Amen! Homeless shelters have a waiting list unless it's like extreme conditions outside and then it's literally just letting you stay in like, a waiting area for the night, not even a cot. I knew someone who waited 2 months for a space in the local homeless shelter, where it was literally a cot in a room with 100+ people, nowhere to charge your phone and you're only allowed one bag of personal items. The caveat with that guy was, he thought he'd have it made - just sleep there at night and then chill at MY house all day because they kick you out at 7AM and you can't return til like 5 or 6 because they expect you to be working to save up (plus they also pay your first month and deposit on an apartment if you stay the full 3 months and are working, so not a bad deal). They actually hook you up with jobs, too. I helped me out for a few weeks before he got in and he ate all my food (sneakily) and just sat around the house all day so I was on the verge of kicking him out anyway. Literally the day after he left, he's knocking on my door at 7:30AM, didn't let him in, sorry hun, can't live rent free and still have something of a "home" here, bruh.
