So many videos of Shivmani on youtube. But I have never seen any extra ordinary performance to say that he is great drummer. I dont know, why there are none on youtube. Or his best performances have not been published yet on youtube.
Shivamani is more of a percussionist than a drummer and pretty average actually. The greatest percussionist of Indian origin who has made it to the cover of drum magazine thrice, is the legendary Trilok Gurtu , son of Shobha Gurtu , but he prefers to be based out of India.
@@subratabardhan8534 now you mentioned it, I just saw Trilok Gurtus performance, and yes he was creating sounds from different instruments. But that was a theme based and so it was attractive mesmirizing and there was a thinking behind use of instruments for that particular performance. But still when I compare that with Shivmani's performance of creating sounds from different instuments, it seems like a random sounds, no synch, no relation between two sounds. thats my opinion and i am by no way related to this art. just a music lover.
@@kingpanthom Without any disrespect to an artist, Sivami is more filmy and mainstream. In the global percussion scenario, he is extremely average and not in the same league as Trilok, Airto etc. Check out the John McLaughlin Trio with Trilok Gurtu and a few of his individual works. Trick is heavily influenced by African rhythms and is a master at the Tabla as well. Happy listening !
