I adore these mashups, and while I'm not expecting FloydLorenz to give me the secrets, I am curious how they manage to get all these isolated audio tracks (like ... some bits include JUST the piano part or JUST the violin part) and while they could be composing it themselves, it sounds way too close so I just assume there's some production trick being used. IDK. I am curious tho!
imo you did a fantastic job with a fairly weak set of songs overall, using their best qualities together. Great work! There's not a lot of summer 2023 songs I'd personally consider for an anisong playlist, sadly. The entire season was weak in terms of overall quality. I didn't watch a ton of shows. Genuine rankings: 1. Bang Dream It's My Go!!!! - no I'm not kidding this really is the best nonsequel of the summer season. I'm not qualified to speak on most sequels because I ain't in on Jujutsu Kaisen or the Bungos 2. Undead Murder Farce 3. Fate/strange fake: Whispers of Dawn - LET'S FUCKING GO, can't wait for the series 4. Mushoku Tensei II - a little underwhelming, but it's still MT and the initial arc and the last few episodes were rather good. imo the next cour's going to be so much better, and the studio deliberately didn't put as much effort into this section as they could have for pragmatic reasons 5. Level One Demon Lord and One Room Hero - surprisingly funny, cute comedy fantasy with some storytelling beats I'd always wanted to see a show do, about as good of a 'what happens to the hero's party after they win?' show as you could ask for short of, well, the most anticipated show of Fall 2023 which will blow everything else out of the water 6. My Happy Marriage - mid writing hard carried by some of the best production values of the season, the final episode brought it up a full point for me 7. Zom 100 - it'd be higher but I kind of have to punish it for the delays and for the studio's poor scheduling and planning leading to the current disaster. Plus while it's supremely good junk food, it's not as deep as the first episode maybe wants you to think it is. 8. Reign of the Seven Spellblades - I want this to be better than it is, but it's consistently enjoyable and by JC Staff standards, a great production, mostly 9. Helck - I'm just going to read the manga to be honest, it doesn't seem to be getting the adaptation it deserves 10. Heretical Last Boss - oh my god this was the generic power fantasy isekai but for otome villainess reincarnation stories. The writing is so generic and contrived, everything interesting about the premise is dropped early, and there's no real tension - MC is always going to fix everything, and everyone is going to say how amazing she is and how they'd literally die for her sake, while she thinks BUT I MIGHT STILL GO EVIL IN THE FUTURE even though she's already so fundamentally altered the timeline so that doesn't seem to be a concern. shows I missed that I will or might check out later Tonikawa mini-series Saint Cecilia Genjitsu no Yohane Masterful Cat Dark Gathering Temple Devil is a Part-Timer s3, siiiiiiiiiigh idk, any of the sequels if I end up seeing the prior season(s) first.
