Remember that Johannes Vermeer had only one art lover who supported him financially, his family was very poor and had to take care over more than 10 children, due to all the suffering he died very young, still there are experts who are blaming him at several points, f.i.the camara obscura ,shame on you !
an artist who could paint this masterfully had no need for a drawing aid; afterall painting is drawing (with paint). He may have projected images and observed the lens artifacts and later incorporated them into his painting. His tiled floors were constructed with chalk lines and pinhole vanishing points...these would have been the easiest thing to trace with a projector.
