Debates are for the media and clicks; participants often are trying to make the other look as stupid as possible to get people on their side. This is not how you have conversations in real life. One more thing for anyone else reading, if you have the debate mind: you can't convince anyone to do anything they don't want to do. Even if you're right, only Allah guides. You simply deliver your message in a kind manner and attempt to make an impression. Simply try to be a good person and help people around you, that's the best dawah.

How are you going to do that without the party you’re addressing giving back rebuttals or questions out of their curiosity? Provide the evidence. I'm now a senior and recently I heard professor Jeffrey Lang said something amaziling beautiful , he said God likes 2 people and hates 2 people , he loves the seeker of knowledge and the one who is willing to grow, and God hates 2 people , the proud and the arrogant ones.
Brother whether you had 'discussions' or 'debates', this is the way to go in life. Debates are for the media and clicks; participants often are trying to make the other look as stupid as possible to get people on their side. This is not how you have conversations in real life.
One more thing for anyone else reading, if you have the debate mind: you can't convince anyone to do anything they don't want to do. Even if you're right, only Allah guides. You simply deliver your message in a kind manner and attempt to make an impression. Simply try to be a good person and help people around you, that's the best dawah.
