12:38 The problem isn't the fur or performance loss. That is a bulky graphics card and it is supported at only one end. The cat's weight and the card's weight combined will rip off the PCIe slot or break the graphics card. That is gonna cost a lot.
This channel has actually helped me to catch an expanding battery in my laptop. Never knew this was a thing and just thought my keyboard was expanding from heat. It definitely looked like a scary pillow when I replaced it.

I am referring to the image at minute 10:19 I work at a major ISP, and we had several line cards for routers shipped from data center A to data center B (about half a million euros). They were driven across our country in a goddamn laundry basket without any kind of packaging by a private contractor in his VW Golf until they arrived at our place. Surprisingly, the line cards were not damaged at all... Good job Juniper ;)
The airplane entertainment system one tickled me. I just imagined that classic TV trope, "IS THERE A DR ON BOARD?!" but as "IS THERE ANYONE FROM TECH SUPPORT ON BOARD!?". Afterwhich a couple people roll their eyes and mutter "every. time."
Interesting thing - in Russia back in 90s, you could find black cross painted on server, that literally meant "shoot here". Yes, to erase sensitive data and prevent it from falling into wrong hands, security guard was supposed to shoot at marked spot to damage hard drives, possibly with no chance to restore it. Other "techsupportgore" of the time included servers being permanently in some unmarked van at the parking lot, that would disconnect and drive into nowhere, if someone tries to check finances of that company.
About the kitten on the gpu, that GPU's fans go fast enough to cut nails clean off. Also, cat fur often ends up with conductive materials in it, which could short the 12V pins that the kitten has their paw on, which can start a fire, or just straight up electrocute the kitten. Conveniently, there are pads at the other side also for the 12V rail, so the current would have a clear path straight through the body. It's only 12V, but its 12V straight from a PSU which looks like one of the cheap ones that don't have overcurrent protection or short-circuit protection. A kittens body will also have far, far less resistance than the human body (human body will have 2330ohms from hand to hand and half that from hand to foot for high voltage scenarios, so now imagine a kitten, but far thinner skin, lower voltage, sure, but extremely high current capability. Cat fur is also very flammable, and certain components in a PC can emit fumes as well. And also, a 12V rail short to the PSU will end up popping a lot of capacitors, and I imagine the front fans on that PC will not be super kind to the kitten's face at that point. Basically, yes, this isnt hardware gore yet, just "imminent" hardware gore and a crisis trip to the vet just waiting to happen
Modern GPUs are also usually designed to just barely be held well enough by a standard PCIe x16 socket with guard mount attached. A kittens weight is small, but for some motherboards, it could make enough of a difference. Plus, I doubt the kitten just floated gently onto the GPU. I know mine doesn't float, at least. It slams, then trips, then blames me regardless of whether I had anything to do with it
22:03 Something like this is in my living room, but on the electrical outlets. I am somewhat competent with electronics and electrical stuff, and when I was replacing some outlets in the living room because they had lost their grip completely, I had to literally cut around the cover plate with an exacto knife to cut the paint away. Plus the ground hole on some of the outlets weren't even usable because they were filled in with paint. I don't know what the painter was thinking.
I had personal experience with wires crossing signals. I'm not in tech support btw. It's that my brother decided to wire an old unused outlet to make it usable again. For some reason either my dad didn't think it was usable or he didn't want to wire it because of the placement making it hard to use. What happened is my brother with his bare knowledge did it when changing his bed. Because the outlet was easier to access and he could use it for his LEDs or for charging his phone. You get the idea. While doing this somehow the positive and negative got too close to one another. That caused our electricity shutting off at random to protect us. The thing is we didn't know that. We thought we had too many things plugged in! We always blamed the poor microwave or the dishwasher. The worst thing is we had to replace our alarm battery aswell. So the alarm would go off and there was no way for us to let the syrens stop from yelling. The power had to either go back on or after a while it would stop on his own but the light outside would still blink. My brother noticed it once and moved the cables slightly and wouldn't you know it? The power went off! He fixed it but damn. We had no idea.
Make sure it's distilled water though, tap water is still conductive - you do not want to risk anything shorting, especially a capacitor. But if you're using distilled water at that point you might as well just use IPA since it's pretty cheap.
As someone who is studying computer science, I now understand Lexi's pain even more.

All of us are valid, no matter what we look like, sound like, or act like! ❤
@@braelinmichelus Hell yeah! I too am pre-voice training, as I am still in the closet, I can't really train at the moment. Lexis voice is heartwarming to me.
@@claudine404 Hold in, there. 🥰
Being in the closet sucks, although is necessary in some people's situations.
Just remember that you're valid, even if nobody knows. Only you can say for yourself who you are!
And also, when coming out,
remember to give people time and space.
You'll be surprised how some can come around. Especially for older folks, I've noticed. 😂
@@braelinmichelus Yuuup, true.
Oh, this makes the video even cooler! I thought Lexi was the person who submitted the first image of the network cable.

I don’t watch your channel often, but the fact you know so much about tech is crazy to me
Been working on IT field since i was 14... I stopped watching IT related youtube content after vocational school. This channel is the first IT related channel i will now subscribe after i have graduated from university and seen all sorts of shit shows as IT support, ICT service specialist and now im a Datacenter specialist... i can relate to all of this "customer states" sort of stuff. Pains me, yet now i can laugh as i am far away from punching distance of customers. Thanks for good laughs!
as someone who still has an old thinkpad, they are super robust and usually have a thick metal chassis under tough plastic. mine got ran over by a car and still works with very minimal damage
12:38 The problem isn't the fur or performance loss.
That is a bulky graphics card and it is supported at only one end.
The cat's weight and the card's weight combined will rip off the PCIe slot or break the graphics card.
That is gonna cost a lot.
Also, cats are static electricity generators.

I work at a major ISP, and we had several line cards for routers shipped from data center A to data center B (about half a million euros).
Afterwhich a couple people roll their eyes and mutter "every. time."
Lexi's exasperated heavy breathing is a sign of sanity loss, for both Lexi and us watching.

The second I saw the title I said “Yes! 24 minutes of Lexi judging people”
About the kitten on the gpu, that GPU's fans go fast enough to cut nails clean off.
It slams, then trips, then blames me regardless of whether I had anything to do with it
"They scream at each other until they DIE!"
This is so true, and also hilarious.
9:22 That is the *EXACT* laptop I had for college until they learned that chromebooks are cheaper and so far less effective.
6:23 puting water on a motherboard is actually ok but the soap is what will mess up the board.
Make sure it's distilled water though, tap water is still conductive - you do not want to risk anything shorting, especially a capacitor. But if you're using distilled water at that point you might as well just use IPA since it's pretty cheap.
These all cause me such pain but Lexi narrating over these is glorious
I love Lexis IT-related videos and commentary!
