My priest once told me I had a hard time for giving this person and my priest said please forgive this person and please bring it from the heart and I did and then at that point, I said, but I don’t wanna be around her and Father told me that you can forgive, but you do not have to associate with that person any longer if it brings heartache

Any Addiction is bad, so if you are addicted to someone who is not good for you, you must let them go, just like alcohol, food, sex, money, anything. This is because it or they take you away from God and the life he wants for you.

1thing that has helped me tremendously that may work for you & others is simply speaking to the lord and telling as you would your father & best friend, "Dearest Father you know all hearts and I just don't feel it in me to forgive (such and such) please help me to feel in my heart BECAUSE I DO NOT BUT I KNOW IN YOUR NAME WE MUST FORGIVE and I DESIRE WHOLE HEARTEDLY to be FULLY Obedient to YOUR WORD & WILL". And I would repeat this UNTIL suddenly I truly started feeling pity or seeing the situation & person as God would & keeping ALWAYS in mind that I myself WANT God's forgiveness. And eventually I would truly feel the forgiveness from my heart. God already knows our troubles, weaknesses etc He just WANTS US TO COME AND BRING it to him & allow to take care of everything. Like the surrender Novena. Just thought I'd share this because it really works. Or saying Lord allow me to forgive for your sake, for love of you, never let me away from you and following your ways, commandments, ways etc. God loves when we seek his help & bring our difficulties to the foot of the cross.

There is a fine line between acknowledging, accepting any responsibility for "psychological compatibility" between oneself and diabolic entity and *blaming* people for things that happened to them that were beyond their control.
Father Gabriel Amorth, in his book *An Exorcist: More Stories* writes, "I refer to Luke 9:38-43, which describes antother extremely serious case of possession. This time, first the demon's victim becomes mute, then he is tormented by the evil spirit, who throws him on the ground and convulses him with seizures, like an epileptic. Worse: this demon is destructive and wants the death of his victim, his father's only son, by throwing him now into fire and now into water. I call your attention to two important details. First, Jesus asks, "How long has he had this?" (Mk. 9:21). The Gospel never tells us the cause of a particular possession, but in this instance, it mentions the length of time, "from childhood". Why is this important? Because it reveals that, obviously, the victim is guiltless."
The process of combing through childhood trauma is a delicate one and the possibility of curses befalling a child is real. This must be delicately sorted through, *with extreme attention given* to nuances that avoid blaming a child (or someone still caught in the trauma of a child-like state).
Is the Liber Cristo method committed to carefully parsing out distinctions between cases of possession (or obsession or the like)? Does it acknowledge that sometimes, as scripture says and a Fr. Amorth notes, people have fallen under a curse and they were *guiltless* in that process? Or is everything a matter of psychogical compatibility for which a person is always responsible?

Yes, forgiveness isn't a one time thing like a delete button like "oh I've forgiven things on the first try and now I'm all smiles and I never feel any hurt over that situation ever again! fiddalee dee!"
Forgiveness means I will not let what was done to me in the past ruin my relationship with God.
Think of it this way, God is our physical therapist for our broken heart and Forgiveness is His theraphy session.
You don't just walk in and have one session and FLABAM! perfectly healed!! No, we go in as often as needed and our divine HEALER takes us through the exercises that little by little mend our broken hearts.
As St Paul said "we must out away the old man every day" and that is how forgiveness functions- it helps us to put away the bitter old flesh every day.
Hope that makes things clear :)

We all pray for him but his wife left him and children turned their backs to him. My parents keep him close bc they feel like "prodigal son". I have forgiven but the hurt the manipulation lingers and continues as I see him creating only chaos in others lives too. I feel like God will not forgive me and will reject me bc I have stepped away and cut him off. He is very unstable and has abandoned everything for drugs. Please put things into perspective. Each person that tries to help gets used and manipulated. Cant u forgive and not be a doormat. Is it best to allow this evil to torment my own soul for stepping away. I have gone to confession but the pain lingers bc I see him hurting others . I don't hate him but I do hate what he is doing. Please clarify. Thank you Sir. Much respect.

You have the right point. You can forgive, but if they don’t repent or are still being bad to you and others. You don’t have to let them into your life. For example, when someone is excommunicated, they are not automatically damned, but rather they are separated from the community so they may realise the error of their ways and return. The separation is meant to be medicinal.

It is right to forgive another person. We all have defects of character. Jesus says forgive your brother not just 7 times but 77 times. You do not have to have the person actively in your life to forgive them. Many times it is easier to forgive from a distance. Truly forgiving someone means protecting their reputation by not bringing up for discussion their weaknesses. Drug addiction is a disease, just like Cancer only people with cancer are treated with far more compassion love and empathy. Too often it is the people around who continually speak and assume the worst of a person projecting long into their future, almost putting a CURSE on the person by their words. How hard must it be for the unforgiven person to overcome any character faults. We should be much more loving and expect greatness for every person.❤

You earn the Heaven by being good because the best way to love Christ is to love your neighbour. The important is to be good......By loving the poor, the miserable, the excluded, we are loving Jesus and Jesus told that. Some people lived in tribes, never saw a Bible, never heard the name of Jesus, but followed Christ with their actions. Others repeat the name of Jesus but follow the devil with their actions.

I find people who have trouble forgiving are prideful. They cannot see that their own anger , lust, envy, greed ect ect are just as sinful as others .
    And this pride will cry out , " I didn't kill anyone " .
But little do they realize that they too have anger and for some reason they were spared the extreme of murdering someone. But that anger is in every soul and every soul if not for grace is capable of murder.

Praying for better understanding. The prayer says forgive our [...] as we forgive those who [...]
As we implies God will forgive us as we forgive others. Holding grudges etc. is a state of perpetual Anger and Hatred and cannot enter into heaven. If God can forgive the thief or murderer or worse if they truly repent, then they should also pray to feel genuine forgiveness for their enemies.
