I pretty much agree with everything you say here. The protagonist was too much of a Mary Poppins character for me, and I know that was intentional because the author spelled it out, but it just didn't work. I hear this is a feel-good book, but it made me frustrated with its lack of direction or plot. Not the worst book I've ever read, but a solid 3 out of 5 stars for me too

Blast from the past. I started a couple of her other books but found I just forgot them. Thank you for commenting.

This is the worst review I have heard in a long time. I believe you missed so many things. First of all this is Lesley Crete’s 16th book. It would be nice to be factual since you are reviewing her writing. You seem to have missed the point of her spoon stealing altogether and trivialized it. Vera is her alter ego and a very important character in allowing us to hear Emmaline’s thoughts. And it’s pronounced like the word “line” according to Lesley. I would recommend that you listen to interviews with her to understand the book because I think you have short changed it and I hope people do not dismiss it before reading it themselves.
