Rambagh Palace, located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, is one of India's most iconic and luxurious hotels. Its history dates back to 1835 when it was initially constructed as a modest garden house. In the late 19th century, the garden house was transformed into a royal hunting lodge.
The most significant transformation came in the early 20th century. Under the reign of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, who ascended the throne in 1922, Rambagh underwent extensive renovations and expansions. Rambagh Palace served as the principal residence of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II and his wife, Maharani Gayatri Devi
After India gained independence in 1947, the princely states were integrated into the Indian Union. Despite the political changes, Rambagh Palace remained a private residence of the Jaipur royal family for several years. In 1957, Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II decided to convert Rambagh Palace into a luxury hotel to sustain its upkeep and share its grandeur with the world. Taj Hotels, Resorts, and Palaces, a premier hospitality chain in India, took over the management in 1972.
