My first car was a 1975 Volvo 164E Fuel injection one of the first fuel injected cars they made when I got the car it was already 25yrs old and in great shape. I got it repainted had some repairs over the 3yrs I owned it, loved that car. I finally had to part with it because the fuel injection harness was so worn and brittle and I couldn't find any shop that wanted to take the job of replacing it because the part was almost impossible to find and the mechanics I spoke with said it was a nightmare job to do.
That’s too bad. All the terminal ends are shared by Mercedes injection parts too, so they should have been available that way. I hope you got many miles out of it before parting. I will be talking about some wiring replacement in my ‘72 164E in a future EV episode
@@DavidBello I wish that I had held on to it much longer and waited until I could find someone to fixit. It was really amazing what pristine condition it was in, I just didn’t realize the gem I had in my possession, I was young and dumb.
I saw those same old Volvos at that junkyard too, was heartbreaking to see them. I went there for the 142, but I did grab a few things from that same 164 - the wheels, trim pieces, and few things from the engine.
😱 Mercedes Coupe type W114 (nicknamed /8) are worth a small fortune in Germany respectively Europe. Even very rusty ones. To see the blue car jacked up respectively on these posts so wrong and therefore damaged, was a real heartbreaker. What makes it even worse: The blue car looks relatively rust free. 🙈
Nice work David! I met you at one of the IPD Garage sales, maybe 5 or 6 or 8 years ago. Where did you get the spray paint, and any idea how I can find the correct paint code for the ~1976 245 bright 'orange' color? I've got a 1977 245 that needs a full repaint, & I want to paint it that color. My other Volvo is a 1996 850R estate, highly modified (R brakes were the most recent upgrade). It's painted Volvo 'Dark Olive' (dark green).
Hi Stephen, VP auto parts carries all the correct paint needed for these. Sometimes a slight shade off, like my engine bay, but closest to OEM and great quality cans!
I think Eric and his Bro @ Hi Performance Auto have managed to move to a new location? Perhaps you can confirm that. I hope they didn't have to scrap anything too valuable.
Did you spray under the battery tray? I'm sure you did. Just checking. It's a gorgeous colour. I'm eagerly anticipating EV conversion details. Cheers Gary
