    One of the biggest problems is that Tua suffered a double concussion last year - which is infinitely worse than having two concussions that both fully healed. It can cause brain damage, and it explains why (this time) he got a severe concussion off a minor tackle.
    So, even if he gets cleared, it’ll be very dangerous for him to continue to play.

    • @erval9

      I thought so 2 years ago. Never happened. Problem is, doctors cannot "not clear" a patient in concussions cases, because damages to the brain are almost impossible to identify, as long as they don't see swelling or bleeding. All they can do, is thoroughly inform the patient of the known and documented long term consequences of multiple concussions. And let him decide.

    While I feel like Tua will play again if I'm honest not only do I feel like it shouldn't be with the Dolphins but also I’d be lying if I didn't say the chances of him not playing again are very high. Also, as I’ve said before this situation is yet another example of how the NFL hasn't taken concussions seriously even though to a degree I understand why because if they were to fully acknowledge the problem then it would destroy their brand & maybe even American football as a whole.

      They are soft with ridges.
      To slide past you want things to be hard and smooth.
      They work merely by having another layer of force absorption on top of what was already there.
      Though they really should have a hard layer on top of that to more widely distribute forces.

    The conversation shouldn’t be about if Tua should retire or not. If he’s cleared, he can and should play. It’s his life.
    The question should be if the Dolphins decide to stick with him now knowing the risk it brings every year. It’s been 2 years since the last concussion and he got one that severe, that easily.
    Hard to imagine moving forward this front office and coach wanting to place their careers in the hands of someone with that type of risk/history

    • @bolbyballinger
      @bolbyballinger Місяць тому

      Also, with his concussions being so visually problematic and also very much public there's no way they can claim ignorance.
