FAM! If you are comfortable, share your sexual orientation as well as relationship status & let us know how YOU go about protecting yourself - physically and emotionally, against STDs (and pregnancy if that applies)...I wanna get to know you all better, it'll help me a lot to come up with video ideas that might be of interest!

I'm gay and currently in a relationship (ish it's complicated) BUtTTT I'm too young to be having sex (currently 15) however this was VERY informative and great to know in the future because we haven't had sex ed in school and no one actually knows anything about lesbian sex (shocker). So thank you so much!

Bisexual ??? I think. But I rather say sexually fluid. Some days I like girls a lot some days I like guys a lot, some days it's both. I don't mean my orientation changes, I'm just more in the mood for one or another some days. Like yesterday there were so many handsome hot guys around the city and i couldn't stop thinking of dreamy men all day long, and then today I see this video with you two beautiful women and I'm like oh my lord " thank goodness for women "

Wolfe Roth lol, my family dont talk about any of it. I had a 5 minute talk about porn with my dad and how i shouldnt watch it (was in the car so couldnt escape and was 13) and had a leaflet left in my room about puberty and then 2 lessons at school. Apart from that it has never been mentioned whatsoever in my family. Its a massively taboo subject for some reason

Chloe Mayer I'm 15, bisexual, and I share your embarassment. I'm admittedly not a virgin on the guy side of things (Not something I'm proud of, but pressure is pressure). Never had any problem getting a boyfriend and doing the do. But with girls, I've done nothing more than a peck on the lips. It's so embarassing, especially when I'm more attracted to girls! Argh!

I did know two girls could get STIs, but I only knew that from UA-cam. The education system for sex is poor in England, but it's getting better. For some reason transgender and sex/sexual orientation are lumped together though? Which doesn't make sense to me...

    • @NotAnotherKuromi
      @NotAnotherKuromi 7 років тому +5

Sexual education varies drastically from school to school in England, my local secondary school does not discuss trans or LGBT issues at all! So silly that they are in the same category but at least they both got discussed. Any two people can pass STI's to each other no matter their sex or gender.

So, my mom is a gynecologist and I talk with her about this kind of stuff all the time, so if someone has a question about contraceptive pills, injections, implants and stuff just comment it and I'm going to ask her.
(i'm german so I don't know if the gynecologists handling the things like this in your country)
Sorry for spellig or grammer mistakes, i'm trying my best.
    I also got extra information
    1. If you want more information about the effectivity(?) of all kinds of birth control just google "pearl index" this tells you how effective against pregnancies the methodes are.
    2. Before you can get the implant you take a contraceptive pill with the same hormone combination for half a year up to a year so the doctor can see if everything goes well, you don't experience any side effects, everything goes well etc. When there are problems with the hormon combination you'll try out another contraceptive pill, because it's easier to change birth control than the implant(obviously).
If everything works out well with the hormon combination you get the implant.
    3. With apps like the natural cycle app you can't avoid a pregnancy 100 percent.
    4. Many people believe that contraceptive pills are making you infertile if you're taking them serverall years. F.e. If you start taking them with 16 because you're experiencing heavy period pain or simply because you have a boyfriend now and you're taking it until you're in your late twenties-early thirties you aren't fertile because of the contraceptive pill. That's wrong. It could be but you don't know. Most of the time, if you take the pill long it takes a few cycles until everything normalizes, so it could just be that your body needs more time to regulate the hormon production etc. Another reason is simply that women are getting less and less fertile the older they get. The eggs in your ovarys are just as old as you are. After thirty years you might be "too old"

I lost my virginity only 6 months ago, with my first serious boyfriend. We didnt use protection because it was just in the moment. I thouroughly regret that I didn’t stand up for myself and said it had to wait. Afterward he said he didn’t even want to use condoms because he thought it didn’t feel as good, which I feel is sort of bullshit because he was not ready at all for having a child so he shouldn’t be risking it. I ended up getting on the pill quickly because I didn’t want to risk anything. Thing is I didn’t like being on that pill, because it made me gain weight and I got emotional during certain phases of my cycle. We recently broke up and it was really emotional, seeing how he was my first and all.

Emma Dettle Oh man your telling me. The guy I lost my virginity to was terrible at using protection, he never bought a condom. We only ever used the pull out method.
It's a shock I didn't get pregnant after how much we did it. I'm so glad I didn't too, I'm only 15 and we later broke up. I would hate to have my own child grow up with such an irresponsible father.

    • @NotAnotherKuromi
      @NotAnotherKuromi 7 років тому +11

It sounds like your ex was not responsible enough, for the future please look into other methods of protection like femidoms or IUD's. Sometimes it can take months for your body to adjust to the pill but it can cause emotional problems so if it doesn't suit just try something else.
Avoiding pregnancy is good but please use protection against STI's too. If you are going to have another monogamous relationship please go to a GUM clinic & both get tested before having sex, there are plenty of people who either lie about not having an STI or are completely unaware that they have something like chlamydia.
Sorry your relationship ended & it is natural to be sad but I hope your next partner is an upgrade!

I have the IUD and it's honestly the first time I've been able to be carefree sexually. I'm in a long term relationship but having to constantly worry about pregnancy was too much. The pain of the IUD is comparable to a minor contraction and the pain lasts less than 10 seconds, and I didn't even take the recommended ibuprofen!

You actually don't need to be awake while getting an IUD, at least not in Germany (where I live). You basically get snoozed out for 5-10 min and after that it's all done. And the pain that some experience whilst having the IUD Comes from it not being the right size. There are different sizes and shapes (again: at least in Germany) and if it's to small it will fall out and if it's too big it will basically scratch/poke you from the inside and that will cause a lot of pain. Your Body will try to get rid of it by cramping but due to the IUD being too big, your Body cannot push it out easily.
I've been of the pill for 2 weeks now and I've read a lot about IUDs so I hope this helps :)
PS: Jessi has suuuuch pretty eyes! Loved the video xoxo

I really love the way that you both talk so openly about these important issues! I use the Marina implant (the one in the arm) and I love it! I have not had my period for just over a year now and everything is pretty blissful. I know that not everyone is comfortable with the idea of not being regular and/or having something put into their arm, but personally I have found it to be a very easy (and inexpensive) way for me to ensure I am protected from pregnancy. Although everyone responds differently to different types of contraception, it is unfortunately one of those things that you 'just don't know how you will respond until you try it'. I read so many off-putting comments and brought them up with my Doctor who was able to alleviate my concerns. I am also a bit squeamish, but after a very simple procedure, I don't have to worry about having the implant removed (or buying sanitary items) for three years :)

I always thought of unsafe sex as gross and dangerous but it never occurred to me that "you're sleeping with everyone they have slept with unprotected and even everyone that they have slept with." That is so important to understand and I really think people should hear that phrase to really get it into their brains. It really showed me how genuinely dangerous unprotected sex can be.

This is when you are glad you live in the UK and tests and protection is free! I started with the patch, its doesn't fall off, you change it every week and its fine. But i was on for a month solid to start with. Then moved onto the pill and in hindsight had horrific mood swings, but was on it for 4 years. Gave myself a break and felt great, but got back with someone and so have gone on the implant. Finding it great so far, very happy and healthy!

In terms of the contraceptive patch, you change the patch weekly for 3 weeks and then have a patch-free week. It contains both Oestrogen and Progesterone. I had great experiences with it, no problems with it falling off. However the Oestrogen gave me terrible mood swings and so I switched to the Implant. It was a little sore during the fitting and there was some bruising after but I can highly recommend it. It's progesterone only and so my mood has completely stabilised and I forget it's even in my arm. I can highly recommend the implant. P.S, I love this channel, thank you for always speaking so openly.

I love this video and think it's so helpful for younger viewers especially. I'm straight, engaged and have a copper iud. I love it as I've tried most hormone methods and none have worked well for me. I'm having surgery next week, a side effect of which is having my coil removed and I'm actually not looking forward to having a hormonal coil instead (at the advice of my gynaecologist) as I had such bad side effects on other hormonal contraception. I think you have to try everything to know what works for you and everyone's experiences are different. Xx

I'm a bisexual cis woman in a monogamous relationship with a cis man.
I got a tubal ligation in April. I was in and out in a few hours. I got the kind where they put clamps on your tubes(there's a few different ways they do it...clamps, actually tying them, cauterization, etc), and my doctor put 2 on each tube. 2 teensy little scars, cramping for a few days, then everything was back to normal. I found the pill made me very depressed which was bad since I have Bipolar 2 already. I definitely notice a HUGE change in mood since stopping the pill.
It shocks me how reluctant doctors still are to do it though. I already have a kid and knew my whole life I didn't want any (though I'm glad for my daughter). My doctor spent so much time asking me if my boyfriend is ok with it, or if I've thought about future partners wanting kids. I eventually shouted at him and said if they want kids they can go with someone that wants kids, because the point here is that I don't. I think that proved to him that I meant business and he approved everything 😂

I myself am bisexual as well and since I really am not a fan of the pill I use condoms and things like that rather than anything more invasive.

I'm 21 and in a 3 year long relationship with my boyfriend. I got the hormonal IUD a few months ago before my boyfriend and I moved abroad , and I've honestly never looked back. After years of mood swings and depression which the pill aggravated, it's so amazing to not feel like I'm pumping hormones into my body ! Yeah it hurts a bit , like a bad period but the pain literally stops after a day or two . Couldn't recommend it more for gals in a relationship. You don't feel a thing and it takes any worry of slip ups away !

Don't be scared of the IUD! I had the mirena coil for 5 years, and no issues. Insertion was fine, nothing more than a period pain, but it does depend on pain tolerance. The entire appointment lasted 10 minutes, but getting it inserted lasted less than a minute. Removal was the same for me. Now i have the Copper IUD. My doctor was horrified when i asked for it because most women hate it. She told me periods would be longer and heavier. Whilst i agree the first three months of it i thought i was bleeding to death, perseverance paid off, and ten months later, i have normal periods. Lasts 6-7 days, with some cramps and sore boobs. I don't want children for various reasons, and i would like to be sterilised so i don't have to worry about unwanted pregnancy, but even at 25 i'm turned down. I have a long term boyfriend who also doesn't want kids, but we're stuck with the IUD until one of us can be sterilised! Videos like this make me happy! Contraception should be discussed way more often, especially with individuals working out what might work for them, because as you said, it's a minefield! Could you perhaps do a video on stealthing? To bring more awareness to that? It's all well and good telling your one night stand to use a condom, but maybe discussing what to do if they don't listen to your wishes or remove the condom during sex.

I had tried the patch ( Ortho Evra ) and it was a terrible experience. I ended up getting pregnant on the patch . I had a lot of female problems, I was getting my first “ cycle “ at 11 . Apparently way too early , my Dr that delivered my daughter told me I have endometriosis. No wonder it was problems after problems my entire life. I’m in my 40’s , and have had an endometrial ablation. No more monthly anything. ( my husband and I celebrated 24 years this past year.... ) it’s been rough , but we’re not giving up .
    Don’t use the patch!!

IUDs are depending on the person. I'm a virgin and everyone I talked to whether it was a doctor or just a friend said I would be in horrible pain. I felt a little pressure in my lower abdomen and then that was it. But it's still the most effective birth control although that's not why I got it.

So much good stuff in this video, well done for being unapologetic in talking about this stuff and helping to get the discussion and info out there! Especially loved the thing about admitting you have an ego and being prepared to wrap your brain as well :')
Not meaning to nitpick, but one teeny tiny criticism I do have is just about when you were talking about STIs - it's not the greatest thing to describe people as "clean" for not having them, because it implies that to have an STI makes you dirty/unclean/gross/disgusting, which obviously adds to the stigma surrounding STI discussion in the first place! If instead of "clean" we just say things like "STI-free," it helps fight the stigma and shame of the very real possibility of having one. We can educate on how to prevent STIs without using language that might make people feel shitty if the info didn't get to them in time

A ton of my friends have the iud and they LOVE it. One got it because she moved to Africa for volunteer work for 2 years and it was the easiest choice for her. Some of my other friends got it just because it was easier than taking a pill everyday. They've said the insertion sucks and it might suck for a week or two after but then you're golden. Some people have bad reactions but you can't predict that. Might be a good idea to just take the plunge :)

I hate the misconception that women can’t transfer to other women. I tested positive for an STI after a year of being in a monogamous relationship with my girlfriend. Thankfully I got tested and we were both able to take medication quickly to get it taken care of. We now are really cautious about using taking extra measures like using condoms on toys and making sure we clean them carefully

Im straight. I recently got the hormonal IUD, mainly to help with painful period cramps because the pill doesn't work for me and also the birth control part is great (I'm in a longterm relationship). Personally the IUD works amazingly for me but it did hurt a ton getting it inserted and for a few weeks after which is normal. For me it started working within the next month to help with period cramps. but I do know some people that its taken up to 4 months for it to finally not be painful, and sometimes it period cramps can become more painful before they get better.
Obviously everyone has different experiences with medications but for me I think its the best choice I could've ever made!

I just subscribed to you, and this video popped up in my feed. I have to say I am a little disappointed that you would take money from that company. Relying only on a cycle-tracking app for avoiding pregnancy is NOT reliable enough. For some women, if they get pregnant, that is absolutely life-shattering. I am a biomedical scientist, and I looked at the research the company used. It is NOT up to par. Please consider who you accept money from, and who you advertise. Love from Norway.

Honestly I wouldn't let horror stories about the IUD scare you, because everyone is different, and realistically the pain of the procedure is seconds long! I found the first two weeks of cramps far far worse than the insertion itself. It also can be used as emergency contraception which I don't think a lot of people realise.

IUD ONLY HURT IF YOU GET IT INSERTED WHEN YOUR NOT ON YOUR PERIOD.
I work in the Pregnancy and contractive industry, so I am very educated on this topic.
I recently had to have the IUD inserted because I am intolerant to the Pill and I need to go on contraception because of a medicine I needed. NOT IMPORTANT
I went when I was on my period, this means that cervix, is already open, the pain associated with IUD is caused by forcing the cervix open, but it opens naturally when your on your period.
I had the Mirena inserted, I had my GP prescribe me valium because I was so terrified ( I was having panic attacks about it), but the Gyno wouldn't let me take it. I am the same and I am terrified of foreign things going inside me, I can't use tampons or anything either,
I am a big wimp and I felt no pain during the insertion and had less cramping that a regular period. They lasted about a month.
Now I have no periods, slight spotting once a month and no cramps, I used to be crippled by them.
I would do it a thousand times over, its afforded me so much freedom, its unreal.

I am bi, married (to a man), and have an IUD. My husband and I don't want children right now so I felt like it was perfect for me! I did a pill for years and then a new doctor put me on the nuva ring because I'd constantly forget to take my pills and my job would keep me from taking it at the same time everyday. I had a really bad reaction, went back to the pill, then explored other options. I have the Skyla IUD/coil and it's been lovely. The hormones are localized which I appreciate but like...ITS SMALLER THAN MIRENA! It only lasts 3yrs compared to Mirena's 5 but knowing it was smaller made me feel more comfortable with the experience. It felt like an intense menstrual cramp when inserted, and I was fine immediately after. My husband and I both have jobs that require yearly check-ups and that includes sexual health so that's really nice :)

Kimbers Maria I was on a low-hormone pill before the nuva ring. And for the three weeks I had it, I LOVED IT. It was so convenient and easy but one day I just woke up and I had had migraines before but this was different. I had extreme vertigo (had never experienced before) and any light, movement, and sound made me nauseous. I had to have a friend walk me to medical with my eyes closed so I didn't get sick. I was put on bed rest for a couple of days until my hormones balanced out.

I know for a very very long time I was incredibly reluctant to talk about it, but I'm becoming more open and think if the term was common knowledge it would open doors for a lot of young people being able to put a name to the thing they're struggling with. Once I knew it was a real thing, it became easier for me to come to terms with as I knew I wasn't just a total freak 😂

I know that I’m late to this video, but I thought my experience might help someone. I reacted badly to both the progesterone only pill and the combined pill, which fucked with my mental health and made me gain a lot of weight. I had to go off them, but I needed the hormones for my endometriosis, so I got the hormonal IUD (mirena) which was PERFECT for me because the effects were local, meaning the mirena helps with my endo but doesn’t ruin my mental health. Hope this helps someone!

  • @RodneyAndMeVideos

I used the patch for two years and loved it - it never, ever came off thank god. However it does irritate the skin. I also developed an issue with my joints and carpal tunnel in the last year (I've had surgery and everything!) And now it turns out it might be due to the patch!
This is because there is only one patch and that has to work on everybody, big and small. I'm a very small person and underweight so the hormones the patch provided were far too high a dose for my body and very physical issues arised.
This week I got moved to the pill as there are all different strengths and combinations of the pill and if one doesn't suit you another might. It's always worth taking about your hormones and side effects with a doctor. A dedicated female doctor definitely helps (unfortunately for me all my doctors were male - all fantastic but hormones' effects were not on the mind).
Just a little heads up anyway. I'm definitely an extreme case but I never considered it was my hormone dose throwing me outta whack

I'm 22, straight and in a long term relationship with my first boyfriend. I use the patch and it works pretty good. You have to replace the patch every week and I always put it on my bum so my underpants can cover it up. And I do notice if the patch is gone (which hasn't happened yet, thank god) because I still kind of check it's still there when I go to the toilet or when I dress myself in the morning). The only problems I've had with it: 1) you can't really take a bath or go in a hot tub (if the patch isn't covered with a bathing suit or bikini) because it always comes loose and I have to change it (aka waisting a patch), but no problem with swimming or taking a shower though. 2) I mostly wear black panties and some fluff of the panties get onto the sides of the patch and after a few days it doesn't really look pretty (but this is really just a small problem).
Btw: you forgot to mention the ring (like the Nuvaring) as a contraception.
