But I disagree sir. In a country where corruption has become systemic, less than 10% of the non-agro, working population paying taxes, a significant portion of the economy in unorganized sector, enormous leakage with government handouts and pro-poor programs, elections being bought w/ few hundred notes per head, and rampant corruption that is conspicous and visibile from village panchayats to chief secretary to chief minister; it is time to recognize that we have an extremely broken system. Rich is becoming richer and the poor are becoming poorer, even though we continue to grow at a 7-8% clip. The only way to stop this is by formalizing the economy as much as possible and take the fight to the common man. Modi may not have the economic acumen that you or sri. Manmohan singh, but he surely intuitively understands the common man. Nevertheless, I applaud your civil opposition and your articulation of your views with fantastic clarity. Time will tell.

Across the world the ' economy ' in the developed countries booms for one of the many reasons that one could have an allegory to a simple story. so far one could understand in the Indian context. '....it could be compared to the heavy laden carriage drawn by a pair of bullocks, on either side but of disparate caliber. The eminent Economist John Maynard Keynes, one could very well have read about his study, used to tell one bullock is the Government owned and the other pair is the private owned ( not controlled by the Govt. please note- simply to say the Black bullock ) . if both have the same stamina and strength the heavy-laden carriage could be pulled forward. But the Government should see none one of the pair becomes fat or pale. The US economy is a perfect example , the country wherefrom the Afghanistan- produced -opium is processed and distributed into the four corners of the globe . But what Modi has done is, due to his unwillingness / ignorant attitude, with the government machinery fire power in his hand , has done what Herod the Tetriach had done beheading the little children failing to find the Infant Jesus, during the Roman Empire.
