You can just picture the pistons thrusting and the drivers spinning, hammering the rails as the train reaches speed, cheering soldiers with rifles hanging from the boxcars and flat wagons, red banner waving over them, of to war.....
The recording I have (remastered by FGL Productions) "slows down" a bit after the train reaches "full throttle," but this train keeps running at high speed - I like it!
Echelon after echelon, Echelon after echelon: The road is wide. The commander gave the order - and off we go, Waving with a white handkerchief to the blue Don. Camp life made us friendswith you, Voroshilov, We rushed together into the battle: The enemy recalls with anguish The Battle for Belaya Kalitva, The Battle for Kalach Station. For Tsaritsyn, for Tsaritsyn Day and night we'll be fighting, Crossing pikes with pikes And the rain won't wash it away, it can't be dried by the winds, the blood of the workers and peasants The commander gave the order - and off we go! Waving with a white handkerchiefto the blue Don. Echelon after echelon Echelon after echelon: The road is wide.
I notice that one of the lines in the written text is different from what they actually sing: it is not "На бугре и в волчьей яме", but "и не осушить ветрами". The translation, then, will be "and the wind won't dry it out", rather than "on the mound and in the pit".
@riverhouse2007 Me too! by the way I ask to my friends about that by showing all photos of soloist, and they answer Nikitin too, because he looks very cute only by looking from his eyes XD
You couldn't find a picture of a locomotive without a big placard saying "The Scarborough 8PM Express" on it? Hard to imagine it's a Russian locomotive. Doesn't even look Russian, and the song is about railway warfare in the Civil War.
Perfeito!

The steam roller of the Revolution speeds forward!
Very effective and most enjoyable.I have just heard it on Scala Radio, and am very pleased I could find it on You tube as a permanent reminder.
Which episode did you hear it from?

Glad you enjoyed it!
I wonder who is or was the handsomest Ensemble singer? Nikitin was cute when young.
