This is one of my favorite games of all time. I'm so happy it finally gets some recognition! Such a unique and interesting game - thanks for reviewing it!!!
Hi, inspired by - yes. Similar, I think not. When we made the game, Maren and I looked at Darkest Dungeon, but it is way more gritty and also plays with the violence more openly. In our game, we are not showing violence or blood. Also, the proportions (DD 1) are completely different. That being said, we really love the artwork of Darkest Dungeon as well. One of the key aspects for us was that we needed a style that would work in our crazily small team in a long run - as Maren had to draw hundreds of cards :-).
Hi on our shop and in Europe it is currently available (And it is now available in 9 languages!) . In the US/Canada Wyrmgold has made a deal with Capstone Games - they will make it available in 2024! Spread the word so we can help to get it to more countries/languages! :-) And thanks everyone for your support, it really is our fuel! 🙂
I've had this since august 2022. I like it but I would describe it as being a tough game to crack. How sneaky to be as the witch? How aggressive to be as the hunter? Length is a thing for sure. Cool I'm glad Zee finally got a change to play and review. I know he mentioned it like over a year ago. My rating was an 8.5, right between, but it could go up with more tinkering and practice.
Thank you - have you tried Beyond The Palisade? Or some of the content packs? When you start tinkering, you will see the possibilities :-) Happy gaming!
Granted, I've only played once, but I didn't really enjoy it. Other than the play being a little bland, I found that even when my opponent (the witch) kind of made the mistake of telegraphing who the real witch was, and I still had several turns left, it wasn't nearly enough for me to get all the resources I needed to that card to stop the ritual. Which is ultimately frustrating, because you know the answer but can't do much about it for several turns, and the game ends.
Hi, I guess you are looking for the US version? It will be available by Capstone Games in 2024. :-) Right now, we have it in our online store, but the shipping to US is currently insane...
@@tehbige73 In the US this is true - for now. In Europe, we are working with a lot of publishers already and also a lot of stores and whole sellers. In the US, our friends over at Capstone Games will help you with your gaming needs in 2024.
Card quality is different between 2nd and 1st printing. No mention of that from the publisher apart from a tiny bit on their Ks. Means the new cards dont match, very annoying.
That Review have some issues. Here just some things. The Corebox is inbalanced, in my Games The Hunter Never Wins a Game, it Screeams for Deckbuilding. U ask why the Hunter is Weaker in the Core box ? Because u loose all your tokens if you shoot the wrong citizen, and the cards in the base Game dont give u enough cards to Build up fast! U cant really recover from this! Aaaaaaaand, playing the witch forgives mistakes, but playing the Hunter and dont seeing the bullet comming, its over. The Witch can change the Game very fast, the Hunter cant. After fixing the core issues of the Game with Expansions, than it was a good Game! Didnt mention the Little icons? They Are horrible Tiny!
@@Sgrand80 of course you can :) feel free to argue. I love Card Games, i Play magic for 20 years; i love Commander, I have an all in in android netrunner and my Boys do the Same. In our Games everyone of us which played the Hunter lost. And we where always unhappy with the Cards in the core deck which Are too Slow. Playing the witch is more forgiving and she has a better combo potential in the core box.
@@TabletopFamily I personally avoid is all. I wasn't telling others to not play it. Maybe a game with a different theme and similar mechanics is out or will come out. I'm a youth minister who has board game nights with a group at church, I don't think it would sit well if I brought this out. That's why I have to pass on it. That's all. 🙂
@@TabletopFamily We usually do small games, Botanik, Lost Cities, Azul, both Trails and Parks, have been popular with the group lately. A few heavier games like Brass Birmingham, Lost Ruins of Arnak, Robinson Crusoe and 7th Continent have been fun as well.
I have to say, while the theme may not be child friendly, neither the Witch nor the Hunter are simply good/evil. They both just have an agenda they want to enforce by all means. The name btw comes from the Latin Paganus which means: While it means "Heathen" it also means "Belonging to the Village". This is why we chose it. :-)

The art of this game looks so similar to Darkest Dungeon, but seems to be a different artist.
Yes, I also immediately thought of Darkest Dungeon.
same thought it might be a spinoff at fitst
Agreed. That's what caught my interest too. The "only 2 player" though? Ehh, I have enough of those that never hit the table.

Agreed, never heard of the game but had to click on the video because I love that art style
I didn't expect you to review this one!
Was very curious what you'd think of it.
One of the best 2 player pvp card games!
Wow, great to hear!
Wish the game were actually available

Netrunner is my favourite game of all time.
I love the witch hunting theme.
This is an instant buy for me.

Okay Dicetower… great review. Makes me want to get the game… so where do you even get this????

@@wyrmgoldgood to know. Sounds like a great game so I’m happy to wait until it’s available locally! Thank you so much for the information.
Old-school CCGs were more convoluted than today. Not less.
Hahaha yes. The real early ones barely even used icons or keywords. Large swathes of texts.
lol no
Where to get?! Nom nom nom!
that's the neat part, you don't, in all seriousness this just fulfilled its second kickstarter but looks to have had little to no retail presence

I'll try any game that doesn't have hundreds of pieces and take an hour to set up.
I have this game and it is bloody brilliant. Annoying that it seems.so hard to find for people as it really is a great game!
Did someone forget to tell Joey to change out of his pajamas?

What part of the expansion do you use to fix this problem?
both green (tuckboxes) and the brown one
I Build the Hunter faster and the witch more Thematic, because she was already fast but had some Not necessary cards in it.
I disagree.

I love the mechanics, unfortunately I'll have to pass due to name & theme. Sucks, why everything fun has to have evil undertones these days? 😕
I hear ya. Blood on the Clocktower is the big one.
