One of the coolest people. One who actually liked fans and was always nice to them. One who actually liked Star Trek and was proud to have touched so many minds. I am just sorry I never got to meet him.
Trusteft he would have loved to have met you. Seriously, Mr. Nimoy would have shook your hand smiled, and even talked to you for a minute or two. He was a good man. Even if you never met him in person just as long as his work has touched your life in a positive way is enough to keep his memory alive. 🖖
He acted and directed in Star Trek, he sang a song about the Hobbit and he created a one-man play about Vincent Van Gogh... Three things I'm huge huge fans of... And I'll never get to meet him til I reach the Undiscovered Country!
@@Blockheadfun non-Brits can only receive an honorary Knighthood and aren't allowed to use the title Sir/Dame. Can't attest to whether or not he deserved one though
I love how Mr. Nimoy seems to appreciate his fans and the affection they're showing him. I doubt many other celebrities (known for being an actor) would sing a song from a 40+ year old album just because "mere" fans encouraged him to. This is why I love Leonard Nimoy. He's always gracious and willing to go that extra mile for his fans.
I saw him at a University of Michigan football game when he walked on the field to direct the marching band in the Star Trek theme. I almost fainted. It was magical.
Mr Nimoy and I had a run-in back in the '90s at the San Diego Comic Con. I mean literally -- he was with his party walking across the big hall through the crowd and in the crush of people he was bumped into and fell over against me. I ended up on the floor at his feet. I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was pretty much what you'd expect -- "Excuse me, are you all right?", or words to that effect. I was, of course, fine, and we went our separate ways. A great story for my kids!
Aug 29, 2009 Toronto: that's my LP: someone asked about his 60s records and I had it with me: I just held it up high; he asked me to bring it up on stage; then several others came up to get stuff signed; what a lovely gracious man, always cherish this memory RIP Leonard
One of the coolest guys ever to grace the phosphor tube. Out of all the star trek cast members, nobody is as entertaining as Leonard Nimoy. Ok, he can't sinng but its so much fun to watch him try.
This is great! He obviously doesn't mind talking about his 'music career' back then and does so here with warmth and good humour! Thanks for posting :)
He's a class act. He knows what crap it was, but understands what fun it represents for his fans. What a great guy. Too bad all actors aren't as genuine.
I went to a really bad "star trek convention" around 1992. There really was no convention to speak of. But we did get to hear Shatner and Nimoy speak for about 40 minutes each. What amazed me was how vastly different were the two men when it came to entertaining a live audience. Nimoy could talk about anything and kept the audience in rapt attention. Listening to him felt a lot like hanging out with an old friend. Shatner was only funny at the transition point while he had Nimoy there to poke fun at. The rest of the time, he was difficult to take. He just came off like a pompous ass. Like William Fucking Shatner. Then he seemed to come alive again when Nimoy rejoined him on stage for the last 10-15 minutes. I learned a lot about how different these two men are that night. If you have never seen it, look up "Wil Wheaton performs William Fucking Shatner". You'll learn a lot about old Bill. But you just have to laugh. Upon being snubbed entirely by the Star Trek 50th celebration, shatner was interviewed and claims the event Wil was upset about never happened. Or really he just doesn't remember it because he's an egotistical narcissist.
I saw him get a ticket from the LA county sheriffs dept. Him and his wife were eating frozen yogurt in front of a yogurt place, parked in a handicap parking space.. this was sometime about 1995. He was driving a blue Volvo wagon, logical car to have.
was never a Star Trek fan, but man did i love Leonard Nimoy when he appeared in other things. I loved the Monorail and Alien episodes of The Simpsons which he guest starred in. xD
Like most pre-internet babies, I first heard the song on Saturday night's Dr. Demento show. Did not even know Spoke cut albums as there was no "Amazon" or "ebay" to check these s tings out on in those days. Good post. Thank you
A song that sounds like it was written in 10 minutes and the music video looks like it was filmed in the same amount of time! 🤣 Still, lovely to see the late, great Leonard Nimoy more than happy to laugh at himself and give the fans what they want!
How fun ..... Leonard Nimoy is a very good sport ...... I was hooked on Mr. Spock from the first night the series aired ...... I wanted to be Mr. Spock .... and now at 60, in many emotional ways I ended up like him ..... sad, really.
I always liked Nimoy because he fought nearly every script to keep Spock consistent and true to character. No other actor would have risked alienation for their character. Plus he actually wrote his own autobiography, unlike Shatner's ghost-written garbage.
@potophan2006 Well, he is almost 80, after all. Not that many people can sing as good at that age as when they were young. He does continue, however, to be a cool guy.
It would have been funny if after the fans asked him to sing he said : "I...uh...gotta go to my car and get... something"---and he walks out and you hear a car start and drive off. After an awkward pause someone would say: "I don't think he's coming back." 😋😋😋

Sadly, ME TOO😪

Undiscovered Country? You mean peace between Humans and Klingons?
I own one of his albums and I can confirm that "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" is probably his best musical performance ever.
The music video is weird as hell though.
RIP, Sir Leonard Nimoy. Your talents were truly endless, your genius WILL be missed!!
He was never knighted.
puffnisse knight dees nuts
puffnisse he should have been. One of the nicest people ever Mr. Nimoy loved his fans. He is greatly missed even after a few years.

Yes, but not really...
I love how Mr. Nimoy seems to appreciate his fans and the affection they're showing him.

I met him at a book signing in Chicago. Even with the long lines of people he was upbeat, friendly, and greeted each person with a smile.
Nothing would be cooler than having this man as your grandpa!! He has a great storytelling voice.
Live forever among the stars⭐️
That was an amazing comment
Of all the souls I have encountered...
He was the most... Human
Truly a classy guy. Great to see he doesn’t take himself so seriously
The older he gets the more bad ass and eerily resonant his voice becomes...
There will only ever be one Spock and that is Leonard Nimoy.
Hes a great actor in whatever he does too.
I saw him at a University of Michigan football game when he walked on the field to direct the marching band in the Star Trek theme. I almost fainted. It was magical.
Wow, what a cool story.., I would most certainly fainted.

Your a class act Mr Nimoy, so many today give their fans so much less, you could tell you were having fun with it! Hats off to you Sir!
I was in this audience :)
I was too and I loved his sense of humor. Just regret I did not brink my lp to be signed.
You are so lucky 😊
It's great how he still remembered all the words.
You'll always be remembered with fondness
HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY LEONARD NIMOY!!!
LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!!!!
Should've been the theme of The Hobbit...

He's such a dear man. Now that he's older he reminds me so much of my grandfather.
Leonard Nimoy is an absolute legend, by any conceivable measure!
Love Ya' Leonard Nimoy! You'll be missed!
hes so adorable awww

I had the distinct pleasure to meet him at a book signing.
His Sons Documentary Brought Me Here. Bilbo Baggins has been stuck in my head for 3 days now.
The man will always be LEGENDARY!
I'm glad he can have fun with himself like that. I am looking forward to meeting him at Dragoncon this year!

‘‘Finally! Something not related to Star-Trek!‘‘ He must have been so glad!
Thank you LN, for everything
Cool video, thanks for sharing! 👍
ok that brought a smile to my face.
That is too cute. I ended up missing his panels at DragonCon this weekend due to hotel issues, so this is such a nice treat. Thanks!!
I love that song.
Love him
He seems like a really funny and personable guy!
I love him.
I wish I had been here in person 😍 but, next best thing 😊
Nice, now this is a amazing moment between fans and a awesome actor. :D
God, I miss him.
This was brilliant.
I saw him get a ticket from the LA county sheriffs dept. Him and his wife were eating frozen yogurt in front of a yogurt place, parked in a handicap parking space.. this was sometime about 1995. He was driving a blue Volvo wagon, logical car to have.

The only actor id like to meet.
Sadly you wont meet . He died today
When i was young and immature i poked fun at this
Now i am old and still immature but in a different way . I dont poke fun at this now i treasure it
nice nice nice leonard nimoy rocks
He was great
I miss Mr nimoy lol what a bloke lol
Leonard haphazardly tossing his albums onto the table is my favorite part of this
I imagine if he'd been given the chance, Nimoy would have taken up skeet shooting just to GET RID OF all those terrible albums!
I miss the cute girls bouncing around. But this is priceless. Very envious of the folks in the audience witnessing this.
i cant wait to watch the Nimoy episode of big bang!!!!
haha! that was awesome. This song made my day.
Still has a great voice...
What a legend!

Awesome. Just awesome.
I would have teased the heck out of Nimoy about this song if I had gotten a chance!
Thank you.
I have the biggest smile on my face! :D

he is so lovable!
the definition of Gentle Man
I LOVE YOU NIMOY!!!!
Nimoy was a legend. He managed to keep a strait face with those pointed ears.
Y'all should see the video about him vs Zachary Quinto, it's hilarious

Love a celebrity who can laugh at himself!
He's such a nice guy.
He's such a sweet man.
What a man.
God I miss him.
Awesome 😊
What a good sport!
Class act
A Great Human Bean...
Such a cool guy.
I always thought he did voice of Gandalf in the Hobbit cartoon. Turns out it was John Huston. Never realised how similar both actors sound.
awesome guy
A true gentleman.
He's so cool.
that was cool of him
I love you forever good sir!!!
How nice! I don't think I have the Bilbo Baggins 45, but I know I have 6 Nimoy LPs : )
@tsukishime I was there! It was so awesome!

The measure of every vulcan.

This video is funny XD I like him.
He was SO unlike his character Spock; great guy RIP

Imagine him playing Gandalf
