Great video....Barq root beer is the best.... I think it is best in a glass bottle... hopefully the building gets fixed... Restaurant looked great.... great music too.... Thanks for sharing.. take care... Have a great day... Thanks....👍👍👍👍
I remember A&W and Barqs up here in north Florida . I know now why I love your content we think alike I always want to know history behind everything. I also like to know people and their backstories. Thank you for what you do I love it.
Welcome to my neck of the woods! I did a video on the Barq's building last year when it was leaning really bad (previous hurricanes almost took it from us). Back then, you couldn't see much inside it. Glad to see they're putting some work into it and got it back on better shape. Oddly enough, Coke doesn't own the building (I think the Barq family still owns it). Did the neighbor across the street make his presence known like he did when I was there? Lol There's another Barq's building to the left of the Ground Zero Blues Club. They are renovating it for bars, shopping etc... It's not as "famous" as the original though as it wasn't a production type building, but one the family owned and rented to various tenants. That barber shop is where I go for my beard trims. Super cool owner! BTW, what part of MS are you from?
Micah!!! My wife and met you and Abby tonight on our way out of HHN and we would’ve loved to have had time to get a drink with y’all! Hopefully we can next time!!!
Very cool history! Love the Biloxi area! We have stayed at Beau Rivage many times over the years. Stay in touch my friend! Hope to see you sometime on the road!
NICE!! Had no idea you were in town. I live here in Biloxi (I'm on the other side of Back Bay on the north side of the bridge). Love me some Barq's, but damn if I don't hate Cruisin The Coast. Those folks with their cars have a tendency to go 20 mph in the left hand lane while the rest of us are trying to get to work.
Today I got a Barq's with too much syrup at an amusement park and said "this is probably the best Barq's I've ever had". and now I'm watching this. thanks for making these videos.
You should look into Kress building of which you were just inside one when you went to Group Zero. There are several throughout the country. S.H. Kress were 5 and Dime stores and the building architecture is preserved. There is one in downtown Orlando as well as downtown Tampa.
For a limited time in the 80's Barq's put out slightly stronger version of their root Beer called "Amberjack" it really was a super premium but it was too ahead of it's time.
As a kid I went through a phase where that's literally all I would drink. It's been a long time since I had it. I feel like you don't see it around at restaurants etc. as much as you used to.
Literally my favorite soda! Awesome video brother
Thanks man!
Nothing beat a vanilla bean ice cream with a cold Barqs Root 🍺 Beer, taste of glory!!!
That just sounds... Delicious.
Being from the UK where it is very tricky to find rootbeer, I always misread the brand as "Bangs" rootbeer. Now I know!
I can see how it looks like “Bangs” lol never thought about that
@@worldofmicah- I loved the video thank you and I look forward to the rootbeer whenever I get over to Florida.

This place needs to be a museum I hate when historic companies don’t save or use places they started. It’s a shame
I think they are fixing it up
Oddly enough, Coke doesn't own it.
I’m from Biloxi. Awesome video, thanks for showing the history.
Great video, Micah! I loved Barq's root beer growing up as well.
It’s got the bite!

This might be my new favorite video of yours! This is awesome!
Mine was A&W. We had the pull in, serve at the window of the car! Hot bologna sandwiches and cold glass mugs for your root beer! Love the 80’s.

learned something new with this video! great job! Growing up we never had Barqs in PA, we had Mug or Barrelhead
Neat history. Barqs is a good root beer. The car meet is just amazing. Thanks Micah.

Oh yeah I’m familiar with them! Very cool history indeed
@@worldofmicah There's also a Kress building still in use (now as offices/businesses); built in 1928 renovated 2015 in downtown St Petersburg.

Can you visit the Ernest house old house. Just finished all the movies and curious how the area did after Ian?
my favorite was always the red cream soda..living in Florida you can't find it..we do have the root beer
Barq’s Root Beer, is STILL THE BEST (over A&W root beer)-my opinion only 😊
It’s definitely the taste I prefer
As a kid I went through a phase where that's literally all I would drink. It's been a long time since I had it. I feel like you don't see it around at restaurants etc. as much as you used to.

A lot of soft drinks were created in the south, because of the Bible Belt alcohol laws.
