Those are beauties! I got a large crop of good-sized berries from my -year old Prime-Ark 45 in a container, but they have no taste. I don't even think the birds are going for them. My Prime-Ark Freedom, also in a pot is a lot smaller and hasn't formed fruit yet this year even though it's a year older. Hopefully, my 45's will taste better as the plant gets older.
Definitely will taste a lot better as they aged. Prime Arks are super vigorous even in containers. We mostly use prime arks for jams and wine since we have other sweeter varieties. But if picked at the peak ripeness, they are sweet and big so they’re dual purpose berries.
It’s actually not bad. Primocanes are first year growth, they have 5 leaf clusters. Then after one year the Primocanes becomes Floricanes, they shed leaves and form new ones on their second year with three clusters. Typically, blackberries fruit only on floricanes, but they developed varieties like the Prime Ark that can fruit on Primocanes. Prime Ark can also fruit for spring and fall.
We make jams and wine with PAF, we also eat them fresh if we happen to pick them at the peak of ripeness. We prefer Ponca, Sweetie Pie and Triple Crown for fresh eating.

I use a gallon or two gallon bucket and put a carabiner on them, then clip it to my belt loop and pick with both hands.
Great idea! Thanks.
I'm so confused about what is a floracaine and primacaine. I definitely have to research on it.

@@TreehouseVineyard Thanks for the explanation.
You’re welcome.
Beautiful berries. What do you plan to do with them?
