I’m from Sweden where they’re very good at high speed rail. In fact, that’s where the original X2000, or X2k, was built and I have been on that train from Gothenburg to Stockholm, about a 3 hour ride. It’s fantastic!! The original tilting train!!

Yeah but just remember the rest of the trains in the US are really slow on the other mainlines but in the UK trains can still go 60+mph on those mainlines.
150 mph (240km/h) is pretty fast. The average speed of the Shanghai-Beijing High-speed Railway in China is about 175mph(280km/h). The maximum speed of the train is 218mph(350km/h).
The Acela's are not at 150mph through Manfield. They run at exactly 145mph in both directions through Mansfield. Trains out of the Sharon Curve are still speeding up..... Trains heading toward it are coasting......
@@odurandina That is not correct. Going east i am always going 150 through Mansfield and not even touching the brake until i'm at the old Merckens Chocolate building. Going west on dry rail 147-148 is the norm through Mansfield.
@@ce1834 No, it's not. I run them daily. In a 228 mile run i assure you my average speed is NOT 75 MPH. This whole "Average speed" nonsense stems from people who look at the mileage and then the time it takes to get from point A to point B but totally ignore stations stop times and padding built into the schedule to deal with traffic.
Speaking of what we actually see in the video, only the third train(maybe the second one also) was 150 mph. Most of them in the video were going much slower.
"Train approaching. Please remain behind yellow line." For something like this, don't say "please." It's almost like saying that request is optional. The announcement should say "You must remain behind yellow line, unless you want your body parts picked up from the tracks and placed in a sack." That yellow line is awfully narrow, for something passing you at 150 mph.
I agree. In germany maximum speed on platforms is 200 km/h (124 mph) and the lines are much wider. And on platforms where trains pass faster there are barriers along the line. Fastest track on a platform is 230 km/h (143 mph). Something like shown in that video would be unimaginable.
@@WKPExpressMovies Agree again! That all too narrow yellow strip at the edge of the platform I've seen all over a place. It must be one company that makes it, with them thinking "one size fits all." I think the problem in the U.S. are companies, transportation agencies, governments, etc., are too concerned about their customer service image, so it's all "please" and "thank you." For a train track, forget about the "please" and "thank you." Just say, "If you stand too close, you'll die an agonizing death." That will get people's attention.
Just think, these trainsets started operation in the year 2000. Now, in 2021 they will start to be retired for the new Acela replacing it. These trains have done their job although the switches between the cars have been a trouble spot over the years that need a lot of maintenance to keep the trains running. Hopefully the new trains will eliminate that maintenance concern.
Semi-high speed unfortunately. The train has so mucy potential, it can run faster, but due to the limitations of the tracks, it can only run at high speed in only sections.
ruzzell907 it’s still high speed because it reaches the high speed category, however overall it’s average speed is not a representation of what it could be doing
