Beautiful song and do you all know that Dougie and the Butterstone community have spent nearly two years taking care of everyone? Free music every week and just lovely stuff.
kathy and dougie compliment each other beautifully~if you don't care for their duet, feel free to vanish. i've met dougie several times, and each time he's shown me that he's a genuinely nice man, no pretense whatsoever, no "star-ego". i love this version, and applaud both Artists! i feel sorry that some cannot appreciate the effort, and talent of all there. so yeah, bugger off mr brown.
Dougie is so refreshingly real...as Kenneth has said, no pretense, no glitz, just the real thing...he can write touching songs & sing them so sincerely...thanks, Dougie...wish you'd come to beautiful Kaslo, BC, on Kootenay Lake...we'd show you a great time & fill the Langham Theatre to hear you!
To my mind, after these past nearly 2 years, Dougie is the kindest of men and an absolute hero. And Jenny and the Butterstone family. At first in lockdown, Dougie did songs every few days. When he started doing the monthly ticketed events, it was so special and still is. Bless them all.
For anyone knockin' Kathy singing with Dougie, I love Dougie AND.... my favorite version of "Ready for The Storm" is the one he does with Kathy. Her passion and their harmonies take it to another level!!
tantraman10 could not agree with you more! going to see Dougie in August when he sings in Schenectady, NY. Cannot wait! First time seeing him live! My dream.
I love this video he is so attractive.his voice is so beautiful.favorite video but love them all. when he sings it's about the simplicity of life.he is very inspiring.the Scottish in my dna draws me to his music.❤❤❤❤💋💋💋💋
Sentiments that capture my feeling of this beautiful day! So blessed. Ah, if only Dougie was playing out on the rocks - a grand dance we could have in the moonlight...I feel so near.
I had a comment about his Mary Queen of Scots song and the person handling it wouldn't show it because i mentioned that she was a Christian. This is wonderful uplifting music and comes from the true and pure heart of Scotland. Something wonderful there which can create a Jean Redpath and Dougie Mclean.
Thanks so much for sharing this video--wish I could download it! This I believe is from Song Roads., and was filmed in 1996. I was there visiting Dougie, after producing his first concert in Alaska. Had a grand time with him, Kathy and both of their bands. I played with him at his home show in Dunkeld, and at the dance at Butterstone (there's a very brief clip in the video), where among other things I got to dance with his mum, Dolina. Also had some mad evenings with them. This really brought it back. I've tried to get a copy of Song Roads, but no joy so far. Would love to see it in general, and because there may be some shots of me in it! Cheers!
@@davidhardwick3816 Indeed. Dougie gave me the words and a general idea of the tune, and I performed it with some friends at the Alaska Folk Festival before Riof was released. That was a first for me!
Some years ago i used to drink with dougie and jenni at the meickleour hotel I blew myself up in a petrol, explosion near dougies home as my parents live nearby , ended badly burnt and dundee royal burns units beds cost a fortune dougiw immediately suggested a charity fundraising concert for more beds for them , kindest regards
Wonderful story, Gavin. I, too, have spent time with Dougie when he's been in the US, drinking, having dinner etc with a group of friends - he is indeed a very fine guy
Hey guys...just happened by here and I am seeing some comments below about Kathy Mattea. It really surprises me that some of them are unflattering. My guess is that those of you who do not actually know her are not aware that she is a very accomplished musician herself and she is only singing back ground harmony here. You should hear her solo at her best if you have never heard it. It is not a coincidence that they paired up..if you hear her sing you will see that their style is quite similar. Here is a clip of Kathy at her best. This is called Untasted Honey by the album of the same name. ua-cam.com/video/2s4upGyXc7M/v-deo.html
@CamMikeProduction Can you send me the lyrics and the chords to any of Dougie's songs that you have? I have all his CD's and have followed him since 1992. Thanks!
That is Jonathan Yudkin, who was in her road band at the time. He's been a session musician in Nashville since then. Talented musician, plays fiddle and guitar, too. He and Dougie did a fiddle duet on "Flowers of Edinburgh" on an American TV show around the time this show was taped, and he was just as good if not better than Dougie.
She's a prfoessionally trained musician with a beautiful voice and style, and sometimes that's the way she enunciates the words and gets the notes out......would you rather she be somebody else? Maybe she could do a Michael Jackson moonwalk to entertain you......
Great song, but what is Kathy doing at 2:20 - 2:25 and 4:46? Catching flies? Did she throw her jaw out of joint? Trying to get rid of a bit? I notice that Dougie looks away when she does that jaw contortion. Anyway, it's a great song!
Your old man looks out to the islands - and feels the crashing winds of Kathy Mattea's South Charleston?! Wha' hey man. I should take those drugs! Or else go back to the Western Isles… and drop the Mattea!
Beautiful song and do you all know that Dougie and the Butterstone community have spent nearly two years taking care of everyone? Free music every week and just lovely stuff.
I was not born in Scotland, but my soul belongs to this country
Dougie is a proper generational music man from the Highlands.
What could be better , than people making music , lifts the soul
Not just ANY music, but melodic, gentle, thoughtful, kind - TOUCHES the soul!
Someone sang this at a memorial for a mate of mine yesterday... lovely song.

I was lucky enough to see him in a small venue in Oklahoma City years ago. I will never regret having seized that opportunity ! Fabulous singer.
I live in Philadelphia and he's making his rounds in New England in September and I'm wrestling with the option of making the 5 1/2 hour drive!
Chris D do it you won't regret it .............. from Scotland

This song is such a beautiful gift. In my own quest for connection with nature, it made me realise: I feel so near.
Favorite singer, song writer and song all in one. Kathy Mattea and Dougie are magical together.
This is such a great version of this Dougie classic
I met him at a small show and I may have told him that I learned this song on the piano. It is a beautiful song, thank you!
