  • Most kitchens are not built with wheelchairs in mind. There are a couple simple hacks that will make any kitchen more accessible to someone vertically challenged.
    Check out what I do to provide extra safety and comfort when chopping and a quick storage solution!

    Part of our learning curve is adapting. Making things work for us. Yes, its necessary but at times fun. As i love my chair arms, i adapted a piece of wood and some pipe to make it attach to the inside of the arm rest tube. Now i have a table to work on if needed.

    Hi, Tanelle! I put a rubber mate which is made for under the carpet and put it under the Tablet for it doesn't slip aside. Another one l but on the tablet to lay down a normal wooden less big tablet on it so l don't have all the little cuts nor golour of e.g. purple (lol) grocery for eternity on that tablet on my knees!
    I buy the rubber, 1 m x 60 cm , for about 1€ in a 1€ - shop. This l use to cut it in pieces how leneed them. 12x12 cm to open little glasses of olives etc, one to put under my plate that it doesn't slip away , one is in my rucksack, etc.pp. That helps in all kitchens, not only in tiny ones. Thanks for the vid.

    That is funny about kids eating dirt . When my daughter was really young we were in Jumbo Video and when we were looking for some video's we did not notice right away she was eating popcorn off the floor . She has grown up now, likes spicy food , very rare steak and is a wine drinker ..lol

      @@ProTipsForParas , you could be pretty much sister . She is around your age and you both could be a bad influence on each other while drinking wine ... lol I was talking to her tonight and she was relaxing with wine after work

    Thanks for making these. I'd love to see a vid on how you workout from home. I've been steadily gaining weight since my injury despite eating almost nothing and doing dumbbell workouts. Would be great to know how you manage to stay in shape. I'm a T3 complete so it's nice seeing how someone with a similar injury does things.

      sarajudith91 Ever consider a handcycle?

    • @rackemwells
      @rackemwells 4 роки тому +1

      “Real” exercise?? Your reality seems to be conflicting with your dreams, something I too struggle with. I can’t do squats so I don’t dream about them. If you’re gaining weight and want to curb that, a handcycle is far more beneficial than doing body building in your living room. Handcycle meaning a bike you ride, not a gizmo mounted to a wall.

      I won't be back at home for a while (and when I get there it will be in recovery after another back surgery)
      But Jeremy is right. I have a stationary hand cycle (bought off Amazon) that sits on a desk top. I also have a 'perfect pullup' setup in the doorway of my laundry room that I use as much as I go through the door. Only 3-6 at a time. Plus I choose to park a bit further away from appointments so that I am forced to wheel there. Going for 'walks' is a good aid.

    The seats from my wheelchair are 50 cm from the floor, most of the kitchen is available to me and I can easily use a table, refrigerator and stove for cooking.

      My new one should be around the same height and my current one is quite a bit lower, is there anything you find more difficult with a higher chair or advantages outside being able to reach benches?

    • @ddSmol
      @ddSmol 4 роки тому

      @@ashb7487 The height of the wheelchair is selected individually for each patient. It is necessary to measure the distance from the foot to the inside of the knee and add 5cm to this size and this wakes up the seat height more comfortable for you, it is also necessary to take into account how thick your anti-decubitus pillow is. The footrest from the ground should be raised 5 cm. It’s convenient for me to transfer from my wheelchair (50 cm) to a bed, sofa, chair, but it’s not convenient to sit on the floor and the ground and go back to the wheelchair from the floor. Usually, universal wheelchairs have the ability to adjust the height of the seat, if you are not comfortable 50 cm, you can change this distance if the wheelchair has such settings.

      I have always been 'tall'. I like the tall chair for ease of transfers and just living the daily life.

      It’s hard morally when your growth is at the level of other people's ass. 🙃 Especially if you are in a crowd. 😫 It does not concern you personally, it applies to all of us who use a wheelchair. 😜

      I mean No offence. I do care for your soul.
      When we die, the body goes to the grave, the spirit (life) to God who gave it, the soul to be with the Lord OR into hell.
      Your soul DOES need saving.
      Choose wisely my friend.
