Fantastic result. As a former Kiwi myself I also smiled at the Jif and the Palmolive, hey whatever works is best! Thanks also for the bootmaker thread and knot tip, that's really awesome. Love these gannets, learned about these 45 years ago in primary school, Cape Kidnappers. Thanks for sharing this
Just watched the tutorial series and was impressed. Great camera angles, and able to understand exactly what you were doing. Dang that's a lot of work, but when finished, oh yeah. All that work, totally worth it....thx
I have watched spellbound from how you made the drawing, to the cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering, cleanup and finally the finished product in your window. Thank you so very much. I look forward to more of your videos.

Thanks for your comment... :-) and good on ya for making a start. you are welcome to question me whenever you wish... Yes a piece of 3mm window glass is a perfect place to start because it is thin, flat (without surface texture) soft, and has very little internal tension. Look up my channel profile then find my linked web site, (karal studio) from my home page, find my stained glass tutorials. There is detailed instructions (texts) to study..... :-) Good luck dude....
Thank you for passing on valuable knowledge, especially in adding strength and hooks! I've just started out in stained glass and you make it look so easy, hope to be this good one day... 😊
you make wonders of every piece of stained glass you make. By watching your videos I feel more confindent to start my new trimester at art school. We´ve been working on it for a while but this time we have to start a new project using lead. I think it is a bit more difficult but I´d love to see you work on it sometime. It would be of a great help. By the way you are great at showing all this procedure step by step. You are awesome!!!
I've really enjoyed watching your videos. Thank you. I love your gannets, really beautiful. You make cutting and breaking curves look so easy. I'm off to practice:)
Same here, nice clean work and beautiful result, just the way I like it. It's time to start on my own as soon as my studio is finished. Is it ok if I come back for some advice? Thanx John, Sweden.
Thank you so much for these videos. Your work is amazing and you have been truly blessed to be able to create such beautiful pieces. I was wondering, where can your work be purchased?!
wow, your work in incredible and shows your passion for glasswork, thank you for sharing your work. May I ask why you use the coppersulphate (and what solution you make up)? is that instead of using patina? the result was beautiful, i use black patina as i have never had success getting an even cover with copper patina, however the coppersulphate may be a solution for this problem i have had.
Oh, you make this all look so easy!!!! Can you please tell me about the copper sulphate? Why do you use it? I've never heard of this before, and am not sure of its' use. Thank you so much for your videos; I've learned so much!
CuSO4 plates perfect to solder. Purchase from chemist, drug store, or garden shop You'll need at least 5 kg of blue crystal. Into a large bucket dissolve as much CuSO4 as it will take (maybe 1kg per litre of warm water) you need a TOTALLY SATURATED SOLUTION When finished soldering, soapy wash. Sulphate it straight away. Immerse the item into the solution and jiggle it around, or rub on with soaked cloth Rinse, soapy wash, dry then lightly metal polish. WARNING! NEVER GET THIS STUFF IN YOUR EYES!
These videos have been amazingly helpful. Thankyou so much! I've had corrosion - so called 'white mould'- creep in on my stained glass pieces so far. I've tried bicarbonate of soda, a flux cleaner spray, all sorts... it has lessened it but not taken away the problem entirely. It doesn't seem to happen as much with just a silver solder finish. It's like someone gradually undoing your hard work😔. I've been using bottles of patina solution e.g black patina and copper bright.... is the copper sulphate power saturated solution the better way to go in your experience? Thanks
saturated copper sulfate is my "go to".... be sure to rinse the item immediately after it's been soldered, then preferably immerse the item into a bath of solution. It my help to lightly brush it during the bathing, then soapy wash, dry then a light polish ort to bring it up nice and bright.
to remove glue from the foil,, try wd40, or make a paste with baking soda and a little dish soap,,, apply, wait ten minutes and scrub with toothbrush or cloth.
Ah.... not an easy task these days since we've all been buying cheap ass shoes from China and throw them away when they need repair in 3 months..... Your best bet it to hunt out a cobbler and ask him very nicely for a few yards. You could also ask him where he gets his rolls then invest in one of your own. I brought a roll many years ago and I still have half of it left.... :-)
I'm having a devil of a time trying to turn photos into patterns. Can you do a tutorial on how you do that or point me to one you have done. I am not finding one.

Try using a little ammonia or acetone on a Q-tip to remove the glue. Carefully, though, so it doesn’t go where it shouldn’t lol.
Again, just lovely! Tfs. Mx
Thanks for sharing. Great videos.
Hermoso trabajo!!!!
Karal - is it possible to take a double hung window and make a beautiful stained glass pannel for them or not?

WONDERFUL...... Thank you very much :)
Copper sulphate turns the silver shine of solder to a copper color, it is merely my choice of dark finish.... :-)

Where do you get the bootmakers thread? I've been searching and can't seem to find it!
