I had to explain how much we consider ourselves Africans and all the ways it shows up in our culture (which they knew next to nothing of) ... I agree with his point about Africa’s richness. Africa has abundant natural resources and human potential, but it has been exploited and oppressed by external forces and internal elites. Our leaders are corrupt and selfish, caring more about their own wealth and status in the West than the welfare of their fellow Africans. They brag about their trips to London, Paris, or New York, while ignoring the poverty and injustice at home. He is a genius for lecturing this truth. I also admire the Caribbean islanders for their awareness and activism on black lives. They are more enlightened than many Africans or black Americans who have internalized racism and oppression.

As a child of Afro- Caribbean decent we are aware of our motherland, how we got here etc, unfortunately my peers at Grundtivg international school Anambra State Nigeria 🇳🇬 were unaware of why my skin was black if I wasn't from Nigeria. That was years ago of course, but just as Afro- Caribbean people are educated in schools about the motherland, Africans born on the continent must learn about us, we are the children of your ancestors who we bought to the New World.

We here are more aware of Africa, than some born in the continent. I live I Nigeria from the age of 9 to 15 and slavery was never thought.
A continent that is unaware of it's past it can be detrimental to it's future.
Thank you for helping bridge the gaps and together we can make Africa greater 💪

Very telling encounter. Swami told the truth. Interesting, no rep of kenya on his collage. When gems were being dropped, there appeared to be some hesitation from Tigress. JS

I've studied Caribbean Civilization at UWI Cavehill and I can say that this rastaman is well informed. He will be a great asset to those who wish to gain knowledge about African history and colonialism.
