I was working in the BB studio with Daniele, Mirko and Valerio : The bass has beeen made by R-BassLine, the piano was not from korg m1 but with 2 different piano sets by Akai S900, strings from Proteus and Akai and some drum sound from Linn also. There is not absolutely organ with the line of the bass. The 16/4 sequencer was made with a organ inside a wuah wuah for guitar (and there is a guitar as well). You can find the same sounds on a previous production of them called Starlight “Numero 1”.
Hey man! This was awesome information 😃😃 So nice that you took the time to explain this , and thank you for watching my video. Cool - I’m honoured 👍😃👍😃👍😃
Thanks a lot for this information Zanfosanfani, because I've tried for many weeks to reproduce the mythic Black Box piano with my Korg M1 (preset Piano 16')... without success. Please could you tell me which S900 library sounds were used (I listened all the piano sounds in the SL500 library, but nothing seems to the Black Box piano) ? I would be pleased to talk this topic with you. Thanks a lot by advance.
@@nofrontierprod hello, at those times were not a lot of kind of pianos library for Akai S900/950 so if you are able to find the libraries, for sure you will find what you looking for. All the piano parts were played by Mirko Limoni and programmed into the Akai by Valerio as well, i say programmed because the sound was a little bit modified in attack and decay from original preset. The name of the preset onestly i don’t remember, 35 years passed by and unfortunately i lost contact with Black Box since they moved and retired to UK from Italy
Thanks a lot @zanfozanfani for your answer. I've got the S900 libraries, so I'm going to investigate more, even though I think it will not be easy to find it, because you precised in another answer that 2 pianos sets were used. So I think Mirko or Valerio merged them into the S900 to get that unique sound. As many others and almost all the web sources, I thought that the Korg M1 was responsible for this piano… and no, finally ! And now I understand the reason why I couldn’t emulate the Black Box piano with my M1. In this regard, the same or very similar piano sound can be heard on Electronic « getting away with it »(1989) : ua-cam.com/video/DSfjtdnUsls/v-deo.html or Keith Thompson « Love is not a toy » (1988) : ua-cam.com/video/69foJsd_Lfc/v-deo.htmlsi=lGX0H92_LIb0CB1C&t=62. May be at that time, producers used to exchange samples. Interesting, isn’t it?
This song is one of my alltime favourites. My father played it when I was very little and we danced to it in the kitchen, it has a special place in my heart and it never fails to get me in a good mood. Great video, glenn!
Many have copied, sample and otherwise appropriated the late great Loleatta I met her once in person and she might actually have been proud of what you did here. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for posting
Wow this is absolutely amazing.😮 you are so great at what you do. I e always wanted to know how to play piano and you are truly an inspiration. 👍🏼🥰 discovered your channel today, plus this song is awesome.
Questions for @zanfozanfani Heather Small recorded the whole song and you guys just sample Lolleatta Holloway(for the chours) or was a mix of both throughout the whole song?? Was you part of the second Black Box album where Chavoni was the vocalist?
Italo House was a DJ music or house music definition, one-person band. Those DJs did not have vocals. Search song "Never Gonna Give You Up" - Rosso Barocco. These innovative DJs and producers helped to change the sound of dance music in the late 80s with the incredible sound of Black Box and their various remixes. Rosso Barocco is one of their studio mix projects - taking Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" and placing samples of First Choice, Ecstasy's "This Is House." They were the first ones to do it in Europe.
Italo House 89. European dance music producers in the 90s were inspired by this song. (The computer bass line i think originates from Italo Disco Disco King - Carrara)
