Thanks for the video! I've had the Runt combo for a couple of years. The XLR cab sim is really great. I love cranking the amp and turning down the volume on my Tumnus and OCD. Low volumes but great tone! Everything I wanted very versatile. No buyers remorse!
I now have both in stereo! Play out for the first time New Year's Eve, I can't wait. I had the Runt for two years.

When I was watching McKnight's comparison I made a conclusion that there is no significant diference between JJ and Runt and I was about to order a new Runt. Luckily, I saw your video because your comparison opened a completely new perspective. JJ is much more open and rich in tone, Runt is much more compressed and pushes a nasal midrange character. I prefer JJ much more. This is the best Friedman compassion so far!!!
Can you please make a same comparison between JJ and PT 20 (with no Wildwood mods active). I am going to buy a Friedman, the only doubt left is, JJ or PT 20. In Europe it is very hard to find a Friedman dealer since Thomann and Muziker literally destroyed all smaller local dealers.

I agree the Runt has a bit more mids. I actually love that mid bump. Lol we like different flavors of tone, both great amps.

@@woody6946 agreed, I watched the other video and was thinking JJ, but this one actually swung my opinion towards the Runt, the note articulation seems more defined and there is less "hair" on the tone as you kick up the gain
It’s funny because even though I own a JJ Jr, I feel the Runt sounds better in this clip... But I think it comes down to how it sounds in this clip and not in person. My Jj Jr sounds so much better in person, with plenty of clarity, mid range and low end growl, and the top end sizzling is not nearly as dominating as it is in this clip. I don’t feel like this clip truly represents the JJ Jr, so any comparisons seem problematic.
Thing I like about this channel and Phillip McKnight is you guys both always get such bad tones that it's probably more accurate way to see if an amp is good. If either of you get a decent tone. Than that particular amp must be killer. Vs other guys who sound incredible on every demo of every amp so it's not very accurate
I have the runt and I can say that it sounds 1000 times better than all the rewiews in the network, I don't know why I try to leave it as the worst of all friedman when it's not like that, it sounds as good as any other firiedman
runt is a great amp especially the runt 50 sounds so big and massive but like the jj better
Have you tested multiple Friedman amps compared to the Runt? I am partial to the Runt as well, but it seems like alot of people are either in the PT-20 or JJ Jr. camp when comparing against the Runt

Love the Rubberneck Analog delay pedal- never heard or seen that one before- where do I buy one? I like the JJ better than the Runt- but all sold out now!
Gonna start calling you the GAS-man haha! I am between these to EXACT amps for a punk-rock cover band like Me First and The Gimme Gimmes...any advice as how they were in person? For reference, my main amp for my other band is an '84 jcm800 2204, which I adore. Want something in that vein-ISH but 2 channel. Cheers as always!

Based on this video, I think the Runt barely edges out the JJ Jr, imo.
Gain coming out that JJ is insane.
I prefer the less mid scooped tone of the Runt, hard to get those mids back once they’re gone. If I want high gain I’d go Engl or Peavey. To me the JJ is a Marshall wannabe but not as chuggy. The Runt sounds like the spawn of Marshall and Tweaker.

The guitar with the JJ is all wrong. Using the guitar he is using, the Runt wins out. Having a ton of gain on hand does nothing if the guitar sounds like doody through the amp.
I don't understand the goal to focus on clean sounds with tube amps? Especially with such expensive ones. I'll never buy a Friedman because it has a huge clean sound! Are you nuts?
I think many people would be surprised at how good the cleans are on these amps. It's always nice to have great clean tones on a high-gain amp

Why are Friedman amps so hideous looking? They need a better cleaner amp look.
That's what I've always thought great sounding amps but ugly aesthetics.
I think they look great and rather understated - diff strokes for diff folks i guess

The appearance is based on the old Marshall JTM45 offset heads from the early 60's. Personally, I really dig the look
