Here in the UK our postman is always the same 🙂 we had postman John for a decade at our house and when he retired he was replaced by another postman called John

It was oggy oggy oggy oi oi oi. Oggy was the Devon/ Cornish name for a pasty and the street sellers used to shout it. The Aussies basically stole the saying from us and have never been able to come up with anything different. Whereas we can make up a football chant on the spot to the tune of some well known bit of music and by half time have 3 verses and a chorus figured out and the whole stadium singing it.

lol That's true. I wonder if it's unique in the world.

I live in the US now and front doors don't even have letterboxes because the mail is left in a box on the street. I haven't talked to a postperson for about 18 years. I have seen them driving around in their vans though, which are right-hand-drive, so they don't have to get out of them to deliver stuff.
In this episode I recommend Hal's Mr. Blobby story.

We usually have the same postman, I was walking my dog in the park and I had a recorded delivery and the post man knew I`d be in park so brought it to me .

What an idyll you must inhabit. I'm guessing that occurred in a largely rural setting?

@@renejean2523 About as far away from rural as you can get , just off a main road full of take-aways, barbers and mini marts, were English is becoming a dead language ! the boarded up city centre is 0.2 miles away, and the award winning Victorian park down my street is full of gangs of migrants spitting sun flower seeds everywhere but mustn't grumble lol

@@marcushull12 - So your "idyll" is a fantasy world decades ago when there were no run-down areas full of non-immigrants? And at least the sunflower seeds are biodegradable. The graffiti and vandalism by white gangs isn't.
At least you have a nice postman.

😂 I live in Australia and I see our postman most days too and it is the same guy. Our postmen drive vans or motorbikes here due to the amount of distance they need to cover so often they'll quickly hop out or not get off their bike and put the mail in the letter box (which is beside the road not part of the house) then drive off straight away, so that's why most people wouldn't see them often here. For our semi rural home we get a lot of packages and our postman brings them to our door for security and convenience as it's a bit of a uphill walk to the letterboxes for the houses here, he's very friendly.

So "aussie aussie aussie" originated from "oggie oggie oggie". Oggie chant was used in rugby and football in ireland in 1960s and 70s. Its origin is welsh. Where oggy was a pasty and oi was a response to it to the street sellers

I'd like to see the guys react to the team task where they had to write a song about Rosalind. I know Michael has probably seen it already, but it would still be fun. I think there are still ongoing copyright issues, unfortunately.

Yes, the Aussie Aussie Aussie chant derives from Cornwall miners. Much like Australians thinking they invented rhyming slang, it's just cultural appropriation and I won't stand for it!!! 😉

I find it weird that the game most associated (association 😉) with using your foot to kick a ball is the one that gets renamed by other countries as soccer. There's literally no game more about using your foot to kick a ball than Football/Soccer. Like, with the exception of headers, it's virtually the entire point of the sport.
