I want to hear from the older guys. Jeff Fort was born in the 1940's. The older generations will give better insight of the socio-political agenda of the Black Stone Rangers. Historically, black youth was extremely deprived resources in Chicago, the city was always the most mob run city. Resources, jobs, housing, and government contracts are parceled out to the most connected community leaders, the most connected community leaders were the gangsters. Irish gangsters, Jewish gangsters, Italians gangsters, blacks gangsters etc... But you bring the youth together with the ideology that the system is anti-black and the system is inherently corrupt, and you are being targeted more than any other group, therefore the criminal methods you use to achieve power within the system is justified. And the higher ranking members of the organization put together guidelines and doctrines that included a long-term political agenda. They would shape the organization in a way that was conducive to empowerment on all levels, the streets was only one component of many. They would enforce discipline among members that committed acts that went against the overall empowerment agenda. Empowerment was attainted through all methods. Every mob had a political agenda. They dealt with politicians on local level, and they dealt with politicians on the federal level. They would secure funding and resources for their organizations and communities. Politicians were forced to negotiate deals because american blacks make up such a large percentage of Chicago and the organizations dictated the culture and political ideology of ALL communities, but especially black communities. The Latin gangs have political history and political rhetoric in their literature, they essentially followed the black gangs lead. White gangs started falling in line with the black gangs, if they didn't they got pushed out.

Chicago has always had its own street culture. Has nothing to do with LA. Chicago organization came before LA street gangs. If anything its the other way around Chicago organizations influenced LA street culture.
