there's a special place in hell for whoever decided this should be a buzzworthy exclusive.
I love how it looks in a static A stance, and bought it because it does look that good.
But my God, once you start handling it, all positive vibes go out the window
I own this figure and he handles like a dream. His pose ability is amazing. If the shoulders are what kills it for you don't let them. If you pose him right the shoulders don't hinder anything.
@braydenpage1808 put it this way, I also own the Deluxe Titans Return Kup from 2017. That poses significantly better than SS 102

There's a Baiwei one of this I just got and it fixes the leg thing (but not the shoulders tho I don't mind it) and it comes with a BUNCH of accessories Compared to this

I think the issue people have with the smoke stacks is that they don't rotate, meaning they don't face the right way in robot mode. I could be wrong, but that's the only thing I can think of.
I wish he wasn't so hard to get right now, I'd absolutely love to have him.

They are kits for a pair of rotational smoke stack. But the fact that hasbro cut a budgets over that rotational smoke stack kinda bothers me a bit…
Fun fact: The smoke stacks can move out of the way to accommodate for the weird arm poseabilty. It doesn't serve any purpose in transformation so it's definitely an articulation thing

I will always prefer the Studio Series 38 BB Optimus Prime, I got the 35th anniversary version that came with the G1 Optimus Prime toy. But I do admit, how cool this SS Rise of the Beast Optimus Prime figure is.

I know it's sacrilegious, but imagine if he had a Leader Class Budget to design him. At that rate there'd be so much opportunity to make all those fixes (Triggerhappy Shoulders aside since it seems that just is the preference of that one Hasbro toy designer as of late I swear)
Also as a US Collector, I can NEVER find him at any kind of Target store
Considering he's a store exclusive they might as well have given him a higher budget and sold him at a custom price between Leader and Voyager like some of the Generations Selects and Shattered Glass figures they release.
Honestly, a lot of characters in SS would do better to have a budget class higher even at a smaller scale. RotB Arcee could've been great if she had a deluxe scale budget and was screen accurate. SS Nightbird looks like they had to skimp on her wings to maintain deluxe price.
@@shinzero0271 Oh yeah, definitely. I know that it's a controversial topic, but I absolutely am fine with characters smaller than the figures of that scale if they're made to be honestly the best version they can be.

It says something about my eyesight that, with your thumbnail's caption positioned so close to Prime's forearm, and in a very similar colour, I read it as "Peak OF mediocre", and went in expecting a very different experience. Still not convinced, mind you.
one thing I wanna point out is that his leg tabs leave a major stress mark. And I know why.
There’s a weird raised lip on the actual tab for friction, and the port doesn’t have the indent to support that lip. So it ends up stretching the ports plastic.
It heals itself when you leave it untabbed and alone, but it’s something to look out for.
Interesting, I've never had that problem with my figure 🤔
@@braydenpage1808 me and around 5 others have experienced it. It’s noticeable if you look at the tabs overhead in vehicle mode

I have the stress marks too, I have the most defects : mushroom peg on the waist keeps popping off, loose asf gas tanks, ALOT of paint chipping or not painted fully pieces on the silver parts of the chest, stressmark, loose ab crouch:(
@@JRK_Bricks I wonder why I have almost none of those issues that many seem to have? My mushroom peg is perfectly normal, I haven't noticed any stress marks, and I have a little paint mishap on the chest but I always thought that was a little bit of battle damage.
As someone who poses everything in robot mode this is about as perfect as it gets, and i was already pretty impressed with the original Bee Voyager release. Truck mode though not as clean still a very mean and intimidating look for Optimus and I love it. I used to love the HFTD one, and while it's probably the best Bayverse iteration of a movie voyager it's no longer my favorite Voyager Optimus. Really looking forward to a main line release of this one in Canada.
It’s frustrating how almost perfect this thing is.
Ab crunch, feels amazing. Kick, amazing range. The sculpt, looks amazing.
Then the shoulder articulation just sinks it so hard in my opinion, definitely need those new ones from DNA.
It’s the same shoulder articulation as ss bayvers ratchet but worse
the ab crunch takes some of the chest of and the mainline did the ab crunch better

This Optimus Prime figure is what Studio Series TLK Hot Rod to Deluxe classes for the Voyagers. They got more stuff than the others. This guy got a freaking abdomen crunch which other characters in his class doesn't. Same goes to Hot Rod where he has ankle rockers while other deluxe class figures only gets up amd down pivots rather than side to side. At this point, Hasbro is just being stingy. And the reasoning is ✨B U D G E T✨
SS100 Bee has side to side ankles but not front to back :/

Man the shoulders. They’re not the worst but…. Ugh. DNA thankfully fixed it
Bumblebee prime to me looks better in both modes. They are not the same bot from movie to movie though. I have both of these and love them. My ss38 is more fiddly and not as well put together than this figure. Without weapons ss38 is heavier by more than a half ounce. Ss38 ion blaster looks good in this guys hands too. Can’t go wrong with either
Transformation seems a bit less complex than the Bumblebee movie version which is good. The robot mode I think is pretty much spot on but there are a couple of ropey articulation points and of course the leg kibble on vehicle mode. Also, love the blade but hate the gun. Overall, I love it. Issues aside it's great fun to mess around with.
A couple reasons why I'm skipping this figure:
-Most of the reasons are because its not based on the movie design. Its based on earlier concept similar to the one in the deleted scene "Are You Ready". Uses the Bumblebee movie head. Shoulder panels on wrong side of smoke stacks. Missing panels under windshields.
-Vehicle mode is horrible. legs are horrible and the front cab is way too slim. The wheels should not be sticking out like a hot wheels toy.
-Shoulder joints are inexcusable. Especially when this started as a retool of SS38 with the most perfect shoulder joints.
-Target/Pulse exclusive.
-Horrible excuse of a blaster.
Facts the rise of the beast studio series figures are objectively the worst just off the inaccuracies alone
I absolutely adore this figure, I've transformed it agood couple of times now and I can not get tired of it. The articulation is absolutely stellar, and the accuracy is pretty much spot on. Yes the back of the truck mode doesn't look great, but that's what the DNA upgrade kit is for. I use ShowZ to preorder this kit and there's a method where you can use ShowZ points that you built up to purchase instead of using real money
i still think ss38 prime is better, at least for me. i dont like the more athletic proportions on this design, i really value the chunk and visual weight of the bumblebee movie design. one thing i think this version has over 38 though is colours, he’s a lot brighter and i like that, with the exception of the grey that just… really needed to be more silver, it’s giving games workshop grey to me.
I'm with you on absolutely everything except the colors. I like the more muted colors of SS38! But that's pretty much it. The clunk I find very charming, and as you said, he looks like he'd hit HARD. My only issue with 38 is the forearm kibble. That's the only clunk I'm not a fan of, though idk how they could have worked around it. But anyhow I'll probably get this one at some point, but I'd rather go for the newer wave of SS100 as of rn, and wait for the mainline release (or Premium Finish >>>)
What's even better is that SS38 resembles the on-screen model of ROTB Optimus more than SS102. The blockier, albeit wider proportions are a dead ringer, especially the shins, kneepads and feet.

I disagree with the Triggerhappy shoulders looking "natural", it's really not. It looks ridiculous.
The hell with this figure. It's great but to hard to find. Resellers suck and target is the worst

This thing was so damn hard to get a hold of, but i managed and it felt incredible. I LOVE this toy, partially because i fought for it, but also because it look so god damn good
Honestly, if the figure wasn’t so hard to find, it would be pretty great. It improves some things SS38 did, it did some things that SS38 did better, but all I’m all it’s really well done. Just again, i wish it wasn’t so stupidly rare in a lot of places.

Not that well they held back what would have been a easy masterpiece for the voyager range, what they did with the leg transformation is criminal especially now that we have a KO that fixes this by restoring the cues from SS38 and makes it clear this was how it was originally designed before Hasbro Hasbroed all over it.
Im sorry, but i am not okay with that truck mode. Just feels like a lazy compromise to reuse the transformation from BB prime with less budget. I would've honesly preferred a more minor retool if that wouldve gotten us something as clean as that.
The shoulders used to make posing hard, but I found out you can rotate the shoulder assembly where it's mounted, which makes them look more natural, and the smokestacks aren't in his face so much.
Mediocre. I won't even open mine. Hate the alt mode. The best in that scale is still Premium Finish SS-38. Other than that, get the MP.

I just got the Bumblebee movie one, and I think that is much better. The back of the truck on this Rise of the Beasts one is just not acceptable. I just don't know how people are OK with this figure which is similar to the Bumblebee design from 4 years ago. Although this one is slightly better in robot mode, it is WAY worse in vehicle mode.

I agree with the whole "upgrade" kit situation, I am fine with kits that add on to a figure like include accessories the original was missing, but we shouldn't need kits to fix things that should never have needed fixing in the first place let alone cost more than the original figure. I'd rather stick to trying fanmoding.

ngl. the legs on the original were better. all it needed were better feet. but the transformation for the legs on 38 was fire. if they needed to retool 38 it should have stayed above the waist.

It is a very good figure, its only bad points are the articulation of the shoulders and the truck mode, taking into account the price

I saw a "leaked" photo of a 2pack of Prime and Scourge as a regular SS release and not a Buzzworthy release. It may be fake, but considering how many leaks these days are real, I've got hope.
I still think SS DOTM prime is better than this based on everything. Robot accuracy. Truck accuracy. And posing. Transformation sucks but so does SS102. I don’t like him
It’s definitely better then this it’s more movie accurate and it has better proportions than this figure and the upgrade kit actually fixes the main problem with ss-44 vs the upgrade kit coming out for this guy

Got the KO in my hands and assuming you’re talking about the bmb model, be prepared for some of the joints to feel uncomfortably tight because my copy had some tight joints out the box.

I got this figure recently and I love it, I love the mainline as well but if I were to pick one, I’d say Studio Series does some things just a little bit better, I don’t really care about Triggerhappy shoulders and I don’t display my figures in vehicle mode, so I’m ok with them making sacrifices to make the robot look as good as it does
I actually hate this toy. I wish they took the transformation of the mainline and his lack of axe and weird legs for the vehicle. I much prefer the mashed the best of both them and it would be great. Mainline I think I’ll just like better
I have said before ROTB Prime is a half baked idea. Robot mode great, Vehicle mode is like the Homer meme where he looks great from the front, from the back its a mess.
As much as I want to have the figure, I don't want a figure that's half baked. I understand sacrifices have to be made in order to achieve the look, but they just downgraded the legs so bad. Even the upgrade kit doesn't help because from the pictures, it basically gave him an underwear for the trailer hitch. And if the calves weren't folded up, the back looks too long than the front.
Studio Series ROTB Prime looks like Prime went into gerwalk mode and then did a legs only yoga move.
I was playing around with him last night and left the gun on the table… my mom has poor eyesight and thought it was trash and yeeted it directly at the fireplace

DNA did add new shoulders to the list of upgrades to better justify the price. But with how high it is I can see why you passed. And that is NOT including shipping.
I don't have a huge collection, most of it being Legacy. I can say with certainty that this is the best voyager I own

It would be cool to see a SS concept figure, or a third party figure of bumblebee movie Optimus prime based on the cybertronian mode. But instead of transforming into a freightliner truck he transforms into a cybertronian truck. Plus it’ll allow the designers to really focus on the robot mode

Just got the KO. Its an average figure made worse by cheap plastic.
Bad leg articulation, horrible shoulders, so many clearance issues.
Horrible truck mode.
Bad accessories.
I shouldn't need tweezers to transform a figure.
The only thing thats better compared to SS38 is how slim it is.
Baiwei made this so much cheaper with while looking way better. Just doesn't have the official Autobot logo.
If only it wasn't a buzzworthy bumblebee exclusive cause personally thats annoying since most targets don't stock this stuff it would've been easier to find if it wasn't an exclusive
For me in Victoria there heaps of this ss figure in job hi fi so where I’m in there no problem to find him

Yes you finally reviewed him. I love this figure, pain the the butt to get it though. The Robot mode is what does it for me. I don't ever display my Transformers figures in vehicle mode so his unsightly kibble back there doesn't bug me too much. I definitely want the upgrade DNA kit to fix that truck bed though. But because of how expensive it is I'll probably skip it too and just keep him in Robot mode.
ss38 definitely has the better truck mode, but I think this one has the better robot mode

SS 38 is great but just doesn't look heroic enough. SS 102's bot mode simply nails it.
I'm getting Legacy Armada and Rise of the beast Optimus and I really can't wait to get both of them!!
I can see why people like this toy, but since I'm not made of money I'm fine with just my core seres one. It's satisfying enough and I actually think the transformation's better.

You can peg the skirt pieces into place on the legs in vehicle mode.
Why not check out the MHM 01 Supreme Commander and/or the Baiwei one?
Idk why but I get the feeling they’ll rerelease the bumblebee movie optimus and just use this mold and just add more red paint to it and add some more detail like the premium finish version

Here why I live none of my Targets have had it in stores when I have looked for it so I wouldn't say its everywhere. The only reason I was lucky enough to get one is because I pre ordered it.
It's a polarizing figure for me, like I love it but at the same time I hate it. Terrible vehicle mode and those damn shoulders
I'm in the UK and I gotta say, this figure is sold out everywhere, idk where you get the idea that the figure is abundant over here but it's really not.
