I'm not sure why you're facing issue with the gestures. I use Redmi Note 7 Pro and gestures work really great with all third party launchers for me!! And all the animations also works well.
You can actually use any 3rd party launcher on any miui 12 device : Install fluid navigation gestures, install 3rd party launcher, go to settings and enable gestures. There you go.
Yes, thanks for saying that all displays are excellent now. This is the truth and it is pure advertising and sponsoring when I see reviews of the S21 line on YT and the hyperbolic claims they have the best displays in the Universe! They may be, though it is easy to argue to the contrary, for many of us, most displays are now ridiculously good. When this phone came out I said it would be one of the better mid-range (high) phones and although the s20FE gets all the YT love, I would still suggest this as a viable alternative, especially as it is now close to the current price of last year's S20FE, around £550! With MiUI 12.5 the skin and UI as well as performance and efficiency is improving. Of course, there are many solid devices at this price so a hard choice. For me, I am avoiding the SD888 as it seems to be a sub-par upgrade cycle and likely will look at the Pixel 6 or wait for 2022.
Finally someone spoke about the glitch with Nova Launcher & MIUI, hate Xiaomi phones due to this issue.... never gonna buy any Xiaomi phone ever until they resolve this issue...
Idk, but my nit-picky gripe with MIUI/Xiaomi phones is that the software does not add bottom padding for the keyboard directly baked into the system when using gesture based navigation. It's either the devs of whatever keyboard app you're using add a toggle to add bottom padding or get stuck with inaccurate typing. It's so annoying how easily you can toggle swipe gestures when hitting the space bar since it's all the way down the bottom. I'm so used to Gboard, but now I find myself trying to make do with Microsoft SwiftKey that offers the functionality of adding padding and deciding how big you want it to be.
I have a Mi11 Pro coming as an upgrade to my old Note 10 +, though your take on the software was a little worrisome, I'm also a long time Nova Launcher (Premium) user. The Samsung to Xiaomi transition could be interesting.
Finally, someone noticed that MIUI is so bad in 3rd party launcher situation..... I'm totally sick with system launch, it doesn't let you set any custom icon size 😓 I think if you will mention it all your upcoming xiomi phone reviews then they will try to fix it And miui bugs are also device specific, you can see camera dead issue on poco x2 & many uncountable little stuffs . That's just how Xiaomi does glass backs. It's the same deal with Note 10 Pro and Poco F3. It feels cheap, but doesn't affect usability. If a solid feel is what you're after, Samsung and Apple are hard to beat. The 4 year old Note 8 still feels indestructible.
My Mi 11 died after 3 months of use.. Bought it new and everything, was satisfied but then it died, service center told me that the motherboard died and they'll either compensate me by giving me a brand new unit or refund.. Picked refund and got myself a S21+
Maybe it has something to do with the overheating issue. Some users reported that the overheating is so serious that their motherboard were burnt. Should have been a great phone but I won't risk buying this. They fixed the overheating with 12.5.8 update but nah
Most reviewers are saying between 5-6hrs, but when you read customer reviews, they say that you have to charge at least twice a day. I'm not a heavy user but I do stream music from my phone to my BT speaker from around 8am-4pm and with the usual, calls, texts, social media etc, so I'm wondering how long it would last considering it would be off charge from 6am.
