The Band was such huge admirers and fans of The Staples Singers that they had early records of them that Pops ,Mavis and the girls did not have themselves ! Look at Levon's face as Mavis sings her verse of the song ....heavensville !

One of my favorite groups. This is just one of the best recordings ever. Saw them once and
    I was awestruck.

The best version of "It makes no difference" is from The Last Waltz, or Casino Royal. Both are easily found here on Utube.

The Last Waltz is a concert documentary that covers The Band's influences and career1. The idea for a farewell concert came about early in 1976 after Richard Manuel was seriously injured in a boating accident1. The film features The Band's farewell concert, which included performances by rock greats such as Bob Dylan2. The film was directed by Martin Scorsese2.

It was before 76 because The Last Waltz was on Thanksgiving 1975. You are right about Richard's accident, but I think Robbie was thinking about it before that, since the drug use and car crashes by Richard, Levon and Rick was getting out of control.

One of the greatest versions of one of the greatest songs ever written.

Both versions are great. It should be Casino Arena. Can't tell which version is best, the one from Casino does not skip a verse as does the one from The Last Waltz. Some think the Casino version has more grit. I love them both, I love watching Rick from The Last Waltz, the Casino one is in black and white, but Rick still is handsome.

The Chester verse is sung by the great Rick Danko. He is my favorite Band singer, although both Richard and Levon are great singers. However, Rick puts so much soul and feeling into his singing, and he is the king of harmony. Listen to Rick singing It makes no difference, it will break your heart.

Agreed. Rick will make you cry just by opening his mouth. It Makes No Difference will; make you ball.

@@hlawrencepowell You are right about that, and of course let's not forget that Robbie wrote the lyrics. Robbie wrote that song with RIck in mind, he felt Rick could sing it without coming off as self pity, which Robbie didn't want, and of course he was right.

Love the Band since first saw them play with Bob Dylan in 1974 and the Staples are the best!

IMHO, this is the second greatest concert film of all time, just a notch behind Stop Making Sense.

Great reaction sir. I was privileged to see the Last Waltz at the iconic Cinerama Dome theater in Hollywood CA when it was released. It was truly a magical experience, like being at the actual concert! No obstructed views and the THX Dolby sound system delivered that live concert sound. Though i wasn't a huge fan of the band, i went to see Joni Mitchell's rare appearance/ performance, along with Dr. John, Emmylou Harris, and Neil Diamond. ❤

I believe Garth played a Lowrey organ rather than the more 'famous' Hammond.

@@therewatchproject Thanks for not taking offense to criticism, many do. Now for the bad news, as far as these music reactions, I prefer just a visual of someone listening to a song in full, like most hear a song for the first time, but of course YT makes it difficult to do that. Anyway, different strokes for different folks. Good luck with your channel.
