Yes it is true that JYJ is not the first group to terminate their contract with SM. The first group was Shinhwa, but you are also forgetting that at the time that SHinhwa terminated their contract, SM was not fully solidified. In other words, SM was a new company and was still learning the ropes. This was also said by Shinhwa in their appearance in Beatles Code 2. This is the reason why Shinhwa was able to leave SM and still keep their name.

The illegal parts of it by law was that SM bound their performers to 13 years by contract which is illegal (7 years is the maximum number of years). Therefore SM had to pay those two. Indentured servants worked for 7 years, this contract is for 13 years PLUS. The buyout would never be calculated correctly without an extensive accounting. I've worked in the music business and this is probably one of the worst contracts I've ever seen. It's a shame for the talent. They deserve better.
You have to figure that artists in the US or in Europe at the same level of success are living in mansions, not dorms. They don't have to beg their cameramen or producers for money or food. They get song writing credits (even if they don't write most of the song). They are members of BMI, ASCAP or SESAC and get royalties. It appears to be very different for most Korean artists.

I who followed Yunho, Jaejoong, Yoochun, Changmin, and Junsu from long ago knew exactly what happened (with their case). You don't even know what you're saying. Korea is not as clean as it seems, everyone is trying to find scandal, their words can be twisted (Jaejoong most often), even a small scandal can become big when the buzzer intervenes. Even Jaejoong's case is not as serious as the case of other Korean artists (young artists who violated and gathered in bars during the early days of Covid) but everyone took it as a very serious matter than murder. Because Jaejoong made people aware of the dangers of Covid (at that time) and made TV shows that invited many artists were postponed because it turned out that many of the artists were affected by Covid.

I still firmly believe that HoMin stayed behind because Yunho is known as "the one who keeps all promises" and it wasn't his personality or character to leave, and Changmin stayed bc, well, Changmin is Changmin. But please remember, Yunho did say they'd stand on stage together again one day. Maybe he's planning something, no?
Consumer issue (crazy fans) and management issue. Fans need to chill out and stop getting into celeb's privacy. Understand that they are human beings, who get sick, get hungry, desire privacy, and can be torn down!! Management needs to give consumers chill pills instead of forcing celebs to meet the stupid consumers' and fans' dumb demands.
