About Owl house: The series follows Luz, a self-assured teenage human girl who accidentally stumbles upon a portal to the Boiling Isles. There she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and an adorably tiny warrior, King. Despite not having magical abilities, Luz pursues her dream of becoming a witch by serving as Eda's apprentice at the Owl House and ultimately finds a new family in an unlikely setting.
Theres more to amitys character later
Oozmooz what's your favorite owl house character & anime character?
their species is witch doesn’t matter what gender, wizard is another occupation.
Historically, "witch" is a gender-neutral term. I think wizards are a totally different category in this world, it is a little unclear though
Even though that one guy was a fraud...who do you think would win in a magical duel between a witch and a wizard?
Specifically, who would win in a duel between Belos and...someone like Merlin or Gandalf?
I think the male version is “Warlock”
@@Joseph_Drew_III It is sometimes, but like wizard that's a somewhat newer interpretation
@@Joseph_Drew_III no warlocks do different stuff... and also hate witches
Dana Terrace said in an ama on Reddit that “wizard” in this world is just a title that some witches give themselves, but it’s basically meaningless.
Oh, yeah. Everyone getting redeamed is kinda annoying. But you know what the problem with people complaining about Amities redemption arc is? There needs to be a thing one is redeemed for... and she did nothing wrong. ... No really. Point to something that was genuinly the absolutely wrong in those two episodes, with her.
Willow did absolutely horrendous in Abomination class, which means she didn't put any effeort in and there's a future episode that makes that worse in hindsight. Then her and Luz cheated, taking what Amity achieved by hard work alone, making her even angrier at Willows 'Put no effort in attitude.'.
Some people make the claim she tried to get Luz dissected, but seriously, like she would expect someone with even basic intelligence to not react? Of course she would blow the cover, revealing the cheating and run away, or get caught and get into trouble. They ruined her efforts via cheating and embarrassed her in front of everyone, while she was mean to Willow for not doing even the bare minimum and revealing them.
Luz was kinda the asshole in that episode.
This episode, she was rude, because she was reasonably angry for what happened at school. As well as stepping on Kings cupcake, which he with his talking dog behavior would have obviously eaten no matter what. And not to forget the high crime of fighting in a duel, that she wasn't the one to demand.
Oh, yes. She also made a rule demanding Luz would stop learning magic, which she thought Luz didn't put any effort in anyway, based on Luz having helped Willow cheat befor.
And she got embarrassed befor an even bigger audience and had all her efforts thrown in her face, with people thinking she cheated, thanks to Lilith putting a glyph on her in secret.
She's been giving 110%of work and now everyone is thinking she's a phony, despite always having been above board.
Thanks and great comment.
I don't understand this people who writte about Amity's redemption then she did nothing to need one.
I was in both Episode's on Amity's side and that she Was not friendly to Luz or Willow was understandebel.
I didn't like luz or Willow this Episode's.
Witch is actually commonly and supposed to be used for any magic user. Wizards i believe was supposed to be a name for manipulative magic users
Amity is more of a Zuko, witch is fitting since her v.a. voiced Katara
Not even close because she Was never evil or want to kill luz
@@marcelhunter1862 story arc from a rival to friend and later spoiler
@@obsidianwolf9966 ok sorry
@@marcelhunter1862 I’d argue that Zuko was never evil either. And Amity did try to have Luz dissected. Of course, she didn’t know exactly what Luz was at the time, but she knew that Luz ate food, which would make her alive.
Granted Zuko’s actions were still much worse than Amity’s, and lasted way way longer, but neither of them were ever evil and they both tried to have the main character killed at some point. They both do everything possible to try to impress an awful parent, they both feel inferior to their siblings who are favored by said parent. They both start out as broody, unhappy people who lash out angrily at those around them.
@@JNDReacts Wrong Bumb wanted the dissection Amity only told him Willow cheated after she lie Amity in the face and Amity was unable to find out by herself.
And Willow and Luz are fault that luz get almost disected they cheated and lie and instead of telling Bumb the truth Willow wanted to disect Luz she asced even the stupid question you can cut open a human right? Knowing she is a living being and can Fell pain.
Amity didn't try to impress her parents they Controll her and she don't have really a choice
I think tropes are fine, as long as you use them well. When it comes to Amity, I think the show doesn't deal with her arc very well early on, because it wants to make her seem annoying, but also doesn't do it in a way that's very easy to justify in the context of her future redemption. I think it's supposed to be that she's a nuanced character who conflicts with the main character because of circumstances and her own issues, but because there's really no solid reasoning to back her characterisation so far, she just comes out as bitchy. Also, her debut episode really did her dirty, because really she was right about a lot of the things she was angry about, but the writers just made her act bitchy for no reason and it seemed wrong to me.
I think if a trope like this is done in a new/nuanced way and with a better execution, maybe you could enjoy it again even though it's overdone, but until then I guess it's a trope that people like and that's why it's a trope.
Also, I've watched all of the Owl House episodes out so far and I'm still not sure what all of the 9 main covens are and I find that kinda weird. I wish the show had taken a bit more time to explain what each of them is. Unless they're supposed to be hidden and revealed little by little, but I dunno even that could be done in a clearer way.
With that being said, though, Episode 5 is a pretty good one and that fight at the end there shows an interesting thing about this show, which I don't often think western animations have, which is well-animated fights (when it comes to the big ones, at least).
I very much agree, Amity mostly shows up with other characters trying to help her and convince her to stand up to her mother or be honest with herself
I would have loved a season 1 Amity centric episode without Luz, just Amity going through her normal day and seeing why she was miserable or even one where she bonds with her siblings(don't really see enough of those two)
That in mind, Boscha has some interesting qualities to go with this trope, but one person a show is more then enough for it
Wait until he knows about lumity
Another great episode!
Nice to see you back with some more vore...I mean owl house Ryan
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Ich freue mich sehr das es eine neue Folge gibt.
Willow and Luz are the trashback humans in ep3 and ep5.

If you could choose any of the nine covens to join, which one would you pick and why? Here are four of my top picks...
1. The Bard Coven (the one with the red harp symbol.) If you're familiar with D&D, you'll remember that a bard's powers lie in their performing arts and musical skills. With just the strum of a lute, I could tame a dragon and make it my life-long friend. With the music of a violin, I could lull an entire army to sleep in seconds and with a flute...well, you get the idea.
2. The Healing Coven (the blue one with the bandaged hand.) Considering how desperate the Human World is for healers right now; with such magic, I could cure something as life-threatening as cancer or COVID with ease. But as a result, I'd put hospitals out of business.
3. The Beast-Keeping Coven (the one with the symbol of a creature hatching from an egg.) I mean...c'mon, who WOULDN'T want the power to have every beast in creation at your beck and call?
4. Gus' crew, the Illusionist Coven because I'd put all those Vegas hacks to shame.
Now...imagine combining two of these together, somehow; with the combo of Bard and Healing, I could heal the sick with a simple song. If I combined Bard with Illusions, I'd be my own one-man band AND one-man stage crew. With Bard and Beast-Keeping, I could be a real world Pied Piper and lull animals with music into doing what I want.
Who wouldn't want all this
I don't think the healing coven would put hospitals out of business healers would work at the hospital
Cmon Ryan. You like Vegeta. And he was literally a murderer originally.
As far as the trope goes, not at all. I love it. Pacifica and Amity are my favourite character from both shows. Tropes exist for a reason after all. Besides, it's not like we have NO characters to hate. Pacificas parents genuinely were garbage people.
Mattardis what's your favorite owl house character & dragon ball character?
@@joshwright4799 well, I just said my favourite from owl house. My favourite dragon ball character is probably frieza
I can't wait for him to react to enchanted grom fright and wing it like witches
same lmao
I agree that there’s a lot of redemption arcs, but there’s also the ones who just straight-up die like Player 101. And I feel that evens things out nicely.
they also have that one girl that hangs out with amity that continues to be a horrible person all the way through.
I had to wait so long for this
1x05: “An annoying character that I want to hate.”
1x06 *Boscha and Tibbles have entered the chat*
Luz: *Even if I win now, I lose...*
(What I thought Ryan was gonna say) : *Yes, you do, because you're Luz. LOSER!*
Or something like that 😅
Both have been done to death. Redemption of a bully and recurring bully that gets humiliated by the hero.
What I found interesting about Amity was that the heroes just turn to cheating to get one over on her both of these times. Which is usually the opposite of what typically happens. The bully cheats and lies to be seen as good, and the hero's hard work trumps them.
Not the case here. The bully is better than the hero due to experience and is cheated out of victory by third-party intervention.
Why did you see Amity in the Beginning as a bully?
@@marcelhunter1862 the way she talked to Willow at the beginning of episode 3, when as far as either of them know they were the only two people around, was bullying behavior.
Don’t get me wrong, having seen all the episodes, knowing their history and Amity’s personal backstory, I understand why she acted that way, but she was still mean to Willow for no reason in that first interaction. She could’ve just kept rolling past her and not stopped to rub her perfect abomination in Willow’s face.
@@JNDReacts yes Amity was mean in this scene but she was telling the truth Willow was Bad everyone call her half a witch and have Willow train she could be better at class.
i mean in danish basically a which is a female mage and a wizard is a male mage but how i understand it in english is that witchcraft is more about curses and the like and a wizard is more about the general kind of magic
and if you want a male which then look no further then to the Lord of the Rings and the Witch King of Angmar
I think you would really like to watch Inside Job on Netflix
You just made me realize Dipper is actually favorite character from Gravity Falls. Yet my second fave is Pacifica.
The super powerful nose creature, kinda look like how the creator drew herself sometimes.
Oh my god, finally, a kindred soul, I hated/dislike Amity so much xD
Bc I too was "little Miss Perfect" when I was her age, BUT I had one diference, the anger, I could actually managed it, you can't be "perfect" if you show your anger/frustration. You can't be "perfect" if you are not gracious.
Honestly, I like characters that are confident assholes way more than the "I'm an ass cuz I'm hurt" type.
BUT, like Pacifica, not all "assholes cuz I'm hurt" characters are bad, as long as they face consequences for their actions I like them.
I liked Amity since Episode 3 because she was in the right and Luz and Willow in the wrong.
I really dislike Willow she would let Luz disected befor telling the truth and get Not even punish at the End.
@@marcelyuzuki6376 Oh yes, Willow was definitely in the wrong there, (same with Luz tempering in the library with the twins) but my thing is more about the anger, even if you are seething in fury, you are supposed to keep it down.
And I find her a little oblivious of her calling Luz a "bully" (library episode), when she was actively mocking Willow.
But she mellowed out, she is ok
@@angelajaime5155 In ep3 Amity say only the true and how Willow stand what we saw later in the Episode.
And even in ep15 Willow say She let her new friend pick on her she don't mention Amity bully her and i don't she Amity bully Willow either in the show.
I just noticed that if you cut your hair and shaved your beard but let your mustache continue to grow long, you would look a lot like Jeff Daniels in the movie Gettysburg!
Witch is historically a unisex term for anyone who practices witchcraft, and that's how it's used here.
Another term for male majic user is warlock
I love your videos. Keep up the good work.
Y e s lol
First Amity don't have a redemption arc or somthing else because you need to be done somthing bad and Amity didn't do Anithing wrong.
Second Willow knew Luz is a Human and she would disect her, Willow even ask "You can disect a Human right?" Willow would disect Luz befor she would tell the truth and she don't even get punish for it.
