For whatever reason I genuinely love theses talks Beaver gives, its honest and unbiased. Beaver is also very calm about this and still keeps it light hearted. Just wanted to express my appreciation, don't mind me.
I got really panicked about it as well, but not for long. I have a feeling that this game is going to turn out fine, and you can find evidence of this in several videos on Twitch which feature voice calls with DoD's developer. I recommend you watch a few of the videos on Twitch. They are a bit biased in favor of the game, but a lot of things are cleared up.
*sees thumbnail of beaver sitting infont of the camera* Me: oh boy this must be serious Beaver: my jeans are dark blue and not black! Me: wait what....
They definitely seem like they are genuine in their desire to bring this game to life. They really need to hire folks that are much more experienced in the industry to coach them. If they make more mistakes, it will end up snowballing and crushing this project.
Actually a lot of peps on here (supporters include) agree with beaver on a lot of point. This vid was a lot more civil then the IGP vid, which caused its own problems with trolls joining the server
Is there a hard Pro-DoD community already? I would say something about “surely they watched the video and understand it’s not a hate thing, and nobody got mad at his opinion about ignoring PoT on baseless claims” but then I remember it’s the Internet we are talking about and toxicity can come from nowhere and at any time so whatever
I like beaver's video way more than IGPs. IGP was very call-out-y whereas this is a lot more neutral and honest. I really do hope the game ends up being something cool though :(
Was thinking the same thing lol also was thinking I would love to see the answer they are giving in the discord. Like hey yep beta is stalled now cause we have to answer all of you but there just banning people left and right.
Which is not true if you actually go onto the discord they have answered most of the questions that they can about the game and they arnt “banning problem left and right” when they asked questions. They were blocked when they harassed the staff and developers telling them to kill themselves, scammers, lier’s, and hoping they get thrown in jail.
@@deadislander0167 They are banned for a reason and only complain about it but never tell the whole story. But to get any whole story you have to have a dialog with both parties.
@@ornat9145 Beaver himself didn't get banned but IGP did and after the video he made. In the interview that Anth had with Jao, Jao calls IGP a jerk and wants his channel taken down (which is a very childish thing to say in my opinion)
To be honest, I have never watched a video of yours before. That being said, I have extreme respect for you after this video. THIS is how a content creator needs to react to this situation, especially after supporting a game. The fact that you admit that you did no prior research and then present both sides fairly and equally is great. You bring up a lot of good points and the video is well done. Thank you for addressing it and being honest. I'm excited to start watching your content. Cheers.
I like how they said IGP "attacked" them when all he did was supply evidence lmao. All haha funnies aside you got good points, Beaver. Devs need to realize it's not like we're attacking them, nor do we want the game to fail, we just want to know we're making a worthy investment.
Yeah and because of IDP many people told the developers to kill themselves and stuff he indirectly attacked the developers I know it wasn’t really a IGPs fault But so many people are blaming the developers and it just ticks me off
@@omegawerewolf9320 I mean all of that could've been avoided if the developer was just open and honest though right? Sorry I literally just fell into this rabit hole saw a new game about dragons and now all of this stuff. Regardless of what actually has been said by either party you have to admit to an outside view it's a little sketchy especially since the premise the dev put up first was he had amazing coding experience and that he was going to do all of this alone... which turned out to be a lie...
@@omegawerewolf9320 agree to disagree on that but you should if you haven't watch anthomnia video, someone from the dev team made a horrific threat about him pulling from it and a shit tone of other things, they're actually attacking a lot of ppl and jao himself is!
I am also very angry that jao says that IGP "attacked" him when the whole video that IGP posted had only facts. Dont get me wrong, like beaver says there is a small bit of bias involved but does that really matter? Besides, his video told everyone to stop 'witch hunting' jao and his peers and even tried to explain that he doesnt want to cause an uproar. Then again...all of my arguements here are invalid and meaningless seeing as how i have been subscribed to IGP and beaver for years now and i havent even joined jao's discord.
M Timpson IGP provides research, and the sources to all of it (leaving links, playing audio recordings, etc). So no, it's not entirely relying on another's video. Links be in them descriptions for a reason: it's to prove the validity of the gathered information. If you still doubt, then check the validity of those links for yourself
@@evankurasu3190 I understand what you're saying and I don't disagree but i stand with what I've said. Even though this video was made recently there's been things addressed in their discord and that this video doesn't cover. If someone actually wanted answers they wouldn't rely on videos that hold old or incorrect information and instead go to the source and find things that validate or invalidate the video. It's just simply unwise to watch something and then assume that everything they're saying is correct.
M Timpson I suppose that's fair. We can only hope for a good outcome to all of this... in the meantime, we aught to stop throwing money at these devs until this whole shitshow gets resolved
The problem isn’t that they aren’t original assets, that doesn’t make an asset flip. If nothing is done with the assets except use as is - such as the map being the demo map from the asset creator. Using assets as plug and play is an asset flip.

This whole Situation feels like it's straight out of a black mirror episode. The fact that everyone could make a game like that while getting literally hundreds of thousand dollars is really worrying. I mean, on the first look, it seems like this guy was simply not prepared for the success this project had on kickstarter. Which is not an excuse for this Situation, because if you start a project, especially a project for a game, one of the most impactful, biggest and popular industries on the world, you should be prepared for anything that could happen. But this unexpected success he got makes me optimistic that he's a genuinely decent guy that is just overstrained with all that. That he already contacted lawyers could simply be a sign that someone already took legal actions against him. That wouldn't suprise me since a lot of people payed A LOT of money for this game. But i don't wanna speculate to much, time will show how this is going to end. I hope good.
War is gonna break out in the survival simulator game community if one more highly popular gaming channel makes a video uncertain about whats gonna happen in Day of Dragons
Thank you so much for discussing this trough and bringing your own opinions onto the table. I think its going to also have an impact on its own and also help to open up the things that IGP tried in his own video. Day of Dragon's Discord server is a mess right now because everyone are stressed, furthermore backers are scared of the developers to ban them because of their concerns for the game itself, and Jao and his team are not really helping with their act.
So just making something clear, as someone who is also making a game, you need to have lawyers for literally every step pertaining to marketing, trademarking, registering, and so on. There is also national and international law that also needs to be looked into, which is also where an actual lawyer comes in.
Not to mention hiring people will require a lawyer to write up proper contracts... Or you end up dealing with the shit Dondi did with the Isle when one guy decided to leave and set the game back two years as he walked away with the game code.
There are so many red flags on Day of Dragons.. i have a hard time trusting they will deliver, guess we’ll have to wait on the Beta to get some clarity
The game demo was based on basicly nothing, linked up pre-fab store bought content. So either they are now doing a lot of work to make this an actual game.. or there is no game at all
@@Radji0086 I'am sort of worried but this entire thing actually makes sense. It would take about 2 weeks for Jao to hire someone people to help his project, it's also safe to assume that he was not ready for the success of the Kickstarter and also because of the people's expectations to the game itself. Lawyers actually make sense because I don't remember but something happened with Dondi and a staff member and it lead to a piss poor case so it makes sense. However I don't like the behavior of theirs but it could probably all be due to stress.
Dious Thomas I have really strong doubts.. let’s forget everything the devs said so far and take a hard look at whats going on here: 1 or 2 Guys who start a kickstarter campaign for a game that can be made in 48hrs (!) based on store bought assets. Promote it as a 2year epic dragon game project with a great future, make $500k+ by accident(?) and suddenly turn all defensive and silent. I would be surprised if we see any Beta at all
*Teach me the way of using Google search to make games* That's my dream but I feel like I'm too dumb to get coding. Y'know, biotech major but programming dunce, not a good combination in my opinion...
Its depend on the the game you want to create like 2D or 3D. Some program for coding python, cc+ and so much more for creating a game you can go in unreal engine. Some steps for creating a game 1- Idea ,some art concepts of your game, the story ( really important ),the logo. Ex: realistic, map in the desert, the story of the man and his sheep. 2- make a map in unreal engine or other program, make the models, make the menu of your game... 3- the texture, the painting, animating your model. Program: maya (not free) blender (free) zbrush( not free) substance painter ( not free). 4- coding ...
Tbh unity is pretty straight forward. The Unity website has these tutorial program like thing to show the basics. :D I suck at code and was able to do a bit.
"How do you even start something, like this?" By talking about your pants, I guess. Seriously though, I think *all* of this controversy could be avoided if they just gave us *screenshots* of the dragons they're working on. He doesn't need to make a video showing him work, just show us screenshots of the finished or partially finished dragons and/or map. Maybe even a gif of the dragon doing basic animations. I honestly don't think we're asking for much, but he makes it seem like we're asking for his first born son to be sacrificed to Cthulhu.
Well the dragons that are replacing the 3 place holders are being made by a modeler who was only just hired this month so I don't think they have alot to even share on that aspect either. It's really bad timing that this drama comes out the month he has hired his modeler. Because both him and the modeler said that his contract didn't start until some time in October (this month). They should just show what they have so far though, even if its not finished. But from a digital artist's perspective I can imagine showing a half made model could cause more issues, alot of people judge art even when it's still in sketching phase. And modeling, oof, that stuff takes a long freakin time and it might only look like a basic lizard blob at the moment. Like clay modeling, it always looks blobby and weird until they actually put the details on. But yeah they should give some photos or maybe just teaser pics of it if they can.
@@whoahanant Even a basic lizard blob will help to quell some fears and anger. They can critique it to hell and back, but at least it shows that something is happening. (I know it sucks to have your work torn apart but ya know, its something you learn to shrug off.)
While I agree that it's possible that this was just a passion project that blew out of proportion, that still doesn't explain or excuse the way Jao has been handling all of this. His behavior has been nothing short of unprofessional, unreasonable, and toxic. I've seen multiple people banned from the DoD discord for asking questions about these concerns, and they were being completely polite!
#1: There's definitely a problem if someone's more banhammer happy then the lord of grouchy devs, Dondi himself #2: That pfp you got there is the best thing I've seen all day
bans arent being thrown out like that. IGP was banned for twisting info in a way that incited utter chaos, as someone who has seen screen caps of his entire convo with Jao unblurred, and screen caps of other evidence where igp highlights info that is thrown into a completely different light in context
Yes. I probably spent $30 on the game and I didn't even know about the drama since I'm not really on Discord. I was just waiting for my early access and then this stuff comes out
Not to mention how they handle backer rewards, explain their future plans and how much they communicate with their fans, PoT is basically a role model for games in developing imo
Ryaquaza 1 Exactly! And quite honestly as someone who’s currently studying to be a game developer myself it’s just so nice to actually watch the whole process go down, it’s just such a pleasant learning experience to kind of just...Sponge it up by just studying what they do, it’s kinda like a live demo if you’re trying to learn this stuff and I love it.

I've asked a couple of UA-camrs that support this game and asked this question via comment "What are your thoughts on Day of Dragons and the issues concerning it's legitimacy?" I'm glad I didn't have to ask you. Because this seems very suspicious. And this is just how I feel but anthomia rubs me the wrong way. I cannot stand people taking advantage and getting over on others I agree IGP's video at times does seem bias but at the same time he points out very valid reasons. There are alot of contradictions from what joa has said in different videos. I will say it can be a case of inexperience dealing with people as far as being a new dev but he should be able to show proof. Sure there is a chance he is over his head but he would do better just by saying that. I'd like to see this game to succeed but from what I've seen and researched it's not looking good. I also agree what you are saying James.
Anthomia is part of the youtube algorithm problem. Even when I get myself a new device with nothing on it, I can't get him off my youtube recommendations! Dx It's clear anthomia and many other tubers shill out.
Well anth hasn't made his video on this yet and he gains nothing from backing the game either. Both Anth and Beaver blindly did the same thing. Although he has clickbaity videos he hasn't really done anything more than anyone else. If anything Anth is the only one who is left who can get an interview with Jao on this whole topic unless he also gets banned for something.
Anthomnia blindly backed the game up so he is in the same situation as Beaver. And if I'am not mistaken an old former Subnautica developer named Simon so yeah it seems that he didn't know about this thing.
@@Spinoterror31896 When I remove a video on the mobile app, it gives me the option to stop seeing content from the user. I did this with a couple of youtubers and haven't seen their videos in my feed since.
This is something I've never understood. Just why? Why don't we really see honest to goodness large scale animal-based games? Are they not profitable in the long-run or what.
@@kittyfiend Sadly, they're really not. Even fighting games struggle to maintain an audience, which is why fighting games are considered niche. That said, now picture the difficulty in making sure people will play a game to control dinosaurs or dragons. A goose messing around for the lol's, sure...but a dragon or dinosaur game, and people ask if this is serious (of course not us, but for the casuals yeah).
Hi! Beta tester here. I can say the game does have functionality and that a majority of the concerns aren't needed. As of today people with beta keys were allowed to stress test the game! It has basic mechanics but isn't perfect yet, but it certainly has more base functions then that of which people on youtubers have publicly shown (eating/drinking/ etc.) I have hopes for this game, and while yes some of IGP's concern are valid... he's taken a lot of things out of context, not to mention the game's still in alpha. It feels almost like an attack rather than someone actually concerned about the game's future... Although even that statement might hold bias just from the mistreatment by IGP during his Isle days. Also! To note a few things. People aren't getting blocked or removed for asking questions, only people who either A.) blatantly ask the same question over and over again (despite being answered) or B.) aren't actually asking questions, and instead are trying to provoke. I've seen a lot of people come in from the IGP video and get banned for blatant harassment towards community members but I've also seen just as many have civil conversations with their skepticism and concerns. They don't always end with the information being sufficient for them, granted, but from what I can tell the people legitimately asking questions aren't getting targeted/banned, or even being punished. For the 30 dragons part, they ARE NOT DLC. The game is coming with them defaultly, the only ones you had to purchase were ones that came with the kickstarter pledges (biolume, acid spitter, etc.) The talk of making DLC was more of a "If we end up needing more, we'll make dlc dragons" or something to that effect. Also the dragons/skins aren't all being released at once, they're coming out as they're finished (which Jao has stated even before this all happened) So i do truly think he'll focus more on improving the game rather than the dragons/skins themselves. I also feel like the "30 dragons" may refer to skins as well, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. Also also! Development/coding for DoD specifically only started fully about a week ago, as he has claimed in the discord, and that the "two years" was him practicing his coding. Not sure how factual it is, but it would make sense considering there are now corpses to eat in the game and such (no audio yet, though!) But I do agree whole heartedly on the fact that their responses seem more like a case of inexperience then actual malicious intent. Not to mention, (I'm pretty sure at least) Jao doesn't have a PR team to properly handle the situation. I truly believe this will work out though, because Jao seems genuinely excited to see this game come to life. I just hope people won't try to rip this apart because of present controversies.
@@DootDoot93 The issue is that people think this is going down the same path as Mesozoica with it being a complete bust and a scam. But this is due to information that people don't know like how long it takes to hire people, the need for the lawyers etc.
@@TheLumino Oh yeah. I don't know the reason behind that. But hey Jao sound very enthusiatic about the game and seemed also stressed but it is probably going to turn out fine.
This was a much needed video. It brings honest concerns to the table in a straight forward way and addresses all concerned parties. My problem with IGP was he did not show ANY process to his "evidence" and took many, MANY things out of context to suit his needs. Beaver addresses the concerns, he speaks for the community, and even admits he should have done more research. I for one and disappointed in how IGP handled it. It felt like a lot of finger pointing and underhanded scare tactics to cause unrest in a community. Whether the game succeeds or fails is on Jao, and I hope it succeeds. (I will admit I backed a large amount of money into the game.) Concerns need to be brought in an unbiased, honest manner; not with zoomed in images of just snipits of information rather than the whole section. I saw no process included in IGP's video to back his evidence. The fact remains that there are concerns, and Beaver is right that Jao needs to get a PR and an Accountant, but everything anyone says (Including Jao) needs to be taken with a grain of salt, and for those of us who backed the game we need to remember why we backed it and not let scare tactics ruin our excitement.
Day of Dragons already has a 3-D model for one of their custom dragons circulating around, now, done by Jia Hao, a rather fantastic 3-D artist. They are hiring a full orchestra to studio record a soundtrack for the game. Considering the amount of interest the game is generating, they need to make sure that they have enough money to maintain servers and staff. The base game is said to be the initial 3 dragons plus another 20-30 dragons, all at the base price of $20. Those 30 dragons being DLC is not an accurate thing. There will be additional dragons added into the game and sold as DLC to help maintain and continue developing the game. There has been quite a bit of detail provided to the community about where all of the money from the Kickstarter is being allocated. There is no PR team for the game, just a handful of devs and moderators. An early beta is going testing out the servers for stress testing and have been going well, showing some good, solid server performance. I very much agree, that if people have concerns and don't want to buy the game or join the community, that's okay. Wait and see, the game will be released in early access November 21st. The acid spitter dragon is an incentive to anyone who missed the Kickstarter and want the game. To avoid Kickstarter backers feeling left out, they are given the option of paying an extra $9.99 to get that dragon in addition to their other exclusive dragons that were detailed out in the Kickstarter. There have been a lot of people that didn't join the community until recently who have been bringing a lot of negativity and causing issues for the community. The Kickstarters who have been there since joining have all been paying attention as the developers have been very transparent with what's going on. I hope this helps enlighten anyone who might have some questions about what's going on with the project. All the best, guys and gals!

paid dlc for early access games in general is a big no no and you should expect backlash if you try something like that (look at Ark and scorched Earth for example) In any case I'm not following the situation to closely and I think they cancelled that idea?
@@Destroyerz117 So far I am uncertain whether the acid spitter dragon will be available only as preorder incentive (included with the base $20 price of the game and available to Kickstarter backers as an option for $9.99 more so they can have all the exclusives if they so desire) or whether it will just be made available as a $9.99 DLC for everyone at any time. Based on what I've heard, I'm leaning toward the former, meaning it will only be an extra charge for people who have KS backed and already own the game through that. However I am not 100% on that.

One of my degrees was in game design. I took a couple of classes on 3D animation using 3DS Max, the same program Bethesda, EA, Activism, Bioware, etc. use to create their 3D models. Each class we had to make MULTIPLE models, animate them, skin them, rig them, etc. A class is 15 weeks. So, in 4 months we had to make 2 full models (rigged, skinned, animated, etc.) and several practice models (complete models that don't need full animations or skinning). For someone who knows what they are doing and doesn't have other classes... You could easily make 30 dragons in a year. Especially with all the copy and pasting abilities in the program. Base model, make numerous copies of it, add extra to each model to make it unique, animations all can be copied over from one... Saves a lot of time. Then on top of this the programming.... For a game like this, or at least the plan of it, no one programmer can do. I mean, they could, but it would take a LOT of time. No programmer would ever want to do this on their own... They would hire help. And I had to make sound for one of my game design classes. Sure, you can find sounds online to use, but for basic things. Like animal sounds, room ambience, walking, etc. For more unique sounds, like for dragons, you can't buy that. You have to make it and edit it yourself. For those who never been in a game design class, take one if your university offers any. The college I went to had a huge gaming department and many of the professors worked for huge gaming companies. Like my animation professor worked at Bethesda, EA, Activism, and some smaller companies. So, very legit. Several of my professors owned their own small game companies. The amount of time, knowledge, and just everything involved can't be done by one person. Not for big time games. Maybe games like original Mario, yes, one person can make that in a couple of days. But nothing like these 3D, multiple animations, large map, etc. games. So, yeah, this is definitely a scam. If it was legit he would be hiring help. Because if he was truly trying to make this game he'd be crying if he was on his own. But, even scarier? My stalker sounds a lot like this guy and my stalker also claims to be making some game and one of their early lies about me was that I could never make a game like their because my art was "ugly." Their newest lie is I "trace" my art... They also make up lies about my dog... Anyway, anyone who acts like the stalker who is trying to MURDER me and has caused me to have to legally change my name and live in hiding is definitely a terrible person. Don't trust this guy! www.watchdominion.com I also am a major dragon fan... Look up "The Vegan Dragon." Here's my website: www.thevegandragon.info Why did he have to be doing this to a game I want to see come to fruition?!
This is a more passive way to describe what’s going on. Good job my man and I think your right about inexperienced because $12,000 is all he wanted and he gets half a million US and people who really care about the future of the game and that put pressure on anyone
What I strongly dislike is his team when answering questions about the kickstarter rewards, they act as if it's our "privilege" which would be true if it wasn't money spent from the backers. At that point with the project, when making promises in the business standpoint the backers are your consumers. Yes they support the game but that support goes both ways. He has 500k, he was supposed to bring forth 3 dragons and now his team is handling things very poorly. They need to just release a quick statement of clarifications, probably apologize to how everything has been so unprofessional, stop bickering with trolls in the server (they do it too often, it's bad), and overall just focus on the original goal. Get something solid first then build up. To make matters worse they kick excuse after excuse. I had a mod state that they don't have to give anyone beta access when... their kickerstarter packages were promoted for beta access as a main seller. If you do not "have to give" us beta access that we paid for, then you don't have to get consumer support. And while I understand the dev wasn't expecting so much then he shouldn't have added nonstop tier rewards. You know at that point you're going to get money. He would have gotten more if the kickerstarter date was longer. As much as he probably hates the word but to me he got greedy along with his ambition, losing focus on what people were backing for in the first place. He CHOSE to keep adding tiers to get more money so he should have made proper preparations asap to handle the backlash when consumers feel him and his team are not being transparent. They have half a million, half a million to go into the game and the team excuses unprofessional-ism and rash behaviors on their end. What will be this game's downfall if not checked, will be his own team if they do not get it together and stop acting on impulsive emotion rather than strategic and business planning decision making. (I'm aware they're human so don't come at me about that lmfao but they need to step up to the plate and quickly learn). Oh and threatening and holding "we can take your beta key away" over people's heads is also a huge red flag. I seen a mod or two elude to it a few times. Also what is concerning is Icy's animations. I believe Jao said the animations he has in DOD are original animations. This would imply him or his whole team made the animations themselves. But I'm not 100% on this so don't take that as fact. If this is true though, the animations are similar if not almost nearly identical. That's another major red flag as that would counter what he stated.
Let me just point this out. 3 dragon models. Shouldnt cost. $12,000 dollars. An average 3d modeller with the necessary tools can create their own high poly 4k texture 3d models in a solid 100 hours or less of cumulative work doing said modelling. 3 dragons, 300 hours. Who the hell is he paying $40 an hour to 3d model? It sounds to me like he planned on raising $12,000 to make 3 dragons at roughly $1,000 a piece, and pocketing the rest, but now he's got way more money so hes trying to figure out how to convince people that what he's promissing is really expensive. That way he can walk away with 100s of thousands of dollars while we are none the wiser. Edit: Also for anyone who may try to use model rigging and animation as reasoning for the extra cost. Let me remind you. The kickstarter was to raise $12,000 to pay a 3d modeller for 3 dragon MODELS. Not for models AND rigging AND animation. Even then the cost still shouldnt be $12,000 dollars. For reference, AAA game devs typically spend around $80,000 dollars for concept art, modelling, rigging, textures, animation, animation sequencing, and programming FOR THE ENTIRE GAME. Yeah... all of that, for the entire game, for a AAA title. $80,000 price tag. And hes spending an entire 8th of that on 3 models? Really? I call bullshit.
NeuroGuy but remember, this recode is the size of the whole game, and it will allow for bigger and better things, like deinosuchus and better combat etc
Ryaquaza 1 But he shows screenshots and streams here and there, I would rather have a rude and brash dick of a productive dev than one who is secretive as hell
As much as I love anthomnia, he is naive and too excitable about anything and everything. He needs to be more careful with who he supports and promotes. I don't want this to blow up in his face bc he was excited about dragons.

And here I am, battling with funds and stuff making my own game knowing people will feel doubtful once they see my location [Nigeria] and someone is being sketchy with all the support he got. Really really gets me in a bad mood. We can only wait to see what happens I guess.
I really want this game to succeed, I really do, but when I watched IGP's video I got really anxious, IGP brought up a lot of concerns I had no idea about(because I didn't do my research properly before backing). I'm quite anxious still but having calmed down a bit I've decided to wait and see. If the game comes out, great I can play as a dragon now. If not, I'll just have to take my lesson and live with it. Not a great feeling, but for now I'll keep hoping.
I like how you are unbiased and it seems like you want to help Jao instead of putting more pressure. Thank you, Beaver. I agree about what you said about IGP's video.
I wanted to create my own dragon game for pretty much my entire life. Ever since I first saw the old movie Dragon Heart. When I heard DoD coming up, I fell into a state of depression. I didn't want to be accused of "Stealing" the idea of a dragon game. I have no expirience in coding, game development, so on but I can sketch and I do have modeling expirience. The only issue is that I'm not very fortunate in life. I'm thankful for my 10+ year old HP laptop that has lasted me for SO long. But seeing that I need a much better PC, that I need time and just don't have the expirience and the fear of someone else having my specific idea and creating it, I just can't help but feel overwhelmed and just shattered. On a positive note, I'm glad Mr. Beaver found out his pants were dark blue.
That's kind of stupid....everyone thinks about making dragon games, and no one's going to attack you for "stealing an idea" on dragon games. Just make it, do your own stuff, 🤷
@@Night-ud4ew Thank you. It's just the way that everything is being viewed now a days. Like this game is being compared to The Isle, and when you looked at The Archotek Project and Saurian, people immediately jump into assuming the ideas had been stolen. I just don't want that.
*James, we need a Toast 3! Iknow this is a serious topic, but toast 3 is very serious!* Christmas is coming up, and I think that Toast must have Christmas hat, or even a toast pillow!*Just an idea...and yeah I KNOW Halloween hasn’t arrived yet, but just think about it, no toast, or pumpkin toast, or Christmas toast? please James, PLEASE. Or maybe even a toast 3 mini film again, I fricken love those SHORT FILMS!!!!!!! Like how toast was doing a ritual in the second one, and in the first one he MADE THE TOAST, AND ATE THE TOAST!!...and threw out a waffle.
I think you start with the 3 dragons and kick starter dragons then give more over time so start with what you promised then add updates to the game as needed
What drama for Path of Titans? Only thing I've heard about is WHO the head Dev is. PoT is being completely transparent with their development, Dev streams everyday, constant announcements/demo patches. The community is amazing, it's going to be a great game.
I didn't watch IGP's video, the title screamed Drama and I'm just not interested in that, but I trust you to not be a dramatic informer in these events. That said, I do like IGP, so all you hardcore fans can calm down, it's fine. Now then, about DoD. I do not know how to code. I don't know how long it would take, two years might be average. I understand the concern with bought assets, especially when there has been enormous funding for custom work. I also don't think he should block anyone, that does sound fishy to me. I don't like anything/anyone who only allows fandom or optimism, it looks bad, but I'm older and don't have time for all that anymore. I appreciate the screenshot from the Discord, I'd be happy to join their discord and just see what they are saying and whatnot (I don't have Twitter). I really hope you're right, and this is inexperience and overwhelming for Jao and his team, and I hope people don't run them out of gaming entirely. We don't know what's going on, and things don't happen on our watches. If this game does come out, awesome. I love dragons. The ideas I have seen look awesome. I'd totally buy the game if it goes forward. But I will just watch for now then. :)
@@Deadlable I mean, they released a new "trailer" with an altered unreal engine store asset, by which doing so in the way they did, I'm kinda sure isn't entirely legal. There's also the point I don't blame Jao entirely, I blame the people who were quick to put a game with such little proper information on the spotlight and give that much money to a project like DoD. There's other dragon games in the works that are being handled properly such as Emberfall, Draconia, and The Dragon Project with a far more legit team.
I've never heard of this game or its drama until IGPs vid popped up. Its a story we've all heard before, where a bunch of people recklessly pour their money into a project without properly investigating. Surprise, surprise, everyone goes mad once they look deeper into it, and the toxicity skyrockets from all the publicity. The Kickstarter should've ended at its first goal, and all this drama is only hampering its progress.
I know this is an old video from when the Alpha was a thing, but I will say and admit, Jao handled things VERY poorly early on in the games development. For the benefit of the doubt, he WAS a new dev and was doing things alone for a while, and hadn't yet hired the people he needed to put out what was promised in the Kickstarter. The first few years were a hot mess, his way of dealing with the people questioning him was horrible. I'm not gonna defend him for everything he's done in the past, but I have since noticed, fast-forward today, he's straightened himself out, started to get the real game off the ground and everything shown looks AMAZING. I've never been so excited for a game to the point I'd cry, as cringe as that may sound X'D Revisit DoD again one day. The vision is finally starting to take shape
They originally wanted 12,000 for 3 dragons costing 4,000 each. If they used some of the extra money to create 30 more dragons that's 120,000, a fourth of what they made. Even if they used double that to create custom maps they'd still have 120,000 left. Idk saying the money is going to go fast sounds like subtly getting fans to give more money or justify charging 5 to 10 dollars for "DLC dragons" or other micro transaction-esque money grabs.
I do hope this game actually finishes off. As a artist myself; I understand the fact that when you get attention it’s difficult not to give what you feel the amount of attention is worth. I’ve overworked myself horribly before and learned from that. I feel like Jiao May have the same issue (NOT A BAD THING) I agree with James here, he’s over his head slightly. All we need is the original Kickstarter pledges, the three dragons, I’ve been backing the project since those original Stepping stones and that’s all I want. Sure, more dragons would be great! Original animations? Even better! Custom terrain? Hell yeah! Special skins that give you abilities? YES PLEASE!! But, I can wait for that. All we need is something to prove what we put our money in is worth it, That’s all we should need. The rest of that can be added in later, some of the best games I’ve ever played update WEEKLY! Changing everything from little to huge things, it’s a great thing to have when you don’t have to release a “complete” game. I hope that this reaches someone and if it does, please remember; what if this was you? The last thing you’d want too hear is a lot of down talking and insults thrown at you and your game. Jiao probably doesn’t want it either. Be patient everyone! And great job on the video James! 💜
Saurian is in fact making progress. Due to the importance of accuracy it just takes longer than if you’d just mesh random dinosaurs together on a random map.
@@raphi____6735 you make a good point, all I'm saying is it's disappointing when a game develops for so long with very little major updates, sure the AI is awesome, but I can still only play as a dakotaraptor with one skin. It just starts to feel bland. I'm also aware that they are working on the trike(which is great)but I just wish a new playable creature would've been added earlier.

The problem is that all of the assets are actually asset flips, NOT original assets, and there's almost no code to the game...

@@Radji0086 I'am sort of worried but this entire thing actually makes sense. It would take about 2 weeks for Jao to hire someone people to help his project, it's also safe to assume that he was not ready for the success of the Kickstarter and also because of the people's expectations to the game itself. Its depend on the the game you want to create like 2D or 3D. Some program for coding python, cc+ and so much more for creating a game you can go in unreal engine. Some steps for creating a game
1- Idea ,some art concepts of your game, the story ( really important ),the logo.
You felt the need to throw in a little brag, didnt you? Still, impressive though i heard biotech was pretty competitive

Did he really get banned?
Not as far as I can tell, the DoD discord community seem to be less reactive to it
@@LoinkLoink just checked hes still in there
When it comes to these, animal survival games, the same stuff happens always :/ knew it
This is something I've never understood.
Not sure how factual it is, but it would make sense considering there are now corpses to eat in the game and such (no audio yet, though!)
But I do agree whole heartedly on the fact that their responses seem more like a case of inexperience then actual malicious intent. Not to mention, (I'm pretty sure at least) Jao doesn't have a PR team to properly handle the situation.
I truly believe this will work out though, because Jao seems genuinely excited to see this game come to life. I just hope people won't try to rip this apart because of present controversies.
Thank you for your essay sir I salute you.
Thank you for your paragraphs. They helped me understand a bit more.
I just discovered this today, via this video. I'm 3 minutes in and I'm... confused. What exactly is the issue with this game?
Honest talk? *Surprise*
**surprise*
Oh I forgot, they have also hired the guy who did the sound effects for Subnautica to do so for this game.

@@dontatmeev3r Source? Being active in the community discord for several weeks, reading all the releases made by the developers, and listening to Q&As.
paid dlc for early access games in general is a big no no and you should expect backlash if you try something like that (look at Ark and scorched Earth for example)
In any case I'm not following the situation to closely and I think they cancelled that idea?
@@Destroyerz117 So far I am uncertain whether the acid spitter dragon will be available only as preorder incentive (included with the base $20 price of the game and available to Kickstarter backers as an option for $9.99 more so they can have all the exclusives if they so desire) or whether it will just be made available as a $9.99 DLC for everyone at any time. Based on what I've heard, I'm leaning toward the former, meaning it will only be an extra charge for people who have KS backed and already own the game through that. However I am not 100% on that.

Guys you realise this is a joke
One of my degrees was in game design. I took a couple of classes on 3D
animation using 3DS Max, the same program Bethesda, EA, Activism,
Bioware, etc. use to create their 3D models.
Each class we had to
make MULTIPLE models, animate them, skin them, rig them, etc. A class
is 15 weeks. So, in 4 months we had to make 2 full models (rigged,
skinned, animated, etc.) and several practice models (complete models
that don't need full animations or skinning).
For someone who
knows what they are doing and doesn't have other classes... You could
easily make 30 dragons in a year. Especially with all the copy and
pasting abilities in the program. Base model, make numerous copies of
it, add extra to each model to make it unique, animations all can be
copied over from one... Saves a lot of time.
Then on top of this
the programming.... For a game like this, or at least the plan of it, no
one programmer can do. I mean, they could, but it would take a LOT of
time. No programmer would ever want to do this on their own... They
would hire help.
And I had to make sound for one of my game
design classes. Sure, you can find sounds online to use, but for basic
things. Like animal sounds, room ambience, walking, etc. For more unique
sounds, like for dragons, you can't buy that. You have to make it and
edit it yourself.
For those who never been in a game design
class, take one if your university offers any. The college I went to had
a huge gaming department and many of the professors worked for huge
gaming companies. Like my animation professor worked at Bethesda, EA,
Activism, and some smaller companies. So, very legit. Several of my
professors owned their own small game companies.
The amount of
time, knowledge, and just everything involved can't be done by one
person. Not for big time games. Maybe games like original Mario, yes,
one person can make that in a couple of days. But nothing like these 3D,
multiple animations, large map, etc. games.
So, yeah, this is
definitely a scam. If it was legit he would be hiring help. Because if
he was truly trying to make this game he'd be crying if he was on his
own.
But, even scarier? My stalker sounds a lot like this guy and
my stalker also claims to be making some game and one of their early
lies about me was that I could never make a game like their because my
art was "ugly." Their newest lie is I "trace" my art... They also make
up lies about my dog...
Anyway, anyone who acts like the stalker
who is trying to MURDER me and has caused me to have to legally change
my name and live in hiding is definitely a terrible person. Don't trust
this guy!

Why did he have to be doing this to a game I want to see come to fruition?!
There is already a game where you can fly dragons around and eat other things, it's called Ark.
If approximately 12 000 people backed it and they raised approximately 500 000 then each person donated APPROXIMATELY 41 dollars and 75 cents
That audio drop reminds me of 2015 gaming beaver hasbro toy reviews

I've never been so excited for a game to the point I'd cry, as cringe as that may sound X'D
