Finally splitting with a baton using El Chetee !! All other reviews completely missed that!! It is like a Froe!! I use a real Froe for splitting with baton works great! Being able to chop makes it even better!
Hi I use a Froe as well, 12 inch beast made by Ray Isles in England. 3/8 spine with a convex grind like an axe! In other reviews El Chete shines as a baton type splitter
"How could we enter 2020 with a bang". I don't think anybody will forget January 2020 when it all started. I think I'm going to order the El Chete today because it's on special at my local online dealer and they don't come on special very often.
Dear Sir - This video is new to me and I wanted to let you know that you did an outstanding job! Thank you so much for this. I shall order an El Chete soon!
I tend to like big bellies in knives intended to chop, so, for me, the Power Eagle has it all over the reverse curved blade geometry of the El Chete. So I agree with you entirely!
Love the question! Normally I always have my Junglas and hatchet, but if I can only have one, My Gransfors Bruk Wildlife Hatchet. It does everything the Junglas will, plus I have the hammer side for pounding in stakes, poles etc.
About to buy a large survival knife and have it narrowed down to a few. Curious why the junglas is still your go-to survival knife even though the armageddon won the head to head matchup against it in one of your previous videos. Is there something I am missing with the junglas? Another good video. Keep up the good work. You're helping people make informed decisions.
The Junglas still feels like an extension of my body like no other knife has. It is an old and trusted friend. I would highly reccomend you handle one if you get the chance. Their is also the self defense factor. The style of the blade and point in my mind is perfect for self defense. The Armageddon is kind of like a new truck, where the Junglas is my old trusted Chevy truck that i feel much more comfortable taking into remote and rugged terrain! Thanks for watching!
Powerlifting and knives, that's hell of a combo! What are your records btw.? As for the knives, I fell in love with the El Chete and just had to get it. Took almost a month for it to be delivered to me from the US, but now it's been a year since I got it and it's still "my prrrrecious". Sure, it may not be SUPER-ergonomic, is heavy and slow, won't cut through vines and anything less thick than a wooden stick etc., but I totally love the beast.
do your self a favour and get an old version of the Power Eagle, IMHO a better version. I too found the handle a little problematic, though a simple solution, I wrapped mine in camo form and it transformed it straight away. The old version will perform so much better, its full flat grind is designed to chop and will leave the new version for dead chopping wise.
Thank You for watching! Tops did an article on why they switched to 1095 on the Power Eagle. They felt it was a better all around steel. I really like the performance of the 1095.
I dislike the squarishness of the Tops handle. The cords are a joke. How can they invent that. They are elastic. Paracord , thumb method is the way to go when using a lanyard on a large chopper. Vibration is a no-no in a chopper. I would rather use a hatchet Fiskars X7 , no shock at all (no discomfort). Stay strong (mind also), but watch out for the joints with all the heavy weights. 53 years here and have lifted weights for decades. The muscles handle it, but the joints are the weak link when getting older.

Really nice camp! I enjoy your testing!! All the blades would be nice to own! Tough choices, however your Junglas I keep going back to.

Thank you! Much appreciated!
The TOPS Bestia skuldrags both of these fine blades in regards to chopping.

I’m glad your moms doing better! Good luck on the lifting, and keep up the great videos! It’s nice having someone test drive these blades for me 😉
Thank You Very Much!!! I took the gold in the lifting!
the power eagle is also a good vegetation clearer as the necessity arises
Thanks Dan, the exact comparison I was looking for.
Thank You for watching!
THAT WAS SOO FUNNY. A POWER LIFTER CHOPPING A STICK YOU CAN BREAK WITH YOUR HANDS.
So Dan, if you were packing in a couple miles and going to build a shelter. Would you rather pack a Junglas, el chete, Tomahawk, hatchet, or axe.

I love the handle on the power eagle. Its preference I guess.

Appreciate that you write back. Keeps people watching and participating!
Great video. I’ll have to check out the El Chete for sure!
God bless you and your family
Thank you! You as well
Tops Knives are very expensiv, but they seem to be a good quality!👍🏽
The knives I bought from them all seemed to be very well made.
good video. love both these knifes

Glad you got your El Chete! It is a one of a kind.
I did a 303 Bench which was enough to set a state record for over 50.
Thank You for watching!
Anyone know where I can buy the kydex sheath with dangler for the el chete?

@@ochocobushcraft1742 I am unsure why TOPS changed the Power Eagle, they certainly didn't do themselves any favours by doing so.
Hi there is a 1095 and 5160 Spring steel flat grind, which one you think is better and why? Tops power eagle, great video

@@ochocobushcraft1742 I just bought 5160🤦🏻♂️😒
@@ochocobushcraft1742 From my experience and understanding 5160 Spring steel is tougher and flexible than 1095 🤔

Kinda bothers me that they passed up the opportunity to name it the El Chop-o.
LOL!
That's because they already have one! www.topsknives.com/el-chappo
good video
i think a full flat blade Power Eagle is the way to go
It performs wonderfully! Thank You for watching!
January 2020. The beginning of the world falling apart.
