I wish my region got cold enough to justify a 4 season berg. I own a Helags 2 and ended up having to buy the mesh inner to sleep comfortably. Absolutely love my anaris though. It’s not the lightest backpacking tent but I feel like I’m in staying in something luxurious every time I take it out.

No, the Nammatj with Leather Patch was made before 2002 and Made in Sweden, compared to all the later versions after that, that are made in Lutenias Hilleberg Factory. The old Nammatj was originally delivered with a violett Easton Alloy 9.8mm.
So my guessing is, that the former owner swapped the thicker Alloy Poles for the thinner 9mm and also swapped the Guylines for the thinner ones, just to save a bit of weight.
I have a red Nammatj 3 what was also made in Sweden before 2002. And it has the 3mm Guylines and also this violett 9,8mm Easton Alloy Poles as normal Stamdart.
    Cheers

Highly recommend the groundsheet, not just for protecting and prolonging the life of the inner, or comfort but also assists with condensation when on vegetation. The side guylines can be cut/split into two (although recommend getting additional guys) to give you additional anchor points and would recommend additonal guys. I believe with the ever obsession for weight in today's market the weight of additional pegs/guys is undesirable, but for those using them for their intended purpose, then additional side anchor points are vital. As good as hillebergs are, once you lost that side anchor they can fail very quickly. Additional pegs in a storm give you chance to get out and sort whilst still having a side anchor. Safe travels.

If memory serves me correctly (not likely), I thought the Nammatj had 10mm poles back then, as I had an Akto and wondered how much sturdier that would be if I double-poled it with two Nammatj 10mm poles as they are the same length as the Akto's pole. I'm pretty sure the Nammatj had 3mm guylines as the Akto was one of their lightweight tents which had 2mm guylines. This was before Hilleberg brought in the Yellow, Red and Black labelling system.
Maybe whoever the previous owner was modded it with lighter poles & guys, but that seems rather unlikely and rather expensive!

Yes I thought it was unusual but lines poles definitely thinner. Interesting to see what others say.

I have a 1997 nammatj 3 gt. I do see 2 differences between the old one you have and mine.
The poles are hold in a little plastic pot… ( side where you slide them in…) looks different from what I can see in your video.
Also the rope tensioners looks different…

In my experience and that's over 12 years camping in various shelters in most UK weather and whenever possible I never ever never do doors up and leave vents open it's never an issue. Not sure when people struggle so much. Vents open 100% of time unless rain snow gets in but rain do Vents up half way doors open unless close for structural integrity in wind or rain gets in then leave as open as possible. Never do inner up. It's simply never needed outside snow fall thank you 😊

On the old one you also can choose just to have mosquitonet down to be able to be inside and look out to all mosquitos. I have the old version, 3GT since 20+ years.

Very interesting comparison. Where did you find this old Namatji? Was it at an auction or is it one of your tents? Kind regards from Switzerland.

I found it on Ebay for a song and thought I’d take a punt on it and so far really like it. It’s been well-used. It’s comparatively light too. I saw an old Keron 3 gt on there recently that I nearly bought.
