What is Mahakumbh?
The Mahakumbh is India’s largest religious fair, organized once every 12 years. Rooted in Hindu mythology and astronomy, it is hosted at sacred locations based on specific planetary alignments. Millions of devotees, saints, and spiritual practitioners from various traditions participate, making it a significant spiritual event.
Significance of Ritual Bathing
1. General Bathing:
Taking a bath in the holy rivers during Mahakumbh is believed to bring blessings and spiritual upliftment.
2. Royal Bathing (Shahi Snan):
On special days, ritual bathing holds greater significance. Known as “Shahi Snan,” it involves grand processions of saints from various spiritual organizations (Akhadas).

• Makar Sankranti: January 14, 2025
• Mauni Amavasya: January 29, 2025

How to Reach Prayagraj
By Air
Prayagraj has direct flight connectivity with major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. Flight details:
• Delhi to Prayagraj: 1:15 PM - 2:40 PM
• Mumbai to Prayagraj: 10:45 AM - 12:55 PM
• Bengaluru to Prayagraj: 6:25 AM - 9:15 AM
By Rail
Prayagraj district has nine railway stations, with hundreds of trains arriving daily. Major stations include:
• Prayagraj Junction (9 km from Sangam)
• Chheoki Junction (15 km from Sangam)
• Naini Junction (12 km from Sangam)

3. Dharamshalas:
Affordable religious lodges are available for pilgrims at ₹500-₹2,000 per night.
4. Homestays:
Limited homestays are available, priced at ₹1,000-₹4,000 per night.
Tips for Visiting Mahakumbh
1. Carry Necessary Documents:
• ID proofs like Aadhaar Card and travel tickets.

• Visit digital lost-and-found centers or call 1920 for help.
4. Medical Precautions:
