My friend Bill Lawler flew up there quite a bit in about 1980, might not have launched from that spot but was a great fan of long distance cruising the ridge above the Blue. RIP, fell off of El Diente.
I think this was done back in the early 1970s as there was a lot of hang glider pilots flying off slopes in Colorado. As a kid, I recall seeing them at both Steamboat and A-Basin. Loveland pass is too good an opportunity as you can get out of a vehicle and head down. I have skied Loveland Pass to A-Basin numerous times both on the east side and west sides of the highway as my dad used to let me out of the car at the top of the pass on our way up to ski A-Basin.
Nice ride. I flew from very near that spot in '96, as well as from the top of Bross several times in '95. Beautiful when the air isn't crazy big. High density altitude landings, though....oof.
I flew RC slope in the bowl where you launched from in the mid 90’s. Decent site but above timberline meant landing on rocks w high ground speeds due to the thin air. Still fun though. Well done!
That looked cold... but very pretty! I did wonder where you were going to land right from the start. I see the landing area isn't the biggest in the world! 🤣
Great and ballsy flight. Interesting though, as if we land a PG in any of the A-Basin lots, we get in big trouble, even outside of operating hours. How'd you get away with it?
This was pre-planned, wasn't it. I couldn't imagine picking a landing spot down there "as you flew along". Also surprised at the ridge lift you were getting, it seemed more 'buoyant' (for want of a better description) than I would have expected in the dead of winter. Well done !
Super cool! Brad Koji flew Loveland pass back in the early 90's. RIP.

I believe HG Pilot Dusty Buckler was flying here in the early 80's If I remember correctly
FWIW
Anyway nice footage and flight!
Everyone always thinks they're the first to do things it's cute 😊
Old timer here, haven't been up that way for a couple decades, it was so cool to see that area from a birds eye view, thanks for posting.
That looked incredible!!
Nice of your buddies to BC ski up there for you. Nice flight but I recognize your support.

That was badass. I'm proud of you! I would like to do that
Awesome dude,
I have blasted those turns many times, on motorcycles and fun cars, to see them from your perspective is amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I've hit that road in a fun car.
That was beautiful and a perfect ride!

I can see Bross out my window. It would be wild to see somebody just send it off the top.
Insane!! I love this area, cool to see someone fly it! Respect for that landing, wow! Would be cool to get some back story about the hike.
Not much of a hike, the road crosses right where he launched
The no wind downhill landing was pretty tight!!

Very cool!! in more ways than one. Nice sled ride. Bet you felt good about that landing. Now lets see a summertime flight with some lift.
I suppose that's one way to beat the A-Basin parking lot 😆
That's pretty funny. The rest of us have to settle for renting a condo for the weekend.
Haha nice man. I just met you at Kitty Hawk and flew tandem with you. So cool what you're doing!
The ground effect at the landing made it look like you were beginning to run out of landing space. Nice job!

Must have felt so awesome!
Man, you went straight for your final. Great flight!)
Great view of A-basin!
Right on brotha, this is sick!! 💪🥶
At least somebody put out a WELCOME sign for you!

Nice winter flight !
That was pretty sick! I’ve never seen hang gliding pov footage before, nor from locations I’m familiar with. You should upload more content for sure.
Charlie, pretty sure you were the homie who was foot dragging my moustache at south side POTM ;) super rad dude!!!!
I love it! nice strafes, way to use up the entire LZ!
Interesting way to get to A-Basin.
Very cool brother🎉
I saw a dide do that back in 92
Should try to fly it all the way down to keystone

I wonder if you could have flown further down and landed at A basin..
So sick!
You can see Arapahoe Basin for most of the flight.
YES!
Squeeking for altitude the whole way. Good job.
Stopped on the very end of the landing field. Did you land downhill?
sick!
Bad ass!
A-Basin aerial view
Wow, did you really do that without gloves? Thats impressive. Next time can you do some footage of hiking up with the wing?
"Holy Shit"? I didn't see you shit. When did you do that?
Cool.
nice man
👍👍👍👍👍
With that amount wind I can't believe he couldn't sniff out some ridge lift...
You have a great experience like that and all you can do is cuss??
DUDE! Epic! put a link up to a map with launch and landing site man. Subscribe and check out some Dragonfly stuff and other aviation.
Hang gliders cant hike. Pilots can.
