As a Zoroastrian/Parsi who emigrated to Canada 10 years ago, I am grateful for you both gentlemen to take me down the nostalgic road of Rustom Chawl, Jamshed Baugh, Parsi Colony, KPI, Pakistan Chowk ke bun kebab, nihaari and everything.
To quote Elif Shafak, city's are built on spiritual columns. As Faizan mentioned how musicians went back to their day jobs, sad to say that almost any Parsi who could leave, has left. Here's to hoping that the spiritual columns of our great city stay, and inshallah get stronger.
Thank you Junaid bhai, Osama and team. Keep up the great work. You guys 🤘🏼
My wish is to see Parsi community grow in Pakistan, Iam fortunate to say that we have Parsis in Pakistan
@@harismansoor5733 I agree, it felt so sad that our leaders did nothing to safe guard these minorities in this city. I wish every minority group may prosper in this city.

I was shocked to hear ali azmat on a podcast, such an intellectual person.
This would be such an underrated video but wow this guy has the best podcasts in Asia. Kudos Junaid!
Faizan Haqqee's voice is heavenly
"aap ki memory jab woh ho na rock star wali then its hard to place the guy in a urdu play" BIG RELATE SIR! . Wish the likes of Fawad Khan and co. had done more music.
Faizan sahab, this is the one and only podcast of more than 3 hours I have watched ever. That's how interesting you are.
Dear Junaid Bhai, I can voluntarily work extra hours and donate for this documentary. As an overseas Pakistani, I feel what you are saying. Lets make that happen and please start a gofundme. Best of luck to you and Faizan sb. What a rich podcast.

One of the best podcast I ever saw, don't even skip a 10 seconds video, full of curiosity, excitement, secrets and information, love it . Nd really looking forward for the documentary made by Faizan haqq
This is by far the best podcast I have heard
Faizaan is utterly talented and a learned person, with a mix of history, music, entertainment, and content creation
It clearly shows the knowledge level he retains and I wish is able to pass it on by making the documentary he wants to create!
If he is reading, Faizan, do share your wisdom more often as there aren't many like out there...
Life k 3 ghanty 16 minutes kisi bhtt hi behtareen kam main lagadiye jis ka kbhi pashtawa nhi hoga thankyou Junaid bhai for this wonderful podcast and huge fan of faizan bhai from Indus music onwards loved and still love his voix ♥️♥️
Persian part reminded me of my Nana, he topped in MA Persian from Punjab University when it was still undivided..got job with government and Persian came in handy as old registered documents of Shahajahanabad used to be in Persian back then. Interestingly he learnt Hindi only after migrating to Delhi for work else his native Himachali, Farsi and English worked well for him till before independence. Thanks to him my mother can read Nastaliq in the time when linguistics are either losing their value or are being stigmatised in the name of religion.
Faizan did an excellent video on Parsi cars. This podcast was wonderful. We should have a trio podcast with Deepak Perwani, Faizan, and Junaid.
Certainly! When I'm working in Australia, I prefer the richness of podcasts over music. Recently, I indulged in a captivating 3-hour and 16-minute podcast on history and archaeology-it was truly extraordinary and there are more people like me who enjoys it as well. My passion for history and archaeology extends to my visits to historic places, where I immerse myself in imagination, deeply appreciating the intricate architecture that surrounds me.
I always liked Faizan. I met him in 2005 at a concert at Maritime museum in Karachi. All the top rocks bands were playing I was 16 at the time. We somehow made it back stage. Homie was there surrounded with ladies lol. I went to up to him and shook his hand. Super nice dude!
Faizan what a gem. Seeing him since childhood never knew he had so much
Faizan was always nice .. whenever I saw him and met him .. he met with humility and kind words.
Sach main is banday ko dakh k poori life style change kernay ka dil kerta seriously inspirational MashaaAllah, class hai ye , old classic , these days our generations is not blessed with these kinda guys.
This podcast dethroned jinn stories from #1,So addicting. Love from 🇮🇳 ❤
This guy is a real talkative. Have some great memories and this is proper podcast to watch, I kid you not.
Took me longer than the duration of this amazing podcast cos I'm running a photography studio and busy even on Sundays. But I'm glad I got to watch the whole podcast. You should invite Faizan more often. He's a great source of inspiration. I relished every minute of this podcast, seriously. I'd love to be part of that documentary, and if I'm able to find some financiers, I'd let you know cos I know some people in the right places too, having worked in media for more than 19 years now.
today was one of the best I heard tht podcast faizan n u took me in between my teen age young age when I started my first ever job after leaving my father transport work used to see mcc last I saw was mani was VJ I dont know wht jack he used 😅 to be VJ. today was listening podcast went to atm paid bills at post office then walked to mall then walked to home not catching bus in lovely cloudy weather then after zuhar salah I walked to bus stop for afternoon shift n deep in my past thoughts love it ❤
2:57:00 I am listening to this podcast while travelling through Italy and it is so fascinating how Faizan makes references to the Renaissance period.
I just had a walking tour of Florence where the guide explained what Faizan is referring to.
We really need to bring these voices in front and have more knowledgeable discussions of the world.
Wow! What an immaculate podcast, including the host, and the guest.
Such an insightful information.
Thank You Junaid Bhai for bringing such an incredible, conversant, polyhistoric guy Mr. Faizan Haqqee.
Why did the podcast end??? I didn't even realise that 3 hrs 15 mins went by just like that. The conversation was so interesting and with every passing minute there was something new to learn about our history. Two great personalities in one frame!
Thank you Junaid Akram ...your podcast bring forward great personalities of Pakistan from diverse fields.
This podcast introduced new vibrant Pakistanis to me otherwise hidden from the public eye.
Faizan I have known as a voice over man, Vj and actor too since the days of indus tv.
But never had known him completely.

It is an another level of enjoyment and a soothing relief just to hear the voice of the legend Sir Faizan Haqqee for 3 hours nonstop😊
I never knew him before , he is awesome man. Glad to see people like him as part of our community. I learned a lot from him. Thanks junaid Bhai you give us one more kick to live life here.
Come on man its been 3 hours and i did'nt press forward a single time such an amazing coversation, being a 90s kid its was so nostalgic you just bring me back to my childhood, the information, the memories i cant explain in words, in short its superb and one of the best podcast l. Love you both wish you best of luck for your fund raising.❤
dear Junaid,
I recently had the distinct pleasure of watching your podcast with Faizan Haqqee, and it must be said that it was a veritable treat for me. As someone who spent the first half of my life in Karachi before leaving the city, which was in a state of plunder and social decay due to ethnic and sectarian strife, in 1988 to join the army while my parents migrated abroad, listening to you and Faizan discuss Karachi was a nostalgic experience for me.
I was later posted to Karachi four years before my retirement and stayed there for almost twelve years, but it was not the same Karachi that I knew and loved. The city had become unclean, and its people had changed. It appeared to be divided into three to four parts based on economic, ethnic, and business lines, and people had become more self-centred. Having said all that, I still miss the golden times I spent in the city. The music scene, the people, the food, the communities, and the places - all of it holds a special place in my heart. It was a joy to hear you and Faizan reminisce about the city and its vibrant culture.
When I lived near the Hockey stadium, one of my greatest pleasures was riding my bicycle early Sunday morning in the old Saddar and Clifton area, which made me appreciate and enjoy the city's stunning architecture. Listening to your podcast made me wish that my children could imagine what Karachi was like during my time there. It was a city brimming with life, colour, and energy, and hearing you and Faizan talk about it made me feel like I was transported back to those times.
I wish to thank you for creating such an engaging and enjoyable podcast. I look forward to watching more of your episodes in the future.
Thank you so much for sharing your childhood image of the city and for taking the time to hear us out. Lots of love
What a gem! We should protect Haqqee! Love his wisdom and story telling.
ITS MY IDEA I AM DISCUSSING WITH MY friends. we should make video to educate people about how simple plumber work , how to open bank account . when you buying or renting house what must you do . how to be cautious. each and every process which is essential parts of our life. Good idea i have concept and Direction mind . might be if i could participate any thing.
My cousins were huge fan of Pakistani music, i got interested into PK music because of them, Glad I have witnessed some of the era you guys are discussing, gold content!
Virgin @ Tariq Road was our go to store back in the day. Shankar was the guy who ran it at that time and they used to produce CD recorded tapes which was completely illegal of course but that was our only way to get our hands on the music we wanted. There was also a label called CISUM that produced tapes legally and sold through their store in Bahadurabad. Scanners was another store that produced CD recorded tapes also located on Tariq Road.
And there was Offbeat, Graffiti, Xenon and Acoustics!! Love the audio cassette era
The most authentic, intellectual and creative podcast. Love to see both genuine guys
Although it took me more than 2 days to get through the whole podcast, I can listen to this conversation go on for some more time.
Such a comprehensive & vividly interesting conversation which has opened my mind to a lot.
Keep doing great things, Junaid bhai & Faizan bhai.
1:28:23 a lot of texts existed in our subcontinent too , e.g. surya-siddhanta, a lot many were lost in Nalanda’s and Takshashila destruction. No political commentary, just adding to the discussion.
Never watch green snakes. They take bhik from UA-cam and sponsor terror
Definitely the best and most informative podcast on this channel. Haque is a mood, would love that documentary!
Waiting for the documentary whenever I gets ready. What a wonderful idea, I hope Mr.Faizan gets the fundings. 😊
I am stunned by watching this. Great man I love this man's voice and knowledge. What a great personality ❤
Sundials are quite popular in India. The Konark temple is basically a chariot with wheels. The wheels act as a sundial.
Heard it from 0 till 3:16:30 !! Yes Faizan Haqqee!! pora suna hai bhai :D wo bhi during my daily drive to office and finished in 3 days. I have never taken interest in history and it always sounded very boring to me. Thanks to this Podcast! I am now interested in knowing our history atleast!! And that word "IMLAH" i think I heard this after 20 years even while living in Karachi
Amazing podcast 👍
Not a single dull moment, the whole saga was encapsulated so effortlessly and phenomenally...
Totally agree 👍
Watched the complete video it was one of the best podcasts on this channel and Faizan is a nice story teller.
Probably the first podcast I've watched from start till the end. Brother keep up the good work
Faizans historical narrative of indus valley civilization should be shown in video format..His narrative is more interesting than many teachers i had studied...
This has to be the best podcast by Junaid. What a discussion from music to culture, travelling, history, civilization etc.
@42:27 I can relate to him 100%. I do the same thing. Glad there are other people around like me.
Fantastic..interview.. perfect question perfect answers..
Dear Junaidbhai, greetings from Mumbai. It was an interesting conversation, which saw in fast fwd 1.25x speed and also skipping few sections.
What caught my attention was about the History / proposed documentary section wherein the guest was narrating the sequence of events of Pakistan....Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism/ Ranjit Singh and arrival Qasim . I am not sure why the guest or yourself conveniently forgot to mention Hinduism prevailing in this part of Asia...right from Afghanistan to east of present day India.
Putting forward few relevant chronological events :
-Indus valley end 1900 BC
-Gandhara Hindu Kingdom 800 BC
-Birth of Buddha 564 BC
-Birth of Mahavira (Jainism) 540 BC
-Arrival of Qasim 711 AD
-Sikhism / Guru nanak 1550 AD
-Ranjit Singh 1800 AD
Hinduism or Sanatam Dharma ( Vedic way of life) existed in Afghanistan to East of India in early period much before Buddhism or Jainism or Qasim or Sikhism arrived here. Present day Pakistan was having majority Hindu population which got slowly converted into Buddhism, Jainism , later into Muslims, Sikhs . This critical part of History is ignored even by yourself and guest , who call themselves liberal Pakistani Muslims. Documentary will be incomplete without covering Hinduism/ vedic times in this sub-continent.
Running away from facts of the past , will never help anyone to know oneself in present times. Only brave can face the bitter truth.
Noone could deny or forget about Hinduism. This was a hurried chat about the documentary, which charts the beginnings of the great religions, the Rig Veda, the civilisation of the Ganges, the Kushans, Mahabharata, Chalukyas, Cholas, Guptas...
@@faizanhaqqee2665 Thanks for the clarification , appreciate what u mentioned.
wishing you the best in getting financing and kick starting this project . Looking forward to the documentary. May be "Discovery of India" or Bharat Ek Khoj...book written by Pandit Nehru cud be one of your many input material. its just a recommendation, you are always free to ignore 🙂. regards
@@SanjayChauhanMumbai I appreciate that a lot mate! Thank you for the recommendation. I will certainly look it up. As will my Indian researcher!

One of the most informative, nostalgic and fun podcast. We definitely need another one with Faizan.
Haven't skipped a single second of this podcast. Amazing stuff

One of the best podcasts you have done. Its interesting Faizan has never done an interview before despite being part of the Pakistani music scene. Was hoping he would talk more about Indus Music and MTV Pakistan, the famous trio that he became part of with Anoushay and Dino.

This Combo . the knowledge power house with humbleness ..I loved it
I gave my Urdu O Level paper in 2003. So I heard the word Imlah after 20 years cause of this video.
This was my best podcast experience.. didn't realize how quickly time passed I was initially scared with the length of the video but it went so smoothly and one could connect him herself with every thing they were discussing. Faizan even voice overed our corporate video (International steels ltd) the video we play all over the world in exhibition and trade shows and I am really impressed with his knowledge and story telling style.. Another great show By Ganjiswag
I really enjoyed the program specially discussion of Faizan Haqee , I learnt lot from this discussion .. this pod my day , since I start watching this program I couldn’t left for a second ..
Great content Junaid! Faizan is an old friend and schoolmate and it's great seeing him bring back all these great memories. One correction about nuclear explosions though - it's the most destructive force in the universe and it would undoubtedly obliterate any structures in its path.
its Premiering! and I'm so freaking hooked on it. I'm 90s kid and this nostalgia is blowing my mind. Couldn't have asked for a better Sunday! Thanks Junaid! ❤

Very first program I thoroughly enjoyed ❤ Faizan has such good knowledge of history 👌
I agree with you on people just reading articles and not the whole books. I've been reading at least 4 books in a week for the past eight years. I just took a break from this habit in the time I was married, cos before that I was reading at least one book a week for as long as I remember.
Took me 3 days to complete this podcast :D

The translations were done by Persians not Arabs, the translations were done into arabic so the Europeans assumed these were Arab scholars. Just how Persians introduced Europeans to Hindi numerals but since the books were in Arabic Europeans assumed these were Arabic numerals.
And by the Turks
@@faizanhaqqee2665 the"Islamic Golden age" lasted from 9-12th century (era of translation from Latin/Greek/Sanskrit and bringing the knowledge of the world to Arabic, an islamic lingua franca), and siege of Constantinople occurred in 15th century.
The nomads of Mongolia didn't yet came to be known as "Turk", in-fact early mongols (turks) were the ones who burned and drowned much of those translation in the seige of Baghdad, Ottoman Turks did eventually bring to the front works such as that of Ibn Khaldun (an arab) to the rest of the Muslim world and Europe, while the arabs themselves never gave Ibn Khladuns work much consideration for centuries. (Tyrants much?)
The Arabic dictionary was compiled by Persians(World first), as well as the translation of Quran into farsi, the first time the complete Quran was ever translated, there were also 2 schools of Arabic grammar at the times which I forget the name of, both were in Persia. Translation work in the Golden age also took place in North Africa when Afro-judaen Jewish scholars used the newly compiled Arabic dictionary alongside Afro-Arab muslims scholars to use as a basis for the Hebrew dictionary.
"A social History of Education in the Muslim world - by Amjad M Hussain" good book on the topic.
3 hour and 15 mint whole story. Both bring back Karachi. A singular, unified city for everyone
Salam Junaid and Faizan, I can feel your pain (درد) for Urdu. It just kills me when I hear many of our new actors speaking wrong Urdu, especially the تلفّظ۔
It's a really fascinating podcast. I do not really use to see podcasts and even this podcast was lengthy which took me three different sittings to complete but let me admit that it is really fascinating.
What a brilliant spectral podcast 💯♥
