Shiv is a fascinating synthesis of both her father and her mother - smart and quick on her feet, sometimes ruthless , sometimes tactical, but often motivated by personal grievance and cruelty
I think all these episodes are cycling through each of the kids trying to be the embodiment of Logan after his death. The first episode, after his death, showed the first child, Kendall (Connor excluded as always) being a killer and ended the episode with a smile. The second episode, after his death, saw the second child, Shiv being a killer and ended the episode with a smile. I suspect next week will show Roman, the third child on the third episode after Logan's death, trying to be a killer and probably ending with a smile. The point is, none of these kids are ready for it; Logan's last words to them were true and prophetic; they're not serious people. Also, Mattson calling them a tribute band is the solution to their problem. They need to stop thinking about what daddy would do and figure out what they actually want for the rest of their lives, which is difficult for emotionally stunted adults... Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.
It's money. There's money to put it somewhere else and they use UA-cam to attract listeners. I just watch/listen to Ringer on UA-cam though so it kind of sucks.
I felt like she orchestrated all of it. It was her advice mattson took and she set it all up and knew how her brothers would behave and she educated mattson in order to get a good deal done despite her fuck up brothers
The Ringer's new model is super frustrating lol "look at these super well produced clips of these podcasts on video that are only available in full on audio"
two things: Mattson telling Shiv such a dark potentially career ending secret has to be a play right? in order to let Shiv know that he can trust her? Unless he’s making it up or he’s just reckless and obsessive. And Shiv HAS to know what he’s doing, i doubt she’s naive enough to not catch on And am i the only one that feels like Ken might’ve been manipulating Roman this episode?
You are giving every character you mentioned WAY too much credit lol. Hasn’t Succession shown us over and over and over again that these business elites (including Logan) are NOT geniuses or masterminds? Matteson is not a Bond villain. He’s a shithead. He really did send his comms director his blood. And he really was stupid enough to admit that to Shiv. What’s Shiv gonna do with that info? Honestly, probably nothing. Because what is there to do with that info? Stop thinking of these people like they’re Omar, or Walter White, or Tony Soprano.
@@MadMaxFuryRose im not saying they’re geniuses but they’re not these inept idiots either, you seem to be the one underestimating Shiv got the same type of manipulation she’s receiving from Mattson right from her father so she should be able to see right through it, and Ken might be manipulating Roman the same way Logan did When it comes to Mattson i think he’s shown that he’s smart enough to pick apart the kids, he knew exactly what to say to Logan each time they met
the thing is Shiv has every guy in her hands: she kept Gerri to get down Roman, she knows about Kendall and the dead waiter , she gave Tom some one to serve and knows Mattson secrets plus she got rid of all the male old guard...so, yes, she's going full Logan there with turttle neck and all
I think Matson was playing Shiv. He was the stand in for the Logan figure. Wouldn't surprise me if the entire bloodmail story was made up to see if shiv was gonna use it to tank the deal. There was a moment when she considered it for a moment but didnt mention it. Matson is the next Zuckerberg to eat them and s*it them out as an app as Logan said. Matson is abusing all of th siblings Logan complexes. He got roman to break after getting him to joke about his dad's death and pissing on his company (Romans humiliation kink). He mentioned Vaulter to Kendal (kendals crown jewel project which was supposed to usher him in as new CEO in the first episode, only to have his dad make him gut it). He spared tom the same way Logan spared tom from the Entire cruise blame.
Right lolol and he’s using this whole “you’re just like one of the guys” shtick that Logan used to use on shiv whenever he wanted to manipulate her lolol why does anyone think this show would let one of the kids actually be “right” on everything lol
What if Shiv works it to make Tom CEO? After all, They are still married and he’s the father of her child… and that child becomes the new succession Plan. Because Kendal’s kids stand no chance. Roman can’t have sex. And Shiv’s baby becomes the next successor-to-be after Tom and Shiv’s reign as the new King and Queen
All this talk of Shiv pulling some masterstroke is tedious. She didn't seal the deal, she didn't "write the kill list" and she certainly didn't outplay Mattsson. Telling M to up the offer is a no-brainer, and he said it himself. He was obviously always prepared to pay more than his initial offer (and he's only upped it a couple of percent). Getting him to go over, say, $200 or increasing the cash:stock split, or a million other possible bargaining chips would have been actual negotiation. It was pretty obvious that the Olds were blown away by the initial offer so getting it past the board was never going to be difficult. And sure, he listened to her about Gerri and Karolina - but again, it's not a huge deal. We know they're both way more valuable than the others. Plus, he's genuinely in potential legal trouble with his head of comms.. so keeping those personnel from Waystar is a pretty obvious move. Personally I think he was intoxicated enough (and maybe stupid enough) that the blood thing is true. Shiv didn't exactly handle it like a pro though. Her advice to stop doing that, don't fire the victim, and pay her to keep quiet (catch and kill).. again, it's solid but it's nothing very sophisticated or creative. And if it was all made up, then he's just played her like a flute. It's fine for Shiv to look out for her interests, but that's all she was doing. She knows (or suspects) the brothers are behind the campaigns to undermine both the deal and her father's legacy. So she's just pushing ahead with her agenda because in the end if the deal goes through it's going to be irrelevant what they do. She wins this episode because she wasn't as dumb as Roman, or Kendall, or Hugo, or Greg, or fucking Ray, or Tom.. but that's a pretty low bar this week. They were all monumentally stupid this episode. Looking forward to how it all shakes down and which heads roll in the coming weeks.
Yeah, I’m not sure why people still think this show is leading towards some individual character “winning” the board like some chess grandmaster lol None of those characters are as as smart as they think they are and the show ALWAYS shows that in some way.
Yes, but....the Roy's still hold all the cards. They have something Mattson wants and they can take it away from him no matter how hard he browbeats them. In fact his alpha weird Swedish tech-bro shtick actually backfires quite badly on him. None of these people including Mattson are as smart as they think they are.
I saw the dynamics differently - I could be wrong - but it’ seems all about ATN. Shiv has a strong emotional, moral, and biased opinion against ATN. She thinks GoJo would be the end of ATN. They won’t understand it, or how to keep it going. Kendall and Roman know this and want to salvage ATN. They are still under the spell of their dad - how could possibly they let a Swede play with their father’s favorite toy?
It doesn’t work for me. Shiv would be Gerri to Matsson’s Logan. The show would fall flat for me if all these seasons were leading to one of the kids essentially being Tom or Frank or something
all shiv wants is to sell the company, as soon as this deal is done, she out shopping for another one (because in her current position, she can't do anything ,it's just Ken and Rome and in Pierce, it can be all 3 (or maybe she wants to be solo in pierce as well)
Greg will save the family. Even though they treat him the way they do he is family…. Even Ken came to his defense when Mattison was laughing at him…. Grandpa Ewan will prob come into play at the end…. Recall when it was thanksgiving and Ken tried to say Logan was not all there Ewan still was on his brothers side…. I believe Greg will have his grandpas seat on the board and will have the last say in regards to the deal with Mattison
Forgot she was pregnant, a fan yet not that big of fan. Seems she did drink with Matssen, looked like alcohol (maybe not) but if your going to point fingers about rather she drank or not or how much, she did a bump with him. (No pun intended) Cocaine - yet not a mention in this thread calling her out about that. (in this purely fictional world)
episode 3 was brillant, but with logan dead this episode means nothing to me, the stakes have no meaning now, it feels like the show is running in mud unsure of where to go................uber rich kids getting richer........who cares now
It's not "nearly $200 billion". When they're saying $144 or $192 its price per share, not billions of dollars.

Great insight. Everyone wants to cheer on This Week's Winner but I think in the end they'll all lose (the kids that is)

It's on their podcast "The Watch"
I’ll have to watch this episode again. Everyone was giving good face 😂.
Shiv is the most cut throat of all the kids- she blackmailed her father on her wedding re cruises and Gil. She is most like Logan.
The price of 192 was dollars per share, not $192 billion total.
That was one of the best strong female lead episodes in any show ever. That was fucking sick how it played out.
