Frankie calling himself Francis made me laugh really hard
I have never been able to get very far on Kid Chameleon, but I still love picking it up and just playing the first couple of levels. This was a fun conversation, thanks for sharing.
X-Men 2 on Genesis is honestly my pick for best fucking Genesis game of all time I love it and hearing you share love for it warms my heart
Remember how it just STARTS with no title screen? And you’re given a random character to start with?
Bimmy, Metal Jesus...please do Pat next. Lol
7:29 - Yes, i do believe in medieval times per every sword swing, each and every knight ever had to whip up the face armor and yell "trademark of Link!"...
Retro Jesus's channel is totally for new or not deeply interested people lmao
Metal Jesus is too much for me
Always loved the 6-button Genesis controller, especially for MK, etc. I also got a Saturn for Christmas '96, so I was the cool kid on the North Shore running near-arcade-perfect Ultimate MK3 (with what I'd argue was Sega's best controller ever) while everyone had the PS1 lol. I always loved Sega!
Also, I couldn't agree more with Frankie; I'm all or nothing it's either composite/RF right to a CRT, or it's emulated. No need to "AVGN" it and have redundant adaptors everywhere.
X men on sega genesis was my first video game. It was awesome, can’t recommend it enough!
I came back to say you made me start modding my PS1.
Plus emulation has gotten to the point where you can not only recreate the CRT scanlines and curvature but also have it REFLECT off the sides of the bezel. Looks super realistic and I think is the definitive way to play retro games.
You know it’s a great podcast when it’s not boring but you can fall asleep with it on
I thought the joycon with House of the Dead was awful. Give me my wii and my perfect shot.
18:28 EJ approaching My Life in Gaming levels or gushing about Retro game graphics lol
6:30 Mickey Mouse has entered the chat 😂
I recently played through Crusader of Centy and Beyond Oasis on my Powkiddy V90. Great games.
5:16 So the original Genesis model 1 d-pad (red buttons) wasn't that bad, then model 2 controllers (white buttons) were a lot sharper, but in general they were really bad. It wasn't until that 6 button controller came out in which millions of thumbs cried out in relief. So many bloodied and blistered thumbs practicing Street Fighter 2, it was horrific.
I love the D-Pad and the buttons on the Genesis 3-button controller and it feels great in the hands. Not enough buttons for most games. I think part of why the SNES is better than the Genesis is because it has more buttons by default. The 6-button Genesis controller didn't feel as solid and the buttons felt cheaper to me, plus I hate the idea of buying another controller just to play the other half of the console's library.
Also, Gaming Historian did a video on Crusaders of Senti. It may be a Link to the Past ripoff, but I've only ever heard good things about it. Probably underrated. I need to play it, sometime. Always wanted to play Rocket Knight Adventures, too...
A funny thing for me is last weekend I was dead set on putting viewtiful Joe and GameCube Metroid prime on my setup. But it was acting up. Then I woke up today to a lovely remaster of prime, the timing is incredible. Did you guys like prime?
Genesis D-pad is still the best!
I'm a mega drive guy also but the controller was stiff af. Specially the d-pad lol
The Master System d-pad is the one that's considered crappy.
Dudes, i couldnt agree more. I have now obtained Everdrives for all my cartridge systems (NES, SNES, Genesis, TG16, GBA, GG, N64) and i plan on getting the Master System next. I also have GDEMU and xStation and the Satiator for the Dreamcast, PS1 and Saturn. and like you said, i can play BETTER versions of these old games on the everdrives. rom hacks, quality of life improvements, etc, even MSU 1 and MD 1 CD audio mods to 16 bit games adding CD sound tracks. Why would i ever want to play the plain old carts ever again? and yeah now i laugh at the prices of these old games and the people with FOMO breaking the bank to get ONE game when you can have ALL of the games. At the end of the day, i just want to play on real hardware on a CRT and now i can with ease. Makes me pissed that i spent so much on retro games over the years. I didnt even know about these everdrives till a year or so ago when one came with the sega tower i got off ebay.
The D-pad for the 3 button has a fault where it will start confusing down, left, and right after a while. The six button is more quality in every way imo.
If EJ is not a fan of wires on his controller, has he considered zip tying them to the ceiling?
Last time I checked the save states feature on the Genesis, with the Everdrive, is broken. Save states freeze and lose sound often.
I just uploaded a no death walkthrough of Clone Wars. My wife and I do commentary...we get pretty drunk.
The Wii's infrared is more stable over time (your pointer's position doesn't degrade) compared to the gyro-only Joy-Cons.
Drinking whiskey and playing metroid sounds really depressing for some reason...
Odd, I've been playing a lot of PS1 myself. My 8-year-old daughter is currently obsessed with Tekken 3.
I always thought the 6 buttons Sega controller had an awful Dpad.
Dear god 8bit do controllers go for that much? My new and snes ones are kind of screwed but the Genesis one is fantastic
You look like Pauly shore
Hey buuuuuddy
18:30 'It looks amazing on my CRT! I have a SCART cable for it', wat? that's not how North American consumer CRTs work lol, unless you've modded the tube itself to take it.
That is indeed what he’s saying.
Do you guys think that the switch should have a GameCube selection like they do with the n.e.s and the snes and the n64
Would be amazing but those games are too premium for them to do that I suspect
What does an RF modulator do? My CRT also only has RF.
It converts RF to S Video and composite!
@@RedCowArcade Oh dip.
Just wanna throw this out there... if anyone hates money, send it to me. I'll make sure it gets what it deserves for you.
Hm?
@@RedCowArcade Oh I dunno one of you commented something about people who hate money spending it on CRTs and hookups and I was just saying, if you hate your money that much give it to me lol
Ah got it!
I know in america the snes was king (or queen) but in my opinion, overall the sega genesis had better games.
Genesis' Contra was better, shinobi, golden age, streets of rage, all great games.
Street Fighter fanatics bitch(ed) about the stock 3 button controller a lot, just because of the button count. Everybody sane on the planet luv it ergonomics-wise. Problem is once you experience the 6 button wireless one (referring to the official IR one here) you never wanna go back. It lasts for years on modern batteries.
I still have my copy of X-men Clone Wars. Loved how you can’t select the character on the first level. Just gives you a random character lol
