  • One of my favourite vehicles is the Hymer Duomobile. There are two types of this vehicle - one is under seven metres and weighs under 3,000kg and the other is 80cm longer, weighs 3,500kg and costs around EUR40k more. Here I present both and you can decide which one you like the best!
    I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
    In my UA-cam channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Benimar, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow and others.
    I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
    I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
    I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

    Not been a huge fan of front bed arrangements. But they seem to have evolved, now look much more private than before and very close to same feeling as normal rear bed. This opens a lot of new space to the rear. Travelling with a labrador this would work fine. It looks like overall insulation of front area is better now. I like the small one a lot. Still I would prefer styling would come from the era of our grand parents. Thank you for the video!

    Alan, the main difference between the two models is the smaller has a third travel seat and the longer has also a fourth one more comfortable, both covered in the rear setties, thus the difference in length also.This year the offer at the Duesseldorf Caravan salon has a much wider options area!Between this two Duos, I'd choose the smaller one, though 7 meters long is already a bad choice for ferries and parking lots in towns... :)Many thanks for all your vids and useful reviews!

    At first glance, it looked like the title said Hymen Douchemobile. Not to mention you never showed the driving compartment either. But thank you so much for putting up a free video! ...hope that is better...

    I would choose the smaller as it has less shiny bling , the lack of prep space is über annoying as there are many design solutions to increase prep space. Using the lower table will strain the lower back muscles.Van conversion, Murvi ,Shire have far better kitchens Agree with you about designing for four when only used by two.Again two versions of a Van could be made .

      BTW Justin I have uploaded an article on the B704SL and B708SL as well as its chassis which should answer your questions about it!

    Good video, Alan. Thanks for sharing. It's a shame there is no MB chassis option.

    this is MY fav too. i like it i like the headroom in the sitting area and the privacy built in in the drop down. this Duo mobile seems like more floor space too for people with dogs. I dont like the steps not when ive got tiny dogs. I like the flat all throughout on floor. Its super nice i would go for bigger one your going to spend 100 grand id get the bigger one :P

    Well as you have asked, should I have the money then it'd be the shorter one. Why? As you pointed out a darn sight more practical than the longer one plus does everything that you could want in any case. Regarding getting about after you have parked up, I'm guessing that both have a reasonable row weight? In which case a small car on a dummy axle might be the answer, probably something like a Panda or even a (not so) Smart.

      Sodding spell checker! That was tow not row!

      Annoying the spell checkers. My phone only allows four languages which means that when I get to the fifth it comes out all funny!

      I don't know what the tow length is but would you really want to tow a car behind this?

    Another great review, Thanks. Was last year that certain manufacturers were offering 10 yr. warranty for moisture intrusion and is that still offered? Can one buy motorhomes at a discount from the Dusseldorf RV show?

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  7 років тому +1

      There are some ten year warranties but it is not standard. Manufacturers claim to offer a show discount but I would think you would get that outside the show too!

    The shorter version was the van I was aiming to buy for a while. Really like both of them tbh - but not cheap :)

    Pity Hymer don't build a daily run about van - 7 foot wide, 2 metres high (able to enter underground parking) etc
    Double floor is an excellent idea, I must use it.

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  7 років тому

      Hymercar is a daily run around - for example here : ua-cam.com/video/y5WN9oJh_AY/v-deo.html

    How good is the build quality on these?

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  6 років тому +2

      I think one can only tell how good build quality is after a couple of years of use. Having however seen the the Hymer test track, I suspect it is pretty good!

    Slightly biased here as we have a Frankia i740 Plus 50 but I think the Frankia is a far better take on this layout - also I beleive Frankia build a better motorhome TBH - Hymer groupies are a little bit like the BMW groupies back in the 80/90's while all the clever people bought Audi's (Frankias) hahahah - just joking but I do beleive Frankia have made a better job of this layout

      Always nice to hear a second opinion Terry! I do like Frankias by the way! I shall be posting a couple of films with them this autumn!

    Pourriez vous recommencer votre présentation ? Le film est si mauvais que je ne comprends rien à la disposition intérieur, j'ai cru comprendre que la chambre se trouvait en cabine, mais où sont passés les fauteuils? Filmez un plan... , celà durera moins longtemps et l'on comprendra beaucoup mieux. Merci

      Les fauteuils sont au dessous du lit dans la position de nuit. OK je le ferai a nouveau quand j'aurai l'occasion.
