The idea of a "permanent" blood moon is awesome as it would create the possibility that all monsters would instantly respawn and could basically turn into a whole world stealth mission until you fixed it. I'd love to see some of the battle scenes that would end up on UA-cam from this!
Interesting theory! I like the idea that this would lead to a “Dark World” of sorts. I’ve always told people since BotW that it seems Ganon’s goal isn’t necessarily to destroy everything until it’s dust in space, but he’s terraforming Hyrule into his Dark World!
Mind you back in Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess Ganondorf used both his Gerudo magic and the Triforce of Power to keep areas in perpetual darkness *without* having to destroy the Sun as shown when Link first meets him face to face at the entrance to Hyrule Castle. ¿Why bother destroying the Sun when he can "freeze" time itself in order to keep the Blood Moon up at all times? That said this is still an amazing theory.
I had always interpreted the blood moon as either a manifestation of Ganon's power or that both of them were empowered by some ethereal evil, rather than the moon directly powering Ganon. I think I'm still more on that side, but I am less certain than ever. Super cool theory; it's just the right amount of crazy that makes me go, "no, they wouldn't... would they?"
Banger video, and I love the theory. The idea of an eternal night is also not a stretch. During your quest for the final goddess pearl in Wind Waker, Ganondorf uses his power to cause a never ending night. Only the power of the goddess pearls ends up breaking the curse, but even then king of red lions speculated it was Ganondorf’s intention to keep the world plunged in darkness. And that was even without the blood moon.
It's interesting to note that back in Ocarina of Time he was able to keep the skies above Hyrule Castle Town in eternal darkness without the Triforce of Power at his grasp. The fact he can do something like that on his own magic alone is very creepy to think about now that he can power himself with the rise of a Blood Moon.
Ha!! I love Kurzgesagt! That was a great theory! I definitely think the moon has something to do with Ganondorf's new found power. It would be cool if even part of what you discussed was true 🤔😁
Great theory. I definitely think you are on the right track and that the blood moon is a very important massively overlooked component of the new game. I posted about this another another channel yesterday. Thought you might find it interesting: "Could the blood moon be the most important thing in this small segment of the trailer? Maybe instead of time travel, with each subsequent blood moon the topography of Hyrule changes within each of the regions, as all of the timelines begin to converge? Ganondorf could need specific tools, weapons and relics from each timeline he was defeated in and is manifesting gateways using the power of the blood moon to restore these ancient areas. The entire blood moon mechanic is based on the restoration of enemies etc, why not the restoration of entire areas? Could be why in some footage we see the labyrinths on the ground and in others, the air and the Zonai ruins that are no longer consumed in shadow. It would definitely make the map feel brand new; not knowing what has changed and feeding that into the story with quests from NPC's and characters informing you that strange things are happening in each of these regions. It could be a solid foundation for dungeons too. You have to solve them and steal these relics (tears) before Ganondorf acquires them. Or maybe even the night and day cycles are longer and there is a permanent blood moon during the night cycle which reveals an ancient Hyrule. The blood moon does seem to be very important in the latest trailers".
A bit too convoluted in regards to different geography and topography based on the ever switching timelines so i hardly imagine Nintendo taking the series in such a huge direction in regards to innovative gameplay and environment so i can't agree on this scenario. Wathever role the Blood Moon will play i'm certain it will take place in the single timeline both for simplicity's sake but also narrative consistency with Breath of the Wild's Lore.
While the blood moon will serve as a prominent role in the game’s plot. However, the more I look at the trailers, the more I recognize a loose reminisce of certain films. Now Zeltik made an entire video of referencing Studio Ghibli films, but what I will point out is the very loose reminisce to the plot of the 1999 film adaptation of “The Mummy.” Now before you think this doesn’t make sense, let me point out key plot points. - a mummified man sentenced to remain cursed for all eternity - thousands of years later, groups of treasure hunters locate his remains (despite the warnings from those who were guarding the resting place to prevent his awakening) - a woman (stupidly) awakens the mummy with a cursed spellbook - all hell breaks loose throughout the land bringing ultimate disaster - the mummy seeks out those he chooses to sacrifice to resurrect himself (and his lover) With the themes of sacrificial rituals and resurrection written all over the aspects of the trailers, they point to The Mummy. So to sum it up, despite Calamity Ganon’s defeat, Link and Zelda explore the underground in search of the strange disturbing turn of events taking place there. Not only do they find the corpse of Ganondorf, but it’s likely that the green hand they find is trying to keep Ganon and his malice contained. However, Zelda, due to her ignorance of the hand’s purpose, removes the hand and unleashed the malice, coming face-to-face to the now-awakened corpse. This causes the cave around them to collapse, Link’s arm and the Master Sword infected with malice, the corpse gaining power, Link and Zelda separated, the green hand from before saves Link, but Zelda falls (and continues to fight the Balrog- oh, wait. Wrong story.) to her supposed doom in the underworld. Meanwhile, all of Hyrule faces its utter destruction on the surface, with Ganondorf’s power rendering the land uninhabitable. All of Link and Zelda’s efforts of rebuilding the kingdom’s former glory were vanity. Should Zelda survive, she now must explore the underground unarmed and with no combat training or experience. (More or less like any horror game with no weapon whatsoever). One thing to note, Zelda no longer has the power she had to contain the Calamity. So through other means, she’s able to communicate with Link. But her faith in him to defeat Ganon has dwindled. (That doesn’t sound like her losing faith after she had faith in him all along to slay Calamity Ganon.) Furthermore, Ganondorf would possibly need Zelda as a sacrifice to resurrect himself because of the power she had in her, but since Zelda no longer has it, Ganon would search for another alternative. This had me wondering that another, yet a more powerful and combat-effective Princess Zelda would come to travel alongside Link to save her fellow incarnation, but unfortunately with the trailers so far, that doesn’t appear to be likely.
Good video man! This is definitely an interesting theory. I just think it would be fitting if another sequel to a monumental Zelda game revolved around the moon again lol.
Maybe the demon tribe comes from the moon and and crashed into the earth, because they sensed power. That sounds similar to StarFox Adventures, with the sharp claw tribe.
¿Could the "aliens" who invade Romani's Ranch be demons from Termina's Moon? Maybe in Tears of the Kingdom we'll get a quest similar to Romani's where we have to protect livestock from UFOs like the one in the Creating a Champion concept art trying to take them back to their homeworld.
I would honestly like a permanent blood moon. I’ve had an idea of a blood moon mode or something close to that for a while. The blood moon is one of my favorite mechanics in botw and would love to see it return and last longer than it does in botw.
The risen threat of Ganondorf and the new Blood Moon is a perfect opportunity for every tribe to joined forces with Link and Princess Zelda in the name of Hyrule against a threat that concerns them all.
Here's me being hyped for the idea of world states. Give each region a new environment change, like in hyrule the blood moon is stuck over hyrule, or in the gerudo dessert, city is covered in a nearly permanent and dangerous sand thunder storm, or throwing kakoriko village into a twilight version. And the goal is getting the people of hyrule to help link and zelda fight this evil like with aoc. You legit, get the entirety of hyrule to be ready to fight the calamity that botw timeline wasn't entirely prepared for. They might be now, given the introduction of zonai and their understanding of magic.
Ahhh too clever. Maybe Ganondorf could be trying to accomplish those goals, either way I definitely think the Blood Moon will have more focus in TotK. I can imagine that Link will have to go there at some point even to uncover the secrets behind it.
@@NayruYT And it makes sense, there's alot of synergy between Ganondorf and the Blood Moon. One of my speculations for a while now is that there's some Zonai construct up there that makes the Blood Moon possible, but there could be anything up there.
Little late to the party, but I 100% agree with the permanent blood moon theory. I actually had the thought when I first watched the trailer. As for the sun, I just finished playing Outer Wilds so I’m not ready to deal with that again
You watch Kurzgesagt in a nutshell, I like those videos, I like how there's birds and a duck in them, I really like those animations in them, the earlier videos feel weird with no duck in them.
@@NayruYT I agree on the lack of gravitational effects in the surface of Termina given what we see in Great Bay through the entire 3 day cycle yet it's worth noting the still present seismic activity that can be felt across Termina during the second and third days. Apparently the Moon did have a gravitational effect on the surface if the occasional earthquakes are anything to go by.
@@javiervasquez625 Yeah definitely, that's sort of what I mean by "fantasy logic," Nintendo kinda just ignores what doesn't work for them and includes the stuff that is narratively useful.
A permanent Blood moon probably wouldn't be that hard for Ganondorf to do, after all in WW he placed a curse on the world that made it endless night. A similar spell was placed on his island where just being near it would fast forward time to night. Casting the curse just as a blood moon appeared would potentially lock it in place. That being said, I wonder if he would bother doing that specific curse again, considering how easily it was dispelled before. Then again, he seems stronger than his WW self so the curse would likely be stronger by extension now.
If Ganondorf’s mummified body is in Age of Calamity’s alternate timeline, then will the events there be much more differ than the ones from Tears of the Kingdom? I know most fans think this is non-canon. But since it is connected to Breath of the Wild in multiple ways, I have been thinking of this theory for the past few months. Time travel has been a part of the Legend of Zelda lore/mythology.

The Moon being a Sheikah made Divine Beast? That would make it Zelda's very own version of the Death Star so that would be awesome.

@@NayruYT based plan
I think Ganon using the moon to cause a lunar eclipse is possible.
That would be a cool idea!
I also theorized about an endless blood moon that you have to find a way to stop when I first saw the new trailer. Would be really cool.
Here's hoping we're right!
Ganon decimating the sun would be an awesome story midpoint. Hard to get lower than that in terms of a defeat.
Spending the latter half of the game in complete darkness would be such an awesome motivation
