The black Tonka I would say It is spray painted. I’m in my sixty’s and I also raised 3 sons and I’ve never seen a black one. When you are trying to remove a poster/picture from a tube, a little trick is to take 2 or 3 fingers put them in the tube and open your fingers so that you are touching whatever in there and turn the tube clock wise,,What your trying to do is tighten up the picure just enough to slide it out !!!!
