[Japanese] World Heritage Site | The world's largest Great Buddha Hall is here | WABISABI

After being built in the Nara period, the current building was rebuilt by Kokei Shonin in the Edo period after suffering two wars during the Jishō and Eiroku periods.
Rushanabutsu was constructed at its current location in 745 at the request of Emperor Shomu and completed in 752.
It is approximately 15 meters tall and is one of the largest masterpieces in Japanese history.
Nigatsudo is located to the east of the Great Buddha Hall and is thought to have been built in the late 8th century. It is famous as the setting for the ``Omizutori'' held every March.
Hokke-do (Sangatsu-do) is a Buddhist temple built in the Nara period (8th century). Ten Buddha statues from the Nara period are enshrined here.

早朝からの撮影でしたので、観光客も少なめでしたが、9時ごろには沢山の外国の方々が来られ凄く混雑するほどになりました。やはり人気な場所なんですね。人を魅了する古き建物や古都の雰囲気がなんとも言えませんね。そんな雰囲気が伝われば嬉しいです。
