!
We all love Chef John from food wishes
For posting these vids of his dishes
On Tuesdays and Fridays
We know we will always
Get an idea for something delicious!
Happy Father's Day, CJ!
I made this today and... OMG! Is it good. You did it again Chef. Thank you👏
Just when I started to get bored of how pancake is made and Chef John comes up with this beauty
I do eat my pancakes with prosciutto and caramelized onion, I'll definitely give this a try 🤤🤤
Wow the pork looks so delicious, I can’t wait to try this, hope mine is as good!
Me: *Let's eat healthy today!*
Chef John: *Not today my friend! 😈*
@sookableh Someone once accused me of *pun*-ishing my UA-cam audience.. I guess its true!
Father's Day brunch is a new tradition started out perfectly with this recipe. Plenty of leftovers for this evening on the pork is just a bonus!
This is gonna be amazing. Let's go!
OMG....saw the title and picture and my mouth watered. My mind is blown! This looks absolutely amazing!
Made this for my husband for Father’s Day as you suggested without fruit, lol. This was incredible!!! I’ll be making this again!!
This looks like chef got enlightened on the green herb, raided the fridge for leftovers and then thought. "Hey this is delish I'll make a video about it."
This looks goddamned delicious. And in case anyone's interested, that St Patty Melt from a few months ago was as good as Chef John promised.
Just wasn't into the pancakes at the time but.... made the pulled pork -Excellent! with the All American BBQ sauce-Excellent! Thanks again Chef John
Made these for my boyfriend for his birthday and they were amazing!!
Awesome recipe, I ended up substituting the maple syrup with honey because I was to lazy to go to the shop! And also used your dinner roll recipe for yummy sliders. Best pork sandwich ever! Thanks again for your channel chef!
My dad loved pork and I did take him out on father's day for brunch. He would have loved these pancakes.
This is the fine dining version of mancakes.
I am so down with this. 😋
I have my pancakes with savory toppings most of the time when I make them. I find that pancakes with the traditional syrup and butter leaves me feeling lethargic. Usually when I'm in the mood for sweeter ones I'll have it with yogurt and fruit. 😊
Thank you!
💜💚
Love how simple this is!!!!
Wow. You took that to a whole other level... I think I'm going to give it a try as a corn biscuit sandwich. What an innovative recipe. Thank you!
Had these for dinner for my first Father’s Day! It was delicious and thankfully there is some leftover pork for today.
You mad genius
Bringing Brunch to the country with a rustic twist
Who else is hungry as hell watching this in the wee hours of the morning?
"That's between you and gravity." 🥰
Watching Chef John go to town on that meal with a relish (hehehe) that I don't ever recall seeing in one of his videos before, tells me all about how delicious this must be.
At first I was like, "Is he just grasping at straws?" But then you mentioned father's day & I was like, "Yea, that's something my dad would totally eat."
damn. i'm stressing about what to do for my pops for father's day. should i make pulled pork pancakes?
Mine too. Sadly he's diabetic, so I pray to all the gods I don't believe in he never finds this video!
That’s the way you start off your day! Like the chopped pecans and chives on top idea from David Meyer.
Just AWESOME! So Freaking GOOD! Thank you so much and greetings from North Michigan USA.
Made the pulled pork today - really, really nice! The only changes I made was to use Ancho chilli powder instead of the Chipotle in the original recipe to use what I already had, and I put some liquid smoke in with the liquid content. I would definitely make this again! Thank you so much for sharing all your recipes Chef John/Food Dad! 😂 I have made a few of your recipes now (with more in the planning! 😏) and they always work and taste amazing! Thank you! 😁 🙏
I'm a pulled pork on corn bread waffles with coleslaw between but this looks mighty good as well.
My mouth is watering!
This, I am going to make soon!!!
Awesome channel Chef!
I missed you, Chef John!!
I'm uncontrollably drooling!
Made this early this morning with leftover pulled pork that had a slightly spicy Memphis BBQ sauce already on it. Omitted butter and syrup and it was 👌🏻👌🏻
This is INSANE! How did you even think of this! Can't wait to try!
This looks fantastic I’m gonna have to try it !!! Thanks for the video!!!
oh lawd this gives me the vapors
Hubz favourites include pulled pork and corn fritters. This is going to blow his mind!
I really like you recipe and your channel! Keep up the good work! Thank you and wish you good health!
i love you, chef john.
Salivary glands in hyper-mode just reading the title! OMG! Mille Grazie, Doctor Chef John!
"Pancakes can sense fear" is the most truthful sentence that has ever been uttered 😂
I'm going to make this for my husband for Father's day!
This is the perfect quarantine recipe! Though I kind of want to make cornbread waffles instead of pancakes because I like the crunch of waffles.
I thought the combination sounds like chocolate cheesecake, something that doesn't really go together as it's the wrong combination of flavours, but I can tell that Chef John has nearly finished the presentation before the end of the video proves that it must be tasty, very very tasty.
Chocolate cheesecake is amazing, and definitely not a wrong combination. This comes from a chocolateholic who will always prefer chocolate over anything else
this is one of the best videos i've ever seen
I wish chef John would do a series with dishes from around the world. One from each country.
“That’s between you and gravity.”🤣 DEAR GOD GIMME!🤤
"And we will finish up our dry ingredients with a little bit of bacon powder"
Some times you hear what you want to hear!
;-)
I have never been this early for a video, but omg my two favorite things!! Pancakes and pulled pork 😍💕
I've began trying to watch your videos AFTER I've eaten but to no avail. Salivating and belly rumbling still occur as a result every time.
If this delicious recepy is BREAKFAST that would mean that you have to wake up VERY early in the morning to do 3,5 hours pork in the oven! I wounder how late was your breakfast, Chef John ;) Always enjoying your Videos! They make me happy for some reason))
You are SO funny! You've taught me how to cook! Do you have any idea how much your skills have added to my life. I know, that's all goopy but I mean it.
Just made this today. Amazing.
I see pulled pork, i see pancake, i press like.
I love making southern fried chicken steaks with homemade waffles 🤤 defo gonna try this recipe.
My mouth is watering.
The collab you never knew you wanted!
Funniest episode we've had in a long while, too fun. Thanks!
Looks amazing. On my list of must try
Thank you for the info about butter and baking soda, that’s the first I’ve heard that they are meant to react with each other and that regular oil doesn’t do that.
I love sweet and savoury too and these look delicious! I'd love to give it a try someday :)
We are up early to start preparing this! Hopefully our dad enjoys it.

Dear God, I've never been a fan of sweet meat dishes but this makes me drool! Where's my bib!!!!????
